guys you gotta stop expecting characters to do what you want lol. They're not superheroes, they're people. When Eren discovers his two close friends are the reason his mum died, it makes sense for that to occupy his mind. Even an adult, experienced soldier would have a hard time focusing on the important questions - Eren is a deeply troubled teenager that was just betrayed by people he put all his trust in. I personally love this approach. I love this show because it focuses so much on the human condition and the psychology of the characters. The moment Reiner flips back to his soldier self, it's sorta heart-breaking. No matter his reasons for being here, he did spent the last few years training and growing up with these people, and he clearly had a hard time not getting attached. Even with him now clearly being the enemy, it's still very tragic

The flying whale in the intro used to keep me up at night. From what I gathered the intro has a prey vs predator theme, survival of the fittest, etc. The red heartbeats are I guess to represent life and that it’s all living things endure that struggle. It goes along with the previous quotes “if you win, you live”, “if we don’t fight we can’t win”, etc. Be or be killed basically 🫡

the monkey thing is actually a telling thing lost in translation here. Eren doesn't know what a monkey is. Also i think it's important to remember that reiner, eren, berholdt etc are like 15-17. they're teen soldier who have committed atrocities against ppl they grew to care about, and are not emotionally equipped to handle it. so reiner losing it totally tracks...eren's inability to control his temper as an angry angsty teen boy is probably the most realistic thing lol. He doesn't even have a mom to say "I HATE YOU MOM!" like a normal 15yo
