My main takeaways from the episode

1) How did the writer think to pair human Maomao with kitten Maomao to kickstart the second season?! Absolutely brilliant and unexpected writing

2) The kitten Maomao represents a curious, free spirit without any social constraints, while our Maomao represents the curious, free spirit, limited by her social positioning and political constraints

3) Our dear love-boy Jinshi is falling hard for that kitten, and I loved seeing how projection and displacement were portrayed toward the end

Also, what a cliffhanger to end the first episode!! Who are the two new suspected concubines?! Looking forward to the 4D chess match between Jinshi (and Emperor) and Shishou in the season.
