2026-09-29 14:00 Hey there. I'm sure you have a long list of anime to check out, but having just finished the series I just HAVE to recommend Angel Beats. It's a more laid back and funny anime than what you've covered so far, but it does have it's serious moments. It has a lot of value for your kind of breakdowns. I don't want to say anything specific, but you'd get a lot out of it.

I'm only catching up with your watchthrough now so sorry if this is insanely delayed, but rewatching the scene with the hero's sword (for probably like the 40th time by now counting all the reaction series I've watched for this show lmao), I had the thought that maybe the scene of Himmel failing to pull the sword might actually be a turning point for Frieren even more than is obvious at first glance. Maybe this is the moment where she was so inspired by him that she resolved to make sure the Demon King was defeated no matter what. Because it does seem like in a lot of clips of her with the hero's party she is only along for the journey out of a sense of almost obligation. I don't know if there's any actual evidence for this, but I feel very strongly that my intuition is picking up on something. Maybe it's her expression in that scene that is genuine surprise at the way Himmel reacted. For someone as jaded by life as Frieren was at that point, I feel like whatever she was feeling must have been significant to draw out such an uncharacteristic display of emotion. She also says "it must have been done by people who wanted to make Himmel a hero" in regards to the story, but who would that have been? The people of the village seem to have some kind of deal with Frieren that she will come and protect the village instead of them hiring adventurers. Why is that? So that nobody discovers the hero's sword wasn't really pulled. *She* wanted that story to spread, and set up the deal with the village to ensure the truth wouldn't be discovered. I think Frieren is the one who wanted to make Himmel a hero. And I think she decided on that even before he was gone. I think she resolved to make that her purpose in life when she had no other anymore.

so, i joined the patreon mostly because of the unedited videos that were promised, however both the audio and video are heavily edited, especially the audio makes it hard to watch. is there a way to watch the unedited versions?
