WIP. Venom (Patreon)
Content
Hi.
Earlier there wasn't much to talk about earlier, so I was putting off writing this post over and over again. Now I feel like it's time to put these writing muscles to use and cover a few things - the Venom WIP and The Wheel.
And because I can't put any NSFW content in a public post, this one will be about Venom, while the next one will be about The Wheel. (galactic scale fumble btw)
#Venom WIP
Basically, it's done. I’m just waiting for the final shot to finish rendering so I can move on to compositing. This post isn't meant to be a full breakdown of the process, (99% there will be a separate one) so let's keep it light and just go over a few shots.
#shot 1
This is rough, this isn't good.
At the time I still wasn't sure about the lighting, but I didn't want to wait until every shot was finished before starting to render. So I ended up with this ugly flat white/yellowish color. I'm not sure why I didn't at least make it more colorful.
I think this first shot will be the hardest to fix in post, but at least everything is split into layers, which should make compositing easier.
You know what? Looking at it now without the background, it doesn't actually look that bad. Does it?
(Got scared for a second seeing she has a top on. Double checked that with a final version and thankfully that was fixed)
#shot 2
I tried to make this one more colorful by adding two side lights - one orange and one blue. It's better, but it still hasn't peaked yet.
Here's a quick lighting progression:
#shot 3
Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? I think I peaked on this one. Compare it to the very first shot - it's a stark difference. This is easily the best result so far, but it still has some problems later on.I am telling you, it's this background. It's lit incorrectly, it's too bright and thus feels out of place.
#Compositing
Amount of compositing will be insane on this one, but here is something more interesting.
Saw this post on X, looks very interesting:
I like how good the end result looks, without any post work. (I assume)Should I try to do something like this? I don't know anything about "film", but the end look might be worth a try.I wonder if you can easily do something like this on the phone? Something tells me it's a bit more complicated than simply applying a filter on a photo, but I might be wrong.
Anyway, that's it for this post. The next one will be about the wheel, so make sure to read it.o7.
