Half in the Bag: Evil Dead Rise

An Irish guy shot the latest installment of an American franchise in New Zealand. It's Evil Dead Rise! The first Evil Dead movie in a decade. Is the new film worth traveling to a disgusting movie theater to see??? Only the idiots that bring their crying infants to a disgustingly violent R-rated movie know for sure!

Didn't watch yet, but is the 37 minutes a nod to Kevin smith's recent mental health situation??

I can't place my finger on it, but did the boys get new HD cameras? Every so often recently I'm noticing just how crisp the picture is. Also I'm loving the lighting. RLM coins another new term, Gorror. Happy to see the boys at the repair shop again. Another winner Mike and Jay!

Picture quality, especially these days, has a lot more to do with lens choice and lighting. I doubt they got new cameras, as they’ve been using C300 cams for a while now and there’s no real reason to go beyond that platform until everyone has 12k iPhones in their pockets lol. Biggest thing is their lighting. They’ve gradually upgraded their lighting and gotten better and better at setting up interesting lighting for each shoot.

The first two Evil Dead and Army of Darkness are fun movies. The camera is not just there to capture images, it's more like a person being in the movie, experiencing. Evil Dead Rise doesn't seem to have these qualities, and I don't feel drawn to see the movie. Final Destination 3 draws me in because of the funny hard cut to the matching coffins. The editor, Chris G. Willingham, also edited 80s A-Team. Think of the A-Team what you will, but the editing was always good.

Lee Cronin apparently already has his next horror project lined up. An original movie called "Thaw" which sounds like some kind of climate change post apocalypse aquatic creature feature thing.

Thin episode, thinner than an RLM hoody. Haven't we learned? Whenever Rich Evans isn't on screen, everybody should be asking, 'Where's Rich Evans?

I just laughed like an idiot thinking of Mikes movie idea, the beauty of downtown Milwaukee passing for gorgeous New Zealand landscape.

Mike's thoughts on NZ movie shot in the US reminds me of many times Americans do horrendous Irish accents. DiCaprio/Diaz in Gangs of New York Julia Roberts in Michael Collins Michael J Fox in BttF 3 The Always Sunny Irish episodes with "Irish" actors was pretty bad at times too

I do love the evil dead movies and will watch them whenever I get the chance. Also, I love the triumphant return of long “boy band” hair Jay ❤️‍🔥😍

But what did the newborn baby think?

Love how the titles for the first three movies changes. Evil Dead, then II changed to Ash vs Evil Dead, and AoD starts with Bruce Campbell vs Evil Dead 🤭

Evil dies tonight!

You know, the film you wanted out of "Evil Dead Rise" pretty much already exists, down to modern building, gym and garage scenes- "Demons II".

I am craving some new BOTW goodness. A new Black Spine episode with Tim always satiates.

Mike gave a great Scottish impression at the end of the segment.

I just recently watched "Demons 2" from 1986 and it did the whole demonic possession running wild inside a high-rise apartment building so much better than "Evil Dead Rise" which is mostly a missed-opportunity on utilizing the premise.
