Since wildlings now to strength so to speak Jon may have to take control in order to get them to fight the others. For Arya to get harsh lesson in life early on is important as well to see that not everything is sunshine and roses

I actually really like Ned's punishment for Arya, if only because I've never seen a fanfic that doesn't praise Arya to high heavens for essentially being a spoiled brat who doesn't understand the consequences of her actions. I also like that Jon is taking a smarter and more realistic approach to dealing with the Others. In canon he took a 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' approach and befriended the Wildlings, but realistically that just would never work, because it would require all the Lords of Westeros to truly think think of the Others as their primary enemy. And there's no way that's happening. I like his current strategy of investing in the Wildlings so they have a better chance of putting up a fight with the Others, and letting the Wildlings and the Others exhaust each other's strength. Looking forward to more!
