This is such a feel good Family film! Steve Guttenberg and G.W. Bailey (Skroeder) had worked together before this in the Comedy franchise Police Academy which is a fun series of films. When Johnny 5 says, "Today, Crosby! Today!" is a reference to what Bailey's character says often to other characters in those films. Some trivia: Puppeteer Tim Blaney was selected to voice and operate Number 5 on set, after John Badham heard Blaney's robot voice and liked it. Blaney was originally intended to supply only a placeholder voice for Number 5 during filming, which was to be dubbed over later by another voice actor. After three months of filming, the crew got so used to hearing Blaney's voice as Number 5 that they could not imagine anyone else in the role, and so Blaney was officially cast. He also returns to voice Johnny in the sequel that you should definitely watch!

Greg In East TN

He is not listed on IMDB, but I swear the garbage truck driver at the first of the movie looks just like Bob Vila (an American home improvement television show host known for This Old House (1979–1989)). Austin Pendleton, the head of Nova was also the public defender in My Cousin Vinnie. G W Bailey was Rex's sidekick in Rustler's Rhapsody, and in the Police Academy series of movies. This is just a fun movie. I'm glad you liked it! Be well, Greg.

Staying Alive like # 5 .. Short Circuit is another great comedy classic with Ally Sheedy who was in The Breakfast Club and of course member of the infamous Brat pack . The robotic effects and the voice acting is great in this . hoping for a day free of glitches and hopefully nothing short circuits on any of us today !!⚡🔌😁

Number 5... is alive?

Totally Whatever

Love the story about Tim Blaney! I could see how they would get attached to his voice; it's perfect.

Yes had a good day thankfully no glitches !😉

Thanks for watching this under appreciated classic. I enjoyed “Chappie” if you're in the mood for more “NO DISASSEMBLE!” Flicks. Otherwise I would reccomend “Heaven Can Wait”, or “Throw Mama from the Train”, or “Sex, Lies, and Videotape” if you're in the mood for more under appreciated gems.
