I wasn't expecting to see Band of Brothers here, since that series was from the 2000s.

Nice, Band of Brothers!

Totally Whatever

It was requested so much after our Saving Private Ryan reaction that we made an exception. It's also only 10 episodes, so it will be an easy one to finish quickly.

Phil Stubblefield

Having watched Saving Private Ryan, you know what to expect from Band of Brothers. Some scenes are exciting, others are difficult to watch, but the series is so very important because it reminds us of the sacrifices that were made so that we might have the freedoms that we enjoy today.

Not sure if you have recorded it yet, but when Band of Brothers originally showed on HBO, Ep 1 & Ep 2 were shown together as a single double-length episode. Ep 2 picks up exactly at the end of Ep 1, they form a single story-arc. After you watch Eps 1 & 2, good followups are the true story movies "The Longest Day" (1962) and "Operation Mincemeat" (2021) After you watch Eps 4 & 5, a good followup is the true story movie "A Bridge Too Far" (1977) After you watch Eps 6 & 7, a good followup is the true story biographical movie "Patton" (1970)

❤️ Right now, we will only post movie reactions on our YT channel.

Totally Whatever

Yes, we have recorded 1 & 2 already. Thanks for the viewing suggestions!

Totally Whatever

Yes, after watching Saving Private Ryan everyone in the comments said that Band of Brothers was an important follow up. Especially with the pre-episode interviews from survivors.

I am actually a bit relieved to hear that. My initial thought to your response was, "Of course. We would expect the BoB requests to come out of the woodwork on Saving Private Ryan." I respect and follow your logic on selecting that series, and it has become a part of a standard formula for building YT channels, for better or worse. It should be one that can be covered quickly; although, if they are ever posted for the channel, you should immediately expect just as many requests for the "We Stand Alone Together" doc, The Pacific, followed soon after by Masters of the Air. They are all well-made, but before too long, you have accidentally inherited a military content channel, in which each new poll will be overrun suggestions for movies about submarines and the men who love them.

Before I start taking fire in the comments, my entire family has a heavy military background (which is why I might even notice this trend). It's also why I don't mind sharing that the war content is hard for me. It can be nice in small doses, but when it becomes the go-to, because the views and comments pile up faster, it's harder for me to remain engaged. I know that's a personal issue, but wanted to put out the perspective. It's never been able to serve as that entertaining escape for me. It hits very differently than other genres.

Phil Stubblefield

I appreciate your comments, Shawn! For those with few military family or friends, I think it can be difficult to understand the impact of war movies. One member of my extended family was killed in action, but I didn't know him well and thus felt the impact second-hand through his immediate family members. I can only imagine how difficult it would be in other circumstances.

Shawn Goforth

Thank you, Phil. It's unfortunate that the ones made with care are harder. We can watch things like Commando and Inglourious Basterds all day long, but I can't remember the last time I was able to sit through Platoon or The Deer Hunter, and truly enjoy the experience. They're incredible films, but my usual response is "Thanks anyway, I'm good."
