Wouldn't it be great writing though if they broke the expectations of all of these stories and Khem actually successfully respected the Master's journey and got together with Pong? And the Master was able to maintain his integrity and commitments and not sacrifice the people of the village? Imagine how great it would be to break the cycle of harm and toxicity and that is what breaks the curse?

I think if you’re up to date you might think a little differently. I think it’s mentioned in this episode but in general, The masters character actually longs for love and to be loved.

Oh, it's very clear. That is also a core message within the opening of this episode. But, both can be resolved. I know it won't go that way because this is a BL, but it is possible for Khem to actually grow and mature and know that selfishness should not be the starting point of every choice. Now, maybe he learns these lessons and then still ends up with Peem. And, somehow, they explain away the vows with some power-of-love hand waving. I'm fact, this is what I would expect. This is really what separate shows that get a 9 from those that deserve a 10. It will be fine, but just once, I'd like to see a show that actually respects values and is brave enough to tell that story instead.

Ooh you know what I wouldn’t have minded seeing though. A time skip where they both needed to complete something or grow before they get together so Khem would feel less reliant on Peem.
