E-3 You'll notice that there's a new cast member, Peter Lupus. He was a regular on the 1966-1973 suspense drama Mission: Impossible. FUN FACT: The leader of the team on that show was Peter Graves, aka Cpt. Clarence Oveur on Airplane! The elevator scene again. I haven't seen an 8-track tape in ages! Did you recognize Tommy Lasorda, former manager of the Dodgers? He was a real character on the field and off. He once said about Atlanta Braves catcher Bruce Benedict (known as a slow runner) "He'd come in third in a race with a pregnant woman!" LOL He had tons of sayings like that. Those revolvers sure held a lot of bullets! E-4 Go back and read the title of the magazine the night watchman was reading. There was a picture of Rex Hamilton (Abe Lincoln) behind the judge. Must be nice to have a cafeteria in the office! Al's hair in this episode was about the same length that mine is (but I'm not trying something different). The "too much caffeine makes me nervous" line was from a Sanka coffee commercial in the 70s and 80. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8dIfr_c0bA Did you notice the "toe" truck? In the squad room when questioning the crook, they had the bright lights like an old style cop squad. And the "let's say" line is from Airplane! when Striker says, "It's an entirely different type of flying....altogether." And Dr Rumak and the stewardess say, "It's an entirely different type of flying" together. After Frank, the lady in the Johnny's chair is Dr. Joyce Brothers, a psychiatrist, tv personality and game show panelist. Looking at that long cord on the phone makes me ask myself, "How did we ever live without cell phones? That typewriter is an IBM Selectric electric typewriter (the kind with the little ball that goes back and forth, doing the typing. I used one of those in my second year of typing in high school, and later in the 80s when I wrote technical testing and operating instructions at a nuclear power plant. Nobody remembers them now. The stake-out reminds me of an old joke: Cop: Your eyes are red. Have you been smoking dope? Driver: Your eyes are glazed over. Have you been eating donuts? The plunger not setting off the explosives is like the end of Blazing Saddles in the fake town.
