Wooo, one of my favorite movies ever! Got lots of trivia for those interested: - The movie is based off the novel of the same name, written by Michael Crichton, a very well known author known for taking what was at the time cutting edge ideas about science and technology and writing sci-fi books about them. The books leans a lot more into horror, something the director of the movie, Stephen Spielberg - Jurassic Park was one of the first big blockbuster movies to integrate CGI (computer generated graphics) with live action. Up until this point, most large budget movies were still using physicals effects, such as miniatures, animatronics, and stop motion. When Stephen Spielberg was shown the prototype for the computer generated dinosaurs, he loved it, while Phil Tippett, the head special effects remarked that people like him, who used practical effects, were going to go extinct. This remark was reused in the movie, when Malcom takes a jab at Grant that archeologists would be 'out of a job' now that dinosaurs were real. -Despite the use of CGI, there were plenty of moments that used real puppets and animatronics were used for the dinosaurs. This created some unforeseen issues. When the T-rex escapes, a massive animatronic T-rex was used for some of the scenes. However, because the animatronic would absorb the rain into its skin, which was made of latex, the T-rex would malfunction and break down, forcing the film crew to try to sponge all the water out of the animatronic between takes. There is also a rumor that when the T-rex pushes its snout through the sunroof of the Jeep, the panel of the glass coming loose was an accident and that the child actors were terrified as the animatronic head almost crashed into them. Not hard to imagine when what is essentially a giant robot T-rex suddenly malfunctions. -The velociraptors were a mix of CGI, animatronics, and in certain scenes like the kitchen scene, actors in suits. One of my favorite little mistakes in filming is that as the Velociraptor first opens the door to the kitchen, you can see one of the film crew members hand reached out from behind the doorframe to push down on the velociraptors tail to lift it up. Its a blink and you miss it moment, but it was always amusing to me.

This movie gave me nightmares for years when I watched it as a kid lol glad to hear you loved it though!

I think Jurassic Park was what really got me into dinosaurs. Now imagine my surprise that the latest science tells me the dinosaurs did not look like as they do in the movie. Then again, I should've been aware of that when Mr. DNA said they filled the gaps using DNA from other animals. 😂

Jurassic Park, it's been ages since I've seen it. Still brings a tear to my eyes watching it. This movie definitely got me into dinosaurs. I hope you don't have nightmares. You picked the best background for the movie! I adore the raptors in this movie, next to the star of the show the T-rex.

One of those rare movies imo that still holds up extraordinary well, truly a classic movie!

Funny reaction hahaha, and yep actual birds are a branch of the dinosaur family and several of them were even wearing feathers (as the raptors and its relatives mainly), and the scientists have even discover some tracks of the colours (from black feathers to bright colorful red as example), and the word Jurassic is one of the 3 era dinosaurs lived in (they appeared in Trias, diversified and got their golden age in Jurassic and finally Cretaceous which was "the end" of them, of course I'm summerizing), and finally the Velociraptor in JP are in fact not really velociraptor (if I'm not wrong they are based on Deinonychus but the name was too complex and for the size they are closer to Utahraptor), as the true velociraptor wasn't above 2feet4 tall and around 44lb, and had feathers (but in that time it wasn't discovered yet I think)

haha hope you don't get any nightmares Sprinkle 😅 such a fantastic movie i love it, and the soundtrack is so iconic! the T-Rex is my favorite dinosaur, so big and scary i loved watching it as a kid "maybe I'm a bit messed up 😂" some of the CGI is pretty dated but the animatronic puppets still look amazing 😁

There’s a cartoony slipping sound effect when Neddry slipped away from his jeep. It’s a bit hard to hear, but if you listen closely you can make it out.

Just as others have said, the dinosaurs in this movie aren't completely accurate, but are still decent depictions particularly for the time it was made. Our understanding and hypotheses about dinosaurs is always being updated with new information. The T-Rex, when originally discovered, was depicted standing more upright with its tail dragging on the ground, yet here it is more horizontal with the tail supported and giving balance. The author and director did a lot of research to get many things right and then used artistic liberty in some places for better effect. The intelligence and tactics by the raptors, the T-Rex "movement-based" vision, and the frills and venom of the dilophosaurus are completely made up. The application of bird-like qualities, in some dinosaurs, is something that is supported in reality. Thanks to the way the dinosaurs are made in the movie, it can be assumed that the genes they used to fill in the missing "gaps" of the DNA is the reason for the new traits (either by accident or the scientists did it on purpose.)

It's quickly mentioned, but in addition to genetically ensuring that all the dinos are female, they added a gene to all of them that made it so they can't produce lysine in their bodies. Without lysine the dinos would eventually die on their own. This makes it so that the dinos need humans to give them lysine in their diet and any dinos that got loose into the wild could not survive. Also, you didn't linger on it long so I don't know if you fully convinced yourself, but when Nedry called Hammond "dad", he was being sarcastic and it was a joke about how Hammond at that moment was acting like a father who was putting his foot down on a matter that a child would be asking about.

I love this movie but there is one thing i wish they hadn't changed from the books. (Jurassic Park is based on the books by the same name.) I wish they didn't make Dr. Grant and Dr Sattler have romantic tension. In the books, Dr Grant is the professor and Ellie Sattler is his student who is much younger than him. Dr Grant had a wife but unfortunately she passed away. And Dr Grant was satisfied having only loved once. No need for romance. And i thought that mentality was beautiful, to remember his wife and never move on.

I can’t watch this?… Just get an error.. “403 Forbidden”… 😅
