... in Mordor, where the shadows are.

The Fall of Gil-galad. Very unfittingly, there are a few hilarities here. First, of course, there is Bert, of Gondolin fame, on Gil-galad's left. (The one holding the banner is Elrond. So it remains to be seen if Bert finds his death in Mordor, or whether he made it to Rivendell with Elrond... It would be fitting, as he once chaperoned Elrond's grandmother.)

Hilarity #2: Gil-galad was modelled by my daughter. (His horse, incidentally, is not the shetland pony she was riding at the time.) This kid is the best. Catch her at the end of a riding lesson, point your camera, and tell her, "Can you look heroically into the distance for me, please?", and she does it in an instant.

Oh, this looks exciting! (Bert? What have I missed/forgotten?) Also, your daughter is an excellent model. :)

Bert the Umimpressed Guard made his first appearance in "And their eyes met", as Idril's guard. I've given him his own hashtag now so he's easier to track. XD

Bert goes to Mordor! Looking forward to this! He's a survivor.

Bert is unimpressed by either Sauron’s hype or his burning hand of doom.

I am so incredibly excited!! You continue to do great things 😊

This is such a cool composition. How do you do to get a proper perspective like this looking at the people from below?

I found - and took - the right reference photos. There are quite a few stock photos of riders at that angle; most of them had Western riders and some had a lot of camera distortion, but I used the general setup of limbs from some photos, and then used the ones I'd made of my daughter just to get the poses right in perspective. Wihout ref, I'd be lost here too.

Ooh, this is looking good! I know you’re having a tough time with limits on how much art you can do, but the things you do (and they are actually not that few), are lovely pieces!

I need to churn out as much as I can this weekend - school starts again on Monday, and I'm not sure I can keep up the discipline and self-care to keep creating at this level. Well, maybe definitely not at this level. But hopefully, at about half.

This promises to be good, especially with your daughter as a model :D
