๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ”ฅ It is officially Lord of the Rings week! With the 25th anniversary happening this year, we thought it was the perfect time to finally dive into the world of hobbits, elves, and wizards.

Per your suggestions, we watched the Extended Cut, which means we are breaking the reaction into two parts. That gives us two big premieres this week (Friday & Saturday), and we will be chatting LIVE at both of them.

To wrap up the week, we are also throwing in a little Patrick Swayze with Point Break, our Member's Choice winner for May. Thank you all for voting, supporting the channels, and being the absolute best community on the internet.

Reaaaallly. I'm envious that you're about to watch LOTR for the first time! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did ๐Ÿ˜€

Joe W

LORD OF THE RINGS! As a Tolkien fan, someone who has read 99% of everything he has written and even though the films are only about 40% of the books content... ...this is the greatest trilogy ever made!

GomezAddams

Hope it's the extended versions, it's just more of something you're gonna love. ๐Ÿ—ก๐Ÿน๐Ÿช“๐Ÿซถ

Mark M

LOTR!! I'm so excited to go on this journey with you! A new LOTR Lego set released today and I'm doing all I can to not buy it.

AdrianF

Excellent stuff. I was about to watch LOTR again as well so I'm glad I didn't get round to it.

REDR58

Extended for me all the way. Iโ€™ve seen the theatrical versions exactly one time in the theater when they originally released.

Wade Wallenstein

I haven't watched the LOTR films in full for a couple years so I'm due lol. YouTube edits for The Stand are awesome!

Bill Elliott

No words can describe the joy of my inner my child right now, my favorite book, and one of the best film adaptations of a book, you guys are in for a real treat for this trilogy. Gonna have some long nerd posts from me here, cut me off if you want, no need to be polite, I suspect Iโ€™m not alone in my enthusiasm or LOTR lore knowledge.

Sam

Can't wait to watch your reaction to the greatest trilogy ever made. AND WOW, 800 new subscribers over the last 2 weeks - definitely on track for July 4 50,000. Especially with LOTR helping to add more.

Bill Elliott

Know youโ€™ve been asking for this for a while, happy for you man, gonna be a good post, Iโ€™m a fan too.

Greg In East TN

Everybody starts with LOTR, when they should be starting with The Hobbit. Yeah, I know it came out 2nd, but it is the back story for LOTR.

Joe Shwartz

Ooh Iโ€™m excited to watch along to Point Break with you!

FranciscoGios

My mind is blown that you two haven't seen LOTR!! & Point Break is very good next to Speed almost.

Byrd N. Hand

Agreed. LOTR wouldn't exist without The Hobbit, since, after it was published, Tolkien's publishers wanted another Hobbit-centric story from him instead of what he'd had written for The Silmarillion at the time. I know of one smaller channel that's watched the saga in chronological order (though he wasn't able to get access to the extended cuts of the "Hobbit" movies at the time ๐Ÿ˜•). Still hoping another channel will have the cajones to do it one of these days. ๐Ÿค”

Totally Whatever

Try to resist! OR buy it and share pictures once itโ€™s completed ๐Ÿ˜‰

Totally Whatever

Yes, everyone told us to see the extended version! We listened.

Totally Whatever

We should have started with The Hobbit?! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Totally Whatever

First Keanu on the channel! Weโ€™ve both seen Speed so Iโ€™m glad Point Break is the next best thing.

Joe W

When you've seen all three movies I will do a very long paragraph about the 60% (by my estimates) is missing ๐Ÿ˜‚ Don't get me wrong, even with it being a slimmed down story, it's the best trilogy ever made.

Greg In East TN

Well, it was the first book in the series. It give you the back story on Hobbits and how things led to the finding of the ring of power. But it's no big deal the order you watch them in. But you do need to watch The Hobbit series, too.

GomezAddams

Ya'll just keep getting more awesomer. ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿซถ

Sam

Now I am in a quandry - do I watch part 1 on the 5th then impatiently wait until the next afternoon to watch part 2 OR wait and watch part 1 on the 6th right before watching part 2 OR watch part 1 on the 5th then part 2 on the 6th then watch both together on the 7th? Nanette/Carolyn - what's your vote?

Joel P

Holy S***! I thought you both had already seen LotR. I'm very excited.

Joel P

No, starting with LotR is fine.

Mike the Ginger

Now that we are in June, I wonder if we will see some summertime blockbusters like Armageddon, Air Force One, Independence Day or summer fun movies like The Great Outdoors, American Graffiti, National Lampoonโ€™s Vacation. Before we know it we will be in Halloween horror season!

Byrd N. Hand

It won't kill you to watch LOTR first, since that's how millions of people (myself included) first experienced these movies. The main advantage of watching the "Hobbit" movies first is that you'll already have a frame of reference for anything regarding Bilbo's quest (the Trolls, Sting, the mithril coat, etc.) - and thus makes for a better 'passing of the torch' from him to Frodo as the main protagonist in these movies, IMO - as well as the characters of Balin (the Dwarf whose tomb the Fellowship found in Moria) and Saruman (which would make his betrayal in this first LOTR movie at least a bit more shocking). Of course, you *could* go outside of the box and do a sort of 'machete order' by watching all 3 "Hobbit" movies (make sure they're the extended cuts as well, for future reference) next before resuming this trilogy ๐Ÿคจ... but I'm not gonna hold my breath -- even if I do think the absolute finality provided at the end of "The Return of the King" makes for a better way to end the saga (as with "Return of the Jedi" for Star Wars).

Bill Elliott

โ€œThere is only one Lord of the Ring, only one who can bend it his willโ€ฆ.and he does not SHARE powerโ€ฆ..โ€

Byrd N. Hand

I'll add "The Sandlot" and "Dazed and Confused."

Totally Whatever

That's tricky! We would love for you to chat with us during each premiere.

Joe W

And that word would be?
