Hello, Patreon family! Please enjoy my detailed analysis of the Apothecary Diaries Season 2, Episode 14. I did not expect to see our dear frog prince, Jinshi, put his foot down and display a glimpse of his wrath and power as the "manager" of the rear palace, not for the sake of his own ego, but to advocate for the weak.

My main takeaways from the episode

1) Being kind is not to be mistaken with being a pushover; our moon prince Jinshi is the perfect demonstration of this truth that so many people often forget

2) I love seeing Lady Gyokuyu with her popcorn moment, as I am also watching her watching JinMao happening in real life, what a popcorn-ception 🍿

3) The significance of Jinshi finally saying Maomao's name to Lady Gyokyu, with everyone being present, cannot be understated; a massive moment and breakthrough for Jinshi, and the series, with its plot thickening

As everyone has been saying in the comments, the show continues to hit every single week!! Like, how is this possible?!

Lishu the Long-Suffering Cinnamon Roll suffers again, but at least a major thorn in her side has been knocked down a peg.

I feel like this show was also a way of showing the growth for Lady Lishu that as much as she is "the little girl" of the palace of the head concubines that are there, it is showing with Maomao's influence her new lady-in-waiting is fighting more for Lady Lishu than the former head lady in waiting ever did. It's show that even if Maomao spends a little time with people (and can be said for any of us), if we show kindness and try to educate those who want to listen the world can be better than we left it. It's also huge strides for Jinshi aka the Moon Prince to be like hey this is my Maomao that I want returned to me, since this is the 1st time in 38 Episodes that he has actually said her name. There is a couple of scenes that when you go back and rewatch after you are finished with Season 2 that will be even more meaningful than they were the 1st time you watch. I know I repeat myself over and over in my yap after your yap that you are not prepare for what is to come and I mean that is the best way possible because there needs to be a deep dive on the author with an interview just with them and psychoanalyze them because what they are doing is perfection.

I might not be a professional yapper but much like Maomao I do always enjoy having conversations about situations and things that I enjoy. For Maomao it's Medicine, for me it's Apothecary Diaries, Arcane/League of Legends, Disney, & Star Wars lol.

I think the sisters look the same... to Mao Mao. My personal minor theory is that while she isnt even close to Lakans level. That she does have, to connect her at least thematically if its not some genetic thing, a problem telling similar faces apart

Well yeah. But its all from her perspective. My theory is that to other characters they look a little more different. But to maomao they look the exact same.

In the book Maomao admits in one of her internal monologues that she has problems remembering faces/keep them apart. I think she said that during the scene of the last episode when she was in the same room with the sisters. The anime did not include it.

i love lishu 💕 she’s suffered so much at such a young age so seeing jinshi correct the lady in waiting was so satisfying also speaking of the iconic slaps there’s a parallel between jinshi and maomao jinshi said women sure can be scary after maomao’s iconic slap, maomao noted jinshi was scary here

also i will note that maomao is our (unreliable) narrator so everything we see is through her lenses we already know she struggles with emotions and it’s hinted (and stated in the novel) that she’s somewhat bad with faces (hence why she struggles with the three sisters) so when you pointed out that jinshi looks more handsome/manly it’s how maomao perceives him (perhaps due to her recent discovery and her growing closeness) we’ve come so far from her thinking he was the emperors side piece lol

I've always found it interesting how different they decided to make the relationship between the concubines and there lady's in waiting Gyokuyō and Ah-Duo are very similar , both having extremely loyal and competent lady's in waiting, especially there head lady in waiting. Ah-Duo's lady's in waiting going as far as to take the life of others as well as there own for her sake On the other hand Lishu and Lihua are also similiar in that they both have Lady's in waiting that are bad at their job however the way they are treated in almost complete opposites. All of Lihua's lady's seam to respect and like here , except for her head lady who hates her but is also respected by the other lady's in waiting. In contrast all of Lishu's lady's seam to hate her , expect for her new head lady who likes her but is also hated by the other lady's in waiting.

Greetings & Blessings, I learned from some titles on YouTube Videos that there was a few Eunuchs that were allowed to be married ( Disclaimer I do not remember watching said videos ), I think a man married with some children and then turned eunuch would be a bit different then being turned and then being allowed to married would be separate issues ( separate et parallel )
