Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy my detailed psychological analysis of Zombie Stage's round 1, following my full reaction to Alien Stage about a week ago. I started with "oh my Clemantis" to "let me choose more pain" because folks said Zombie Stage is even darker than Alien Stage, and here we are.

If you are new here, welcome. I am a professional yapper and overthinker. As a first-time watcher, my mission is to dissect the same beloved anime in a digestible yet deeper format. I unpack underlying psychological concepts, hidden symbolism, and character emotions.

My main takeaways from round 1:

1) The series reframes the saying "no rest for the wicked" to "No rest for the oppressed, the underprivileged, and the hustling," in K-pop, end-stage capitalism, or otherwise

2) I understand the invisible sacrifice of chasing after one's dream, especially in acting and music, living in the infinitely cutthroat city of Hollywood, the graveyard where most dreams come to die; at the same time, we must ask, "at what cost?"

3) Who are we, and what will happen to our sense of self if our self-worth is entirely predicated on what we do and the validation that we receive as a result?

I am looking forward to finishing the Zombie Stage series as they release more rounds.

If you resonated with my in-depth commentary style, I hope you check out the free full-length preview before we resume the Apothecary Diaries season 3 episode 1 next week on 10/14~

Some notable series while you are here: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Rascal Does Not Dream, The Apothecary Diaries, Eighty-Six (86), Mob Psycho 100, and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

Hope you enjoy your stay :)

Hi. I’m a new Patreon member (though I did post without introduction once or twice.) I’ve been trying to fill in with your older series analyses. You’ve done so many of the series I love! I’m putting this here because I don’t know if you’ll see comments from series you’ve done more than a year ago. Lol. I’m absolutely loving your analysis of Death Note. Another series that I’d love to see you bring your forensic psychology skills to is “Monster” ( Not to be confused with “RE: Monster” which is totally different). I’d also love to hear your analysis of the personalities in “Classroom of the Elite.” I find the characters very interesting. If you need a palette cleanser with something funny, “Kagura-sama: Love is War” is lighthearted, over-the-top series about high schoolers and power relationships in romance.

Hi, Maran! Yes, I remember your other comment :) lots of folks recommended Monster from DN series, and Classroom of the Elite was mentioned a lot as well, so hopefully we’ll add it to the poll after we go through the scheduled content!

If you want to get more into the lore, I highly recommend checking out the extra content! A lot of people only watch the main MVs, but the comics, character articles, and interviews reveal so much more about the characters and their relationships. For example, they explore relationships that weren't fully covered in the main story, like Ivan and Mizi's friendship or Sua's relationship with her toxic older sister. There are also two fairly long comics focused on Mizi that reveal much more about the toxic side of her relationship with Sua. The extra content also gives us a better understanding of the Resistance (who are all those people appearing alongside Hyuna in the MVs?), their goals, and their plans. And if you're curious about what happened after Alien Stage, the comics reveal a lot more about the characters' lives afterward, although most of this content focuses on Till and his trauma. There are also sub songs for each character — two per character, or three in Hyuna's case! They're not just great songs; they also reveal more about the characters' inner worlds, including their real thoughts and feelings that we don't always get to see in the main MVs. If you want to explore everything in order, you can search for the Alien Stage Content Guide or the Google Doc on the Alien Stage subreddit called “So You Want to Get Into Alien Stage.”
