All except "First Blood Part II" (1985). Skip all the rest. They're pretty much the same.

Totally Whatever

Serenity has been recorded. Full-length will be shared tomorrow!

"Die Hard 2" is OK but nothing special, but "Die Hard (3) With A Vengeance" is as good as the first one. DH2 is another Christmas movie, DHWaV is a summer movie. "Predator 2" is pretty good, plus has easter eggs if you are going to go to the "AvP" series "Rambo FB Pt2" and "Rambo 3" are prerequisites for watching the spoof comedy "Hot Shots Part Deux" (also needs "The Guns of Navarone" (1961)) "Tremors 2: Aftershocks" is another sequel that I would like to see you do.

James Hadden

You managed to pick all the franchises with terrible second movies for the same poll 😜 Just kidding(ish), they’re not that bad. If Die Hard 2 opens the door to you watching Die Hard 3 (soooo much better) then I hope that wins.

FranciscoGios

Die Hard 2 is the weak one of the three; but like someone said Die Hard With a Vengeance is Top Tier. So I went for Predator 2

Shawn Goforth

I would agree that none of these sequels are very good. They all had different directors from the first films, so they feel very different. However, I remember reading somewhere that the sequel to Jaws is also called Close Encounters of the Third Kind, so we could give that one a try if it wins.

Totally Whatever

Can we do Die Hard with a Vegeance without seeing Die Hard 2?

Totally Whatever

A couple of follow-up questions: What sequels do you want for the next poll? Should we open up to summer blockbusters too?

Mark M

These sequels seem to be getting a bunch of unwarranted negativity. I think you will love Die Hard 2(even if its better to watch at Christmas). I voted for Predator 2 because its Predator and you get to watch yet another Bill Paxton movie.

James Hadden

You need not worry, as you know movie quality is highly subjective, even professional critics rarely agree on anything, and they know a lot more than me.

FranciscoGios

Sorry ladies I deleted a recent comment of mine, what i meant was about story wise in DH 2 you won't miss anything.

thansen

None of these sequels are as good as the first films but they are all entertaining and good fun. I went with Jaws 2 simply because I enjoyed the reaction to Jaws so much.

Mark M

if you open it up to Summer Blockbusters as well I would suggest Speed (1994)with Keanu Reeves. It's not a Summer Blockbuster because it was originally released in December but the 2nd highest grossing film of 1978 was Superman: The Movie. A new Superman movie will be coming out this summer.

Shawn Goforth

These would depend on your having seen the first ones, but here are a few I'd enjoy. I threw a couple of fun ones in too, just in case anyone thinks we're judging too harshly: Godfather II Both Indiana Jones sequels (No, there are only two) Back to the Future Dawn of the Dead Karate Kid II TMNT: Secret of the Ooze Magnum Force D2: The Mighty Ducks Wes Craven's New Nightmare (Kind of a one-off throwback to the first film. I don't think it's necessary to see all the others before this). Top Gun: Maverick - Slipping that one in here, if we can make an exception.

Patrick Flanagan

Probably, but DIE HARD 2 is decent enough that you may as well give it a whirl. VENGEANCE is fantastic though.

FranciscoGios

It's winning the poll, maybe 50/50 chance it gets picked πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

You know how much we love Bill Paxton! He pops up everywhere.

As many have said, none of these 4 sequels are as good as their original films, but I also agree they are probably all worth a watch (maybe not a reaction). One distinction I would make is that with Die Hard 2 & Jaws 2 it's very much the same formula repeated with slight variations, while Predator 2 and Rambo take their franchises in somewhat new directions. Another thing I'd mention that gets forgotten today is how huge a movie Rambo was; the 2nd highest grossing movie of '85 (after Back to the Future!), it really did help spawn all the action movies of the late '80s and early '90s.

Totally Whatever

Good to know. We might look at some summer blockbusters too.

bahstuffandnonsense

Other top sequels from the 70s to 90s: The Empire Strikes Back (best sequel ever, duh), The Godfather Part II, The Road Warrior, Star Trek II, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (yes, I know it's a prequel), Babe: Pig in the City (for a totally different genre). Also I absolutely second a reaction for Speed - you've done 3 of the top 4 action movies of all time already, only 1 left! (The Terminator, Aliens, and Die Hard are the others) And while I'm rambling I'll mention The Sting, we need to get you ladies started on caper/heist films!

Totally Whatever

We would need to see The Godfather Part 1 and Star Trek 1 first! We've seen Star Wars but it has been a while, same with Indiana Jones

Mike the Ginger

This is a tough one. Die Hard 2 is really good, but it takes place Christmas Eve like the first film. I would save that one for Christmas time. (Same with the first Lethal Weapon film). I would say Jaws 2, Predator 2 or First Blood Rambo 2 are likely your best bets.

Om

I'm torn between Predator 2 and Die Hard 2. The latter because it's reasonably decent movie. The former because it's so atrociously over the top terrible that I think it'll be fun to see you suff... ah, I mean, enjoy it. I'm going to vote Predator 2 because it at least moves you nearer to watching Prey which is the best of the Predator movies (fight me, everyone!)

Om

Looking through the list of movies you've reacted to, there's Aliens 4 still to watch. The franchise never gets as good as the first three movies imo, but 4 still has some interesting twists and turns. There are also the other in-universe movies you could watch: Prometheus, Covenant and Romulus. But heads-up, they are... divisive. Prometheus and Covenant in particular. Eighties sequels... Gremlins 2 is absolute bedlam. I've never worked out if it's a good movie or a bad one. But I'm not sure if you've seen the first one or not and if you haven't, it's a great Christmas movie. Big Trouble In Little China doesn't have a sequel (nor does it need one), but John Carpenter has done a lot of movies. As you've watched that and The Thing, you could round it out with watching They Live (it's great) or Prince of Darkness (probably too horrible - I found it scarier than The Thing). I tell you what would be a great Eighties movie, although not a sequel. The Warriors. It's a cult classic with a lot of fans and very fun to watch. I'd say it's one of the defining movies of the Eighties were it not for the fact it came out in 1979. Still, close enough.

Om

If the sequels Mr. Hadden above picked out are bad, that's nothing compared to the later instalments of Starship Troopers and Species. I know you reacted to these on your channel but don't be tempted to watch the sequels - nothing good lies down that path.

Totally Whatever

These are all fabulous suggestions. Thank you! Also, we love your profile picture.

Grampa Brad

I agree, Prey is the best Predator movie

Professional movie critics THINK they know more than you.
