“I don’t care about how they were able to get close without you being able to sense them.”
“What I care about is what you do now that you have them.”
“Kill them, Davenor. Don’t lose the precious opportunity that fell into your lap!” I ordered.
Of course, I am angry at these bastards. They not only let the enemy reach the Armada, but also let it burn more than half its ships. That is a massive loss.
The only way they could escape the punishment was to kill the enemies. Hell, I would even reward them once they did it.
They have to kill the enemies, not only for their sake but also for my sake. If they failed, they wouldn’t be the only ones punished.
The chances of success are good, because we have a lot of experience in that group and our success rate is very high.
I cut the call after a few more commands, before calling Thaelorn.
‘I have checked every inch of the horde; I am not seeing a sign of Silver’s men or any alchfire orbs,’ he informed without even a greeting. I usually don’t like this, but right now, I don’t care.
“Good, then march toward Norke and attack Thaelorn,” I ordered, and immediately felt Knight’s gaze.
“Don’t fail me this time,” I warned before cutting the call.
“Is it really wise to attack Norke in a hurry?” asked Liorian, who had been silent until now.
“He had attacked us; we have to respond.”
“Most importantly, Silver had used men from Greltheaven and Panar for this attack. Means he had not reinforced Norke; this is our best chance to attack it and take it back.”
I held a horde ready to attack Norke, but I didn’t because I thought he might be hiding reinforcements.
Now, I do not believe so. Even if there are some, we will handle them. I didn’t just reinforce the horde with undead, but also sent more powerhouses.
I will take Norke back; there is nothing Silver could do to stop me. If Davenor doesn’t fail me, I will have Gailhorn in my hands as well.
With these two cities, I will be able to launch a three-pronged attack on Panar.
I thought I would have to wait, but Silver delivered the opportunity himself. Now, Davenor just has to do his job, which is easy, seeing the enemy has come to him.
With that in mind, I couldn’t help but smile.
…
A few seconds before
General Stone
A dusky light shone, and Archbishop appeared as the bubble moved up.
It’s incredible skill. I had seen something like it once.
“General,” she greeted.
“Your Excellency,”
She would have come with us earlier, but we didn’t want to alert the undead. They might have been suspicious if they didn’t find her on the wall.
The bubble came out of the sea and burst, making our feet touch the sea.
All around us, ships are burning, except for the three in the center. There were others that are not burning, but they are not in the center.
Immediately, I felt eyes on me, and I turned to look directly into the dark blue, flame eyes of Lich Davenor and his violet bone skull. It is said his entire body is forged out of the bones of a Talenus Lion, a death elemental monster.
Seeing him, that sea of hate buried in my heart wanted to rise. I pushed it down as I looked around.
The powerhouses are gathering fast, with five Lv. 40 appearing around him; one of them is invisible, but I could sense his presence. Jon is already locked on to him.
“You have just saved us a lot of trouble, General,” he spoke finally, his voice graceful and cultured.
He was a noble before he turned into the lich.
I didn’t reply.
Instead, I triggered the elder-blood within me. Immediately, it activated, transforming me into a half-giant within moments. It filled me with a power that I desperately wanted to use.
The other enemies of the region are just enemies, but these undead are my mortal enemies.
They have taken everything from me.
For years, it was the thoughts of revenge against them that had kept me going. Revenge was the sole purpose of my life.
“The trouble.” I laughed as I finished; hate couldn’t help but leak into my voice. “Indeed, we are here to relieve you from that.”
“Attack!”
I ordered, a storm of energy circulating inside me as aura merged into it and I visualized the form.
As it finished, I swung my halberd forward. Immediately, Crescent Rend shot out.
A massive bronze crescent arc of concentrated elder power.
Now that I had gained the required mastery of the aura, I had gained a completely new arsenal of methods. Elders, the giants, use aura differently than people do.
They use methods and use the form to merge the aura into it. Creating a very powerful attack.
The moment I did, the powerhouses moved.
Jon, Miss Merro, Paladin Magleth, and Baroness went to meet the enemies while Colonel Uram, Colonel Banse, Lt. Colonel Halewright, and other mid- and late Lv. 30s went to clash against the others.
Only the archbishop stayed by me.
Her job would be area control and support; her divine magic is suited for it, not to mention her powerful healing skills.
The necromancer had brought out the massive bone shield, and I laughed before leaping forward with the bronze comet.
The arc clashed against the spell, which was infused with the power of aura. It only lasted for a moment before it split into two, and the arc continued toward the ship.
The necromancer appeared in the air as my arc tore through the ship, splitting it in two.
As it did, massive flaming bone lances shot toward me.
I didn’t move to dodge. I leaped with Bronze Spring. The burning lances appeared in front of me, and I swung my halberd with Sundering Mountain.
It clashed against the lances, distorting everything, without losing momentum.
There was now barely five meters of distance between us when a massive bolt of dark lightning appeared in front of me. I moved my halberd and crushed it.
There was nothing that would stop me from killing this lich!
…
Lich Davenor
“Your little attacks won’t stop me, Lich!” roared the half-giant as his Halberd cut through the Severing Lightning without losing momentum.
He is coming at me fast, less than five meters away from us, which is nothing given his size.
He reached me instantly, but found me gone.
I appeared over a hundred meters away; this is an ability of my staff. They offered me a better artifact, but I declined. Its spell amplification may be average, but it has an enviable instant teleportation ability.
I am a Great Mage; I could cast short-distance teleportation, but teleportation spells are difficult; they take time, but with this staff, it is instant.
As I appeared, I instantly cast one of my most powerful spells. Graveblast.
