Best day of my week, no shame in admitting 💁

BSilvershot

You and me both pal, casually checked the page about a dozen times this morning hoping this had dropped

Manishi

My weekly motivation

Jacob Graham

I love how they build the TIE fighters up to be like a looming dragon

Ayan Upadhyay

There’s actually something called “slug throwers” in Star Wars, which are essentially guns by another name. Apparently, they were useful against Jedi since they melted against lightsabers and injured them in the process.

MCDYa

we gotta get more than 1 episode a week i can’t handle these breaks 😭😭😭😭

lunasera

Next Wednesday can't come fast enough! But I really love that you guys are appreciating the set up episodes as well.

Witchy Reads

I can't wait for next week! And then the Narkina 5 arc! It's going to be so good!

colie

This is my first time and I’m loving it. I gave up on the Star Wars universe a long long time ago… but this is really good. It feels less like fan boys obsessed with the IP and more like artists obsessed with the potential of the world to tell stories that reflect what’s going on in our world. Also if you like Nemik’s actor… can’t recommend enough how much you would love “End of the F***king World”… imagine if Dexter and Fleabag had a baby. He’s the lead.

Haley Willis

Hey guys! Fun fact. Syrill’s mother is the actress who plays Arabella Figg in the order of the phoenix. I’m pretty sure Will commented on her interesting voice in the that movie.

I really love the way Skeen's motivation for rebellion is framed. The empire didn't just kill his brother and Skeen is angry about it, that's too simple. The empire came in, took his brother's land, forced him out, and destroyed his life so much he took his own life instead. I find that so much more evil and compelling. Skeen himself says he doesn't really know how he feels about the empire. Its not just hate, its something deeper. And to make it even better, Skeen's brother had a tree farm, and Skeen's words to Cassian earlier: "the axe forgets but the tree remembers" Perfectly written

What this show does best is dialogue, monologues, and putting weight on the actions in the original trilogy.

shenzi22

this show is so good that it actually makes everything else worse. You know what star wars CAN be now.

Carlos

Nemik, my prince.

Carlos

Waiting for Wednesdays and Fridays is killing my soul. I need more Andor and Succession lol

William Rodriguez

Hmmm what did they think of Solo since that was a somewhat partial behind the scenes of Han which would have been during the early days of the Empire I think . So I didn’t watch Andor when it came out but now I’m like wanting to binge it . It’s hard waiting a week . Idk if I can knowing this heist is about to happen next episode

newdayatmidnight

We know it's personal for Cassian -- so far we've heard that he was in a youth prison, the Empire hanged his adoptive father, AND his homeworld was ruined by an Imperial mining disaster. But he's not fully committed yet because other things are on his mind: his adoptive mother and friends on Ferrix, the search for his lost sister, etc.

I do find the discourse that popped up in the fandom around the space AKs so funny because this is what Star Wars has always done, just that it was older WW1 and WW2 weapons they slapped a few nobs and greeblies on. The AK is just so recognizable that it stands out more, but it was definitely a purposeful choice by the creative team to give this band of rebels a gun that is known for being the symbol of militias (and terrorist groups) around the world.

Beau

I think the weapons they’re using are “slugthrowers”, basically just a regular gun. They look different from world to world, but they all basically do the same thing. Might be wrong, but that’s my head cannon. The design looks familiar because the function hasn’t really had to change.

Bella Lake

Please check out Widow’s Bay on Apple TV!! ❤️

Jess & Steph

We also really look forward to this each week and Andor isn’t just great Star Wars it’s excellent tv in general.

Sylvia

God that line Skeen delivers about the Empire taking his brother’s land and flooding his orchards is so Palestinian-olive-groves-coded it’s heartbreaking. Such breathtaking writing.

newdayatmidnight

yeah, Han Solo's iconic gun is famously a modified Mauser pistol, a very popular World War I-era gun

Carlos

Lewis Guns and M34s also had very little done to them to Star Wars them up.

Cris

It’s interesting to see the proliferation of galaxy or world ending plots in populist cinema in the past decade or so and how flat it can often feel in terms of stakes in comparison to something more localized and intimate. It imitates life, where impending ecological, political and societal collapse are often downplayed and swept aside. Stakes that large almost feel impersonal, as we struggle to wrap our head around what that actually looks like but something relatively minuscule in your personal sphere can feel so earth shattering and often holds more weight from the perspective of the audience.

na

they got whole herd of black phillps

7thdilemma

SPOILER DO NOT READ IF FIRST TIME WATCHER I also love how well Skeen's backstory works even after you find out that he never had a brother. Because even if Skeen never had a brother who drowned himself, that doesn't mean there was never a farm with centuries of trees that could have very well been someone's life. Parhaps that's the axe that Skeen remembers, and maybe he's where he is because he's the one that feels as though he's drowning.

Lahnna O

She also played the witches in The Tragedy of Macbeth!

Elias A. Dean

Please please watch SKELETON CREW after Season Two and ROGUE ONE

Jake Cardenas

The blasters aren’t technically infinite but like Jake said, they have to be reloaded with gas cartridges every so often

James W.

I like the gun designs, or lack thereof. Most of the weapons were just thinly redesigned guns from WWII films that they had in the armory at Pinewood Studios. Luke and Han's blst use a Broomhandle Mauser as the base with cool scopes and greeblies but the firearms we see the most are the E-11 Blaster rifle used by the Stormtroopers and those are pretty much unmodified Sterling Sub-machinegun with teh stock folded and no magazine inserted. All that to say, it is a bit jarring to something with a terrestrial profile that is so iconic, like an AK, but it is kind of a Star Wars thing to do that. On separate point, I think there may have been some subtext in them leaving the AK shape intact, since that is the weapon that is often connected with insurgent forces in media. Russia and China have been selling version of the AKs for a long time. Also, probably cheaper to just use stuff in the armory again.

Peter Gulka

He didn't say "I never had a brother"... he says "I DON'T have a brother"... which could work both ways. Never had, or doesn't have anymore... I like the angle that he did have a brother, and after he died, he cracked and was only in it for himself. I can see his brother being his moral compass, and without that, he turns into the character we see now.
