Hello, Patreon family! Please enjoy my detailed analysis of the Apothecary Diaries Season 2, Episode 6. We are fully back with back-to-back psychological thrillers, mysteries, and Maomao the detective!

My main takeaways from the episode

1) The amount of clues that are hidden in plain sight in the show is overwhelming and beyond impressive; I don't think any amount of caffeine will allow me to catch 'em all

2) Envy is considered one of the original sins for a reason; psychologically and clinically, envy (or jealousy) truly kills and will erode relationships over time if not addressed properly

3) Lady Lihuawas was already one of my favorite upper first-rank cocubines, with her maternal love and calmness, and the episode made me like her even more; what a thoughtful person, who is kind, but not always "nice."

Happy weekend, everyone~

The crystal pavilion is definitely the place to go when you need someone put in their place. Anyone who hears a slap that shakes the foundation of the rear palace knows where it's coming from. Lol

Can't win against the "girls".

It never occurred to me that Lihua was also protecting her extended family in that moment, nice catch! And like you said Apothecary Diaries is definitely a series you go through repeated times. I've definitely gone through the novels a few times. (And looking forward to the 16th volumes release on the 29th)

You can trust that if we go to the crystal pavilion, someone is getting slapped. I completely agree that this is a show that is great to rewatch. You really appreciate the set up so much more. Envy and resentment... emotions that can and have toppled nations.

Huh... for some reason I got s notification about episode 7 but now there is no post

Shin is the one who threw Maomao's warning about the face powder away. She wanted the baby to die, and she probably told the other ladies in waiting to keep putting the poisonous face powder on her.

This episode definitely made me love Lihua even more. I love how the show portrayed her as a grieving mother acting out of her usual self at the beggining of the anime, shading her in a more negative light, but now we get to see how she blooms as the beautiful flower that conquered the emperor's heart! She's such a composed consort, definitely deserves her place as such.
