Kal's Flag Revisited (Patreon)

I have been working on Kal's flag some more over the past few days and came to the conclusion I was doing this all wrong.

Flags need to be simple, succinct, symbolic, and yet easily identifiable at a distance.

While I felt the color contrast was striking enough to be identifiable, and the symbolism was there, it sorely lacked simplicity.

So, I scrapped most of what I had and came up with the following three designs.

But first...

The colors and their meanings:

Light blue represents Kal's magic, as a large portion of his life revolves around it

Black comes from his cloak. Since Kal does not wear typical Mage or Wizard robes, he sees his cloak as an outward symbol of his status as a magic-user

Yellow represents Ikuno's horns and to a much lesser extent his business investments

Dark Blue represents Ikuno but also represents Monster Girls in general as she was the first he met

The Maroon is taken from Perra's dress and represents not just her but his core group of women. I chose her specifically because it's a reminder that a woman does not have to be a monster girl to be one of his lovers.

Last is the light gray stripe. The gray symbolizes the stone of Prentas's tower, and hence, the birthplace of monster girls. But it also represents the gray stone of Felli's peak as Kal looks toward the future.

I have put some iterations of the flags below and would like to know which of them you prefer, or if none of them tickle your fancy.

As I said earlier, I discarded some of what I had already worked on but decided to re-task the rest. Instead of putting the graphics on a flag, I put them on a shield/badge, which Thiben and the others can wear to denote they work for Kal.

For a quick rundown, I ditched the scythe and instead went with Kashka's daggers on either side of the staff and added a set of golden horns representing Ikuno on the other. I think this represents Kal's physical and magical prowess while making the shield unique and easily recognizable. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and don't forget to vote!
