I’m so happy you finally watched it! Gonna watch this later, but I just know it’s gonna make me cry. I really don’t cry at movies, but for some reason this one always gets me 😭 I loved it as a kid, but up until last year I hadn’t watched it in like 15+ years. And it was better than I remembered! An absolute classic.

It’s exactly as the movie says you are who you choose to be a “weapon” can also be used to protect

I totally understand what you are saying! I didn't expect the movie to make me cry but it did!!! I loved it so much 🥹💖 I hope you have plenty of fun watching it with me 🥰

SprinkleVerse

I'm so happy you reacted to this! This movie is one of my favorites from my childhood. I tear up every time when the giant looks up at the missile, then down at all the people, and just says: "I fix." It's so cute and sad and beautiful all at that same time! And when he repeats what Hogarth said to him when they first met!!! 😭😭😭

So 1957 is WW2... Todays history lesson by Sprinkle. Time to update our books I guess... :D

The movie doesn't take place during WW2, but the Cold War. A period of time where the USA and Russia were locked in an endless power struggle after the invention of the atom bomb. Everyone believed that any day one side or the other would attack and they would have to retaliate. Mansley was a piece of shit, but I can at least understand his mindset. He looked very professional, but really was incredibly paranoid about any potential threat. But in the end he was revealed to just be a coward who didn't really care about his country. Also, fun fact about Mansley. His first name is Kent. It's funny because Superman's name he got on Earth as a baby and was his human identity, was Clark Kent.

Adding onto that, the cartoon they showed to the kids was pretty close to actual "educational" cartoons made during the cold war (Duck And Cover (1951) Bert The Turtle). To be clear these videos were propaganda and would do diddly squat in the event of an actual nuclear attack, thus the reason the movie made fun of them.

Gosh this must be the extended edition; I don't remember some scenes. Unless I watched the tv version a lot more? It's a possibility, damn I get teary eye every time I see this movie. I don't want to see Iron Giant 2 or some kinda remake. It's just perfect the way it is.

My favorite animated film ever, so glad to see you like it. No matter how many times I've watched this, that "SUUPERMAAN" at the end still manages to hit me in the feels.