Elder-bloods are difficult enemies; all Elder-bloods are, but this one is hungry for my blood. He hates me; I could see it clearly in his eyes. He wants to kill me.
A moment later, the massive blast of concentrated death energy is thrown by me at a blinding speed.
He immediately swings his halberd, sending the bronze arc toward the blast. It is bigger and thicker than the earlier one.
It clashed against the blast, tearing through it until it was destroyed within the attack.
Bastard!
It's why I fucking hate elders and their spawns. I have fought an elder once, and I never felt so powerless. Their spawns share their power, the power that is as lethal as spells or even more so.
Even with aura, a normal warrior wouldn’t have made me feel so powerless.
I have defeated the ones at late Lv. 40’s. I killed one who was at the edge of the Great Chasm.
Still, he should not have been this powerful.
Less than two years ago, he could barely survive against Knight Liorian, and now he is as powerful as him.
I launched another Graveblast, teleported away, and began casting another spell.
‘Davenor, what the hell are you doing? Help us deal with this bitch!’ A call for help came from Ror, who was fighting against the spell blade with Arisse.
‘These bastards are fucking powerful!’ said Tan, who was fighting against the gladiator.
To my utter shock, they are suppressing my people. The only one who seems to have the edge is Mardan, who was fighting a half-elf paladin.
That paladin is not even at Lv. 40, but is powerful and also being enhanced by that archbishop.
She is supporting him and others, enhancing their strength, healing them. Once I deal with this Giantblood, she is going to be the first I kill.
‘Handle it until I deal with this Giantblood!’ I said and quit the messages. I didn’t block them, just made them very quiet. So I could focus on the Giantblood.
Once I dealt with him, dealing with others would be much easier.
There is another reason, the real reason, I want to kill him. His body. If I merge his essence into the body I am occupying, it will enhance my strength even further.
I pushed those thoughts and focused on my spell.
He appeared close to me, barely five meters away, when I finally launched the attack. I would have launched it earlier, but I wanted to be sure that it would hit him.
Wailing Thorn.
A large, translucent purple thorn appeared in front of me. It disappeared a moment later, reappeared directly in front of the giant's head, and pierced inside.
This is my most powerful soul attack; a single attack is enough to kill a Lv. 40, but this was an elderblood.
I was about to launch another to finish him when I saw his whole body blazing up, brightly for a moment, clouding everything in its shine, before it disappeared.
I looked at Giant-blood; he looked fine. I could not sense even the slightest harm to him.
“I expected more!” he taunted, before shooting toward me, even faster than before.
…
General Trask
“Weapons drawn! Hold your ground, and hew down anything that comes within reach!” I thundered.
The endless tide came like never before, within minutes. They have built a ramp of their bodies.
We destroyed their spells and cannons; we burned them with holy fire and oil, but they kept coming until they formed a massive ramp, and now they are on us.
I looked into the distance one last time, where I could see flashes of multi-coloured light, but bronze outshone them all.
More than color, it's waves of energy that are coming; they are sending a shudder through me.
I know General Stone is very powerful, but I did not know he was powerful enough to go against Lich Davenor, a century-old lich, head-on.
I stared at it a moment longer before turning to the enemies. Now even more motivated to finish them than before. I have to wipe away the shame of the assassin incident.
“Kill them!”
I ordered, activating my skill, Defend The Wall.
Immediately, my men moved and began hacking them, while officers remained on watch over the pillars and powerhouses.
We are ready for them.
The only people who left for that operation were the Archbishop and four of her men. Aside from that, everyone is present, including the majority of the church’s force and our Lv. 30’s.
All the people the General had brought from the operation had come from Greltheaven and Panar.
A minute passed, then another, before undead pillars and powerhouses finally appeared. First came the spells, before they came at us physically.
My officers moved forward to meet them.
The undead are making a mistake here.
They shouldn’t have sent their forces to capture the city after we burned their ships.
They should have focused on dealing with the people who attacked them. Once they finished with that, it wouldn’t have been very difficult for them to take the city.
Suddenly, my Dangersense spiked, and I felt a shudder run through me.
I let the power of my spear fill me and swung it, activating Barreling Swing.
It immediately clashed against the rogue’s short sword, which became visible. The upper half of his face was covered, and he grinned; at that moment, my danger sense screamed again.
I saw another attack coming toward me from the tall, armored orc and leaped out of the way, striking back.
It’s not a normal attack, but an aura one.
Fractals formed, and a blade appeared, to the shock of the rogue, and shot toward him, making him leap back, while I activated Swift Spear and moved toward the coming attack, covering it with another blade.
My spear clashed against his long blade, sending him back a step, but I didn’t get to relax as another rogue attacked me again.
As I moved to defend against it, I felt the hair all over my body stand up and saw a massive lance of dark energy coming toward me very fast.
The necromancer!
It must be the one that is controlling the horde.
I could not defend against it; the assassin is attacking me. If I moved to defend, the assassin would get me. If I somehow survive that, then the warrior would finish me.
My aura method set has a defensive method, but I have been slow in learning it compared to others.
I can only comprehend the offensive method.
Hope stirred within me at the sight of Fenleigh approaching, growing stronger with every step, until a rogue's sudden attack shattered it as swiftly as it had risen.
Hun!
I wondered what to do when a glittering viridian pulse came into view and clashed with the burning lance, destroying it.
I didn’t have to know where it came from; the color was enough.
‘Thank you, my lady,’ I said.
‘Deal with the two, General. I will handle the necromancer.’ I felt ashamed hearing that; that battlefield is my responsibility, but with these two, my hands are full.
The necromancer is the most dangerous.
It will be difficult for her to fight it, even with her bodyguards, but she is the only one who could. There is no one other than her who is strong enough to fight the necromancer.
