There's so much new about this piece!

  • Drawn on the iPad
  • Painted with all-new brushes (my old synthetic ones were four years old - from back when I made the new year's resolution of no longer using actual animal hair - and of course, while real-hair brushes last ten years or so, my synthtic ones had to be replaced and I didn't notice.)
  • Using fun new stuff I indulged in over Christmas! I got the little peacock brush stand in the last post from Etsy, as well as the gorgeous seashell palette in the next picture. And a few other pretty things, like hand-made paints and another palette.
  • New granulating paints! German brand Schmincke has brought out a few granulating ones, and here's Glacier Green mixed with Ultramarine for Fingolfin's tunic.

It is so vibrant with joy, this scene. Brightens me up no end! =D And then those paint names, they sound like music and look utterly beautiful. Glacier green indeed!

I had to pull up your painting of Fingon actually fighting Glaurung to see if Fingon is wearing the same cloths. And he does! I love continuity.

I'm so glad you commented on that! When I pulled up the Glaurung piece, first in the sketch and now for the colours, to make sure it was all consistent, I kept thinking, "Why go through all this bother? You really think anyone is going to check?" YES! Thank you! =D

I could look at the happiness on Fingon's face for ages! What a joyous scene :) This (and the little Maglor badge that came with my latest order from your Etsy today!) made my evening a lot happier :)

This whole piece brings a big smile to my face already. I'm so happy an iPad is working out for you!
