A bit late, but rather sizeable chapter. The plot thickens, Jon enters relevancy, and we see more shades of a dysfunctional royal family. Let me know what you think in the comments below. You can read the previous chapters in the collection.

MehOhWell

…..Now, I’m not saying that Shaera and Jaehaerys being burned alive was deserved, I’m just saying that sometimes the gene pool benefits from some of the stupid being removed.

That was definitely interesting. I almost thought that was gonna be Coldhands, not Bloodraven. Which gave me the idea for a time travel loop where Coldhands=Time-Traveling!Jon

Those dark things that slipped in, methinks some quite original plotlines down the road.

excellent installment. i'm curious about bloodraven's intentions here. he seemed to preferred the cold ones to whatever he's claiming Jon or Rhaella let in, but he's also getting his beak into Rhaella so.... intriguing.

Interesting team up. I have no idea how this is going to go. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you, and the fact that Rhaella Warg is probably the most fantastic thing. I look forward to seeing how she will continue to utilize her abilities. I also think that because she broke the song, things will become very different. I am interested in seeing what Jon will learn from Bloodraven, especially in terms of his abilities. However, what's more curious is what else has stirred because of Rhaella's actions. Great job, as always, and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Great chapter. Aegon needs to be flogged. His heart might be in the right place, at least at the 30k feet view, but he is terrible as a father and grandfather, and a poor king. Maester Aemon would have been better. Good for Rhaella finding a way to gain some leverage, as little as it may be. And good for her grandmother growing a spine and taking a stand. Rhaella worshipping the Old Gods might mean they won’t marry her to Aerys. Aegon is too spineless to want to deal with the scandal. And there should still be a lot of dragon blooded houses about with an available daughter (Baratheon, Martell, Velaryon, Penrose, Celtigar, etc…). Aerys for the win again. The spoiled brat had potential. Too bad his family failed to nurture it. Bloodraven and Jon meet. And Jon quickly swipes Dark Sister. That Bloodraven doesn’t seem to care suggests he’s past his sword days, as he said, or he doesn’t need it to deal with Jon. Or both. That said, lessons might be a good thing, unless he tries to tie Jon to a weirwood root. Thanks for writing.

Hype for Rhaella worshipping the Old Gods. Down with the seven!

Wait wait... wait. Did you just say that Bloodraven was responsible for Euron 'I want to murderfuck an eldritch abomination into existence' Greyjoy? If so... I got to say, the house of the dragon has a history of some easily avoidable fuck ups, but this one probably takes the god damn cake.

You Know Who

Damnit! Why does it have to be over?

Hmm. One protagonist helpless and imprisoned and the other lost and confused. I'll work through the current chapters for sure, but nothing has really appealed to me in this one so far. This story arc to me would be more interesting outside of the beginning of a new story. I'm definitely a reader who prefers a grounded start to a setting - I gave up Ancillary Justice as an overrated, overly convoluted book 200 pages in when I still didnt know what the heck was going on. I mean, I do at least know what is happening here, but I feel adrift as a reader. I dont feel drawn or attached to a character, or a cause, or even an interesting what-if in the setting.
