A second in a duel is there to witness and settle the affairs of the person dueling (if they die). Sienna is the name of the Opera singer. And yeah, Simon is bending his vow here...but he really just swore that the Hastings line will die with him. The Bridgerton kids are named alphabetically (which makes it easier to remember them). Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth.

poor Marina, that entire family (besides Penelope) has been treating her like shit and can't wait to dump her off to anyone that "wants her" just so they would "stop a scandal" from happening. And you're absolutely right, the Prince is so nice and if he came into the picture before Simon we probably wouldn't be so set on Daphne and Simon. and also you're spot on about their mom (and the same goes for Lady Danbury), I think it was such a rare case in that time to have a parent that puts their kids desires and wishes before the "social status" or values. what confused me the most about the duel is like...why would you have it when you thought only three of y'all saw it...like just clamp y'alls mouths and move on

It's interesting watching Bridgerton with someone who doesn't really know as much of the historical context or seem to watch much historical drama (sorry if I'm assuming but just relative to how it feels to me as a history major LOL), I'm so glad you're having so much fun with the show!!! That said yea everyone was in the wrong and the right but like... pretend Daphne has the innocence of like a 12 year old - there's no internet she knows nothing except it's "improper" to be alone with a man and she'll be shunned, her family will be shunned, their name and legacy and the life of all of her sisters will be ruined... Simon did know better and Anthony is right (for once lol). And Penelope and their Maid finally calling out Eloise's privileged nosy ass was SO vindicating for me lmao, love her being the modern women within the show for us but also... girlie only gets to be written that way because she's ridiculously privileged, has a lovely very modern minded family who allow women to have any choice and care about love, she was allowed to wait another year before having her debut thanks to her mum, and she's pretty and smart GIRL stop being on Penelope and Daphne's asses for wanting to figure out what they want and being happy with finding happiness within society as it is since it's not going to change for hundreds of years. Love Eloise, LOVE SIMON, but everyone is too much this episode and when we're following historical society and rules which is the context of the show I have THOUGHTS. But also I'm with you who cares because.... Simone and Daphne are true love. <3

It's kinda sad that Daphne has to go to such lengths (not getting children, even tho she would prolly love to) just so this dude she has a crush on marries her, after basically begging him over and over again to come clean about how he feels about her, so she knows if she should hold on or move on... He is lowkey just using her, whenever he feels like it and whenever it fits in his schedule. Unpopular opinion, but as much as I like Simon, sometimes I think Daphne and the Prince would have been the better pairing. The Prince seemed truly interested in her, and it seemed like he found her charming, funny and seriously wanted to get to know her and be with her. Simon seemed to like her, but also not really, and he is so stubborn and arrogant and lowkey aggressive and mean to her several times. They have cute scenes, but they also have scenes where I felt like he was only really caring about himself and what he wants, and not how Daphne might feel. I love Bridgerton, but it's nice that this is just a made up story, cause y'all, please don't ever change yourself so much for someone who you have only just been seeing for a short while... find someone who enjoys the same things you do, or who at least isn't only willing to be with you, if you change something about yourself. It's really sad when people stop doing things or don't follow their dreams anymore for someone who isn't even willing to change or do the same for you. If they are only interested in a serious relationship with you, if you change yourself to better fit in their lifestyle, then they don't actually love who you truly are to begin with.
