That's this evening sorted, thanks!

Will this get a YT edit? Hard to say, but not sure if it would get the view levels you would want.

AdrianF

Loved the reaction, just finished it.

im loading up now, I really think it's been 20 years, but this was an easy guilty pleasure watch, and 1 of the 1st to be on repeat on 90s cable, fun, light with dark turn but also as i posted before this was a throwaway movie in between intended hits, so when this hit big hollywood knew cruise was more than a star but a generational talent

Totally Whatever

We aren't sure either. We would love to have everything turned into a YouTube edit, but you are right; it needs to reach a certain level of views.

This was a fun reaction. I just wrote a paragraph and accidentally deleted it. Bryan Brown starred in the movie F/X (1986) an action thriller about a special effects expert. You should add it to the list😊

REDR58

Yes F/X is a fun movie.

I went to New York City for an 8th grade school field trip in the late 1980s and we took a bus (not a school bus!) similar to the one in the movie. We ate at the "Windows on the World" restaurant that was on the 106th and 107th floors of the North Tower. It was the only time I was ever in the building. Brian’s Uncle Pat was played by Ron Dean, one of the Chicago Police Detectives chasing Kimbal in The Fugitive. I don’t remember TGI Friday’s ever looking like a real bar, but apparently, they used to! The TGIF in the movie was a real location and it seems Cruise and Bryan Brown were trained by TGIF staff. TGIF got its start as local bar and basically turned into the franchise that Brian hoped to happen with his own bar. The actor Paul Benedict playing the teacher who shouted at Brian to wake up in class was in "Spinal Tap" as the hotel clerk who gets insulted by the band's manager when they are given the wrong room. The woman all in black with the camera is Gina Gershon and she is probably most famous for the movies "Showgirls" (1995) and "Bound" (1996). She is also in the buddy cop action movie "Red Heat" (1988) with Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi which you ladies should definitely check out. It's a really fun movie. The most I knew about "Cocktail" before watching it tonight was The Beach Boys video "Kokomo" which was on MTV quite a bit when the movie came out: https://youtu.be/fJWmbLS2_ec?si=Zjbw9xWOdxw9q-de Also, "Kokomo" is a fictional place. Had no idea! Elizabeth Shue was in The Karate Kid (1984) which you would watch! The name of the piece at the end of shoelaces is "aglet"! But "fluegelbinder" sounds more fun! Jordan has a cool apartment but no handholds on her stairway makes me nervous. 😄 Did you notice that Brian asks “is it mine?” when she told him she’s pregnant?? What the heck, man! Another Tom Cruise movie you should check out is "Taps" (1981) which is the movie that he made his first starring role in AND was filmed near where I was living at the time! Also, "Risky Business" (1983) and "Rain Man" (1988). For some reason the woman Andrea Doven (credited as Andrea Morse here) with the bit part playing "Dulcy" who was Jordan's friend that told Brian she flew back to New York looked familiar, but I couldn't place her. Turned out she was not who I thought she was and only acted in 3 movies total, but she was an assistant to Tom Cruise and his then-wife Nicole Kidman on a number of movies they were in together and separately throughout the 1990s, though this was the only movie she was ever in with Cruise. Really fun reaction. This was a first time watch for me too.

Totally Whatever

Glad we could watch this for the first time together! Thanks for sharing the "Kokomo" music video link. I'm certain this is why we both thought the entire movie took place on the beach. Our parents would only play the following music: The Beach Boys, Barry Manilow, Broadway, or classical. So we must have seen the music video.

REDR58

When I was growing up in the 1980s, and our family would take road trips, my parents had maybe two or three audiocassettes in the car and I cannot tell you how many times we listened to Olivia Newton-John, Lionel Richie, and Zamfir and his pan flute!

Totally Whatever

We did those road trips too! Seems we really missed out on Zamfir and his plan flute, though.
