I don’t usually watch Platoon more than once per year because it’s so heavy but for you guys I will.

Not an easy movie to watch or react to but I thought you both did a great job. Even though I have seen it several times there are scenes I usually skip over. Really enjoy your channel!

Born on the 4th of July is pretty good, one of my favorite many War movies. War is a very nasty time for any individual, i can say Barnes was made because of how War made him; but the one you really had to watch though was Bunny, his the one that killed that poor kid with one leg, he was ready to kill anyone.

Charlie Sheen & Tom Berenger in a comedy: "Major League" (1989)

Tom Berenger, Dale Dye, & Francisco Quinn: "Rough Riders" (1997) *True Story* Tom Berenger & Martin Sheen: "Gettysburg" (1993) *True Story* both good choices for Memorial Day or 4th of July

"Full Metal Jacket" was all fiction. "Platoon" was fiction but based on Oliver Stone's real life experiences as a soldier in Vietnam now for a true story: - "We Were Soldiers" (2002) based on the book "We Were Soldiers Once . . . And Young" by reporter Joe Galloway & Lt. General Hal Moore. starring Mel Gibson, Barry Pepper, Sam Elliott, Ryan Hurst, Madeleine Stowe and a whole bunch of young actors when they were just starting out before becoming well known

Barnes was right about the village. Notice that the only people in the village were women, young children, and older men. There were no men of "military age" (teens through late 30's), even though as a farming village there should have been lots of men to work the fields and tend to the crops and animals. All of the men were in the jungle fighting against the South Vietnamese government and Americans as Viet Cong. And they were most likely the ones who tortured and butchered Manny after snatching him from the VC bunker complex.

If you haven't had enough Vietnam movies, try "The Siege Of Firebase Gloria." With R. Lee Ermey and Wings Hauser. It is loaded with "Nam buzzwords and phrases and distills many true stories into one fictional story. But it resembled my firebase.
