It's insane to see everything come together like this. Regulus here makes fun of Petelguse not being able to do anything before or after he was turned into an Archbishop, giving the idea to Subaru on how to remove the heart with his power proving Regulus wrong, but also Subaru not calling it by the name he gave it, Invisible Providence, but instead Unseen Hand to honour Petelguse and what he gave him and that his power saved Emilia. All tying together Petelguse's story with Emilia and Subaru, before and after he became the Archbishop. Emilia recognizing Petelguse because of the ability was also super beautiful and sad. Seeing Reinhard come back from the freaking moon is such an insane feat. Regulus getting the beatdown he deserved though, all the hits Emilia did for all the wives and the end he got was all so satisfying to see. I don't think there's been a villain in anime I wanted to see die more than him, or at least I can't think of someone else. I'm willing to believe that all the Archbishops were probably actually decent people before they got the power, just like Petelguse was. It's probably the power that corrupted and made them this way. Regulus remembering Emilia was to show that he wanted to have Fortuna as his 79th wife, instead of Emilia as he says that the spot was supposed to belong to someone else. Also the comment Al made probably was because Al thinks that he might lose the fight against Lust. She does seem very much immortal but so did Regulus, so who knows.

I have a bad feeling about Regulus. Unless its shown later or talked about in some other material, I don't think he's gone. Sure he drowned, but there are lots of people who have drowned but still live. He is definitely rescuable in the state and location he is in, and comes down mostly to how long our heroes stuck around. But now! Finally I can ask something I've wanted too for a while. Which of the Arch bishops is the most dangerous to the world and which is strongest amongst themselves? It's a harder thought experiment then it sounds.

Re:Zero’s writing is really something else. With how much of a scumbag Regulus was, seeing his defeat was so satisfying, but his final moments were so humiliating and gruesome that I can’t help, but still pity him. But maybe that’s just me, I can’t blame anyone if they don’t feel this way. I believe the novel expanded a bit more on his backstory and he wasn’t exactly normal even before the witch factor. He had a huge inferiority complex and deluded himself to believe that everyone around him was pitying and belittling him, but it’s difficult to say how his life would turn out if he didn’t become an archbishop. It must have corrupted him, like it did with Betelgeuse. Many years spent with his incredible power also lead to his self-centered, entitled personality getting much more unbearable. If I remember correctly, after he got his Authority and kidnapped his first wife, who was his childhood friend, he tried to make her love him, but she went into total apathy after he killed everyone she knew. Only after she passed away and finally smiled while on her deathbed, he started collecting hundreds of wives and threatening them into becoming these emotionless dolls to fill the void left behind by the first one. That backstory makes him even more pathetic, which is how he was intended to be perceived by the viewers. He was a delusional, greedy man child and he died still believing he was the victim. And that death was, in my opinion, the worst character death so far, excluding Subaru. Shattering every bone in his body while being buried underground and then having to choose between heart failure from his own power and slowly drowning. Both Emilia and Subaru were amazing this episode. You can really see all their development from season 2. Reinhard coming back from the moon for the finale was hilarious, but I was somewhat disappointed, cause I was hoping Subaru would actually fight him 1v1. Now, even without his wives, Regulus still had a great power. The problem is, he never learned to use it properly, since he didn’t have to. He could always keep it activated since he had his little kingdom. So the moment he lost that, he was basically screwed. Not to mention, if he didn’t bring his wives to Priestella in the first place, he would have been basically unbeatable. That’s what happens when you give a delusional person an incredible power - massive overconfidence and complete lack of critical thinking. Wow. That was a long rant. Sorry and thank you! (I wasn’t planning to quote Sirius there, I swear.)

Bruh, Regulus’ insides were made into a hummus after that crash. And he might have had a heart attack from his authority instead of drowning, it wasn’t clear. Sirius is much more likely to have survived.

Naw, he did the invincibility thing just before landing, so he's got that part covered. Don't get me wrong, I hope he's dead. But I seen enough enough shows and read enough ongoing series to know that's not guaranteed.

DecoMorreno

Wdym bro. Yes, he did use Lion Heart there, but then turned it off after a few seconds, because his heart would fail. He was literally all twisted and mangled in there. Also, i get you, but I don't think Re:Zero is like that. When they make an impactful death, that death is final. And, for me a least, the imagery here was pretty definitive. But I guess we'll see. If Subaru gets a new ability in season 4, we'll have a confirmation that he's dead.

thank you for sharing Regulus backstory now I hate him even more lol. he is just the worst he made me so mad seriously thinking that he is the victim until the end it was so frustrating to watch😡 RIP his first wife 😭
