This movie was such a big part of my childhood! I lost count of how many times I've watched it so it was super fun getting to see your reaction to it! I actually forgot how beautiful the painted backgrounds were in this. I mean I still love 3d animation but there's something so special about hand drawn/hand painted 2d animation, it's got so much personality.

Funny post release edit at 22:38, they've changed the dryer to be some cabinet with a pizza box because I guess it wouldn't look good to have a kid hiding the the dryer. Subtitles: Hinges creak - didn't know a cardboard pizza box had metal hinges. You can see the dryer in an earlier scene when Nani and Bubbles enter the house.

So fun fact Gantu is canonically 20 feet tall or 6 meters and for reference Goliath (from the Bible) was 13 feet or 3.962 meters and the tallest human being who lived was 8 feet 11.1 inches or 2.72 meters tall so yeah um Gantu is enormous 😂

Nonononono, there are no more movies! Abort, abort! Especially the 2025 version, or the live action... They are really don't exist!

SO much had to be changed from the original. My favorite is that instead of the beach crowd running from Stitch after he freaks out from the camera flashes, Lilo instead deals with obnoxious tourists looking down on her ("Hey kid, you speak English? Where's the beach?" "Oh look, a REAL native Hawaiian!"), so she pranks them with a scheduled siren test by proclaiming to the whole beach that a giant tsunami is incoming, making everyone flee except Bubbles, who she tells "If you lived here, you'd understand." The house battle with Jumba had more plasma shots with his gun, the little throwing star of combs & toothpaste was actually tiny axes & sawblades, the chainsaw chased Lilo around a little bit, & Stitch ripped the oven from the wall so he could stream gas in the kitchen & use that to blow up the entire house. Then there's the fact that Jumba & Pleakly didn't have their own giant ship; the first version had them - I'm not making this up - use the motorcycle to zoom up a runway & hijack a 747 airliner so they could chase after Gantu (shark guy) through the city, narrowly avoiding crashing into buildings. Needless to say, after the U.S. dealt with 9/11, Disney had to change those plans FAST, leaning into the fantastical kind of fighting rather than anything that was a bit too real & actually dangerous.
