The marriage route for Fated Mates Night IV is now available. Sorry for how long this one took. I really should have been more realistic with my estimate for how long it would be, and also in better communication. I was stuck in this delusional "it's-almost-done" loop for two weeks, totally wishful thinking on my end and with each day that went by I got more and more anxious about it taking so long that writing became that much more challenging. To be frank, I just wasn't clicking with this route. It's one I added more out of wanting to offer marriage to readers who wanted it, but it's tough to write something where you don't feel that creative spark.

At the same time, I had what I'm playfully calling virgin fatigue. This is, thank goodness, the final time our MC is losing her virginity and I'm so breaking my diet for alcohol and white chocolate to celebrate. In general, I'm one of those gals who enjoys a good "first time" soulmate sex scene, but between Classic, Dark Maiden, the standard FM route, and the OG Heretic route, I am so over the vanilla first time scenes and ready to get kinky. There are only so many ways to write the same character losing her virginity and I very nearly broke down and started copy/pasting from other routes. But I didn't!

While writing and rewriting this scene and I came to the conclusion that I had to spice it up a bit. I ended up introducing a darksinger mechanic that has been hinted at but not yet seen in the sex scenes, and it helped immensely with pushing through the writer's block, while also making the scene more interesting and unique. I also think it fit in well, given the different vibe of the FM marriage route.

There were a few aspects of this update that I liked, particularly the MC's time with Serax, and I'm glad to see her getting a real bath and clothes, finally.

Bugfix

I fixed a bug that caused players named Isaveth to get routed off the marriage path. The name variables have been a real clusterfork coding-wise, but I think they're all sorted out now.

Password

Passwords will stay the same for now. The coding for the alt link password is a big headache and I didn't sleep last night, so I'm not going to go fiddling with it.
