Kivon Rahim

Been waiting like a year for this

Kivon Rahim

Pac most definitely has lyrics that's spooky hearing it in hindsight

It’s funny that you mentioned you’re seeing influence and connecting dots after just a couple pac songs. The deeper you dive into 80s and 90s hip hop and r&b, the more you’ll realize that a lot of more modern music is constantly making direct references that just went over your head

Brenda T.

I understand the importance of it but I haaaaaate BGAB and it was being played everywhere when I was growing up. Tupac was such a truth-teller and that voice! Definitely gone too damn soon 😡

JayDubb1977

There's no way to separate from what you already know happened. But listening to Hail Mary when it originally dropped 2 MONTHS after he died was an eerie time💯

JayDubb1977

I bet you do hate it 😅

Tupac was inspired to write BGAB after he read a news article about a baby being found in a trash chute. Years later an autobiographer wrote about this in a book about Tupacs life. A young man reached out to him and said hey I read your book and I think I’m the baby. They got in contact and did some digging and he was indeed the baby that was found. They went on a search and tracked down “Brenda”. Turns out she was looking for him also. They were able to meet in person. All because of Tupac writing the song BGAB.

Tupac is always the rapper I turn to for the importance of voice and charisma in hip hop. He couldn't rhyme like Nas, he wasn't as smooth as Biggie, but when he raps you have to listen, he's just so magnetic on the microphone. Temptations and So Many Tears are my favorite Pac songs; they're on Me Against the World (which Dear Mama is on) and is his best project in my opinion, as it blends his hitmaking, his later more "gangsta" sound, and some of his earlier political/conscious rap.

Jadon David

Ok thats actually my first time listening to Brendas got a baby and yup I'm balling my eyes out

Kelsey

Girl you have no idea how much of Tupac's influenece/lyrics/ideas are throughout literally every single song on TPAB. Not just the interview at the end. I highly recommend listening to the Dissect podcast on TPAB. Its quite long but there is so, so much depth to TPAB and the way he left hints that it was Pac he was talking to throughout to end with the interview is just amazing.

Kelsey

Its been so long since I watched the tpab reaction so you might have known this, but the original title was To Pimp A Caterpillar which would be shortened to TPAC or 2pac

James Edwards

I didn't understand this comment until I read your name. lol holy shit.

Now that I think of it I wonder if Kendrick took the bell influence from Hail Mary for Euphoria track especially since it makes sense after Drake did A.I Pac in Taylor Made. Just a small Easter egg given the bells are ringing throughout Euphoria

David Grace

Make sure you check out "Keep ya head," I recited that song for my English honors class years ago. It's one of my favorite Pac songs deep and meaningful and the videos for these songs that you covered plus that one will emerge you in that time capsule of the 90s Pac was in.

Stefan

I think it's funny how you almost feel uncomfortable referencing Kendrick while, ever since this channel started, every artist has been compared to Taylor. But in seriousness, I think those comparisons are exactly why Pac was so requested. As you'd no longer look at Kendrick in isolation. Whether it's certain lyrics, or that passing of the torch or why working with Dre and Aftermath all were a big deal etc. Or pretty much the entirity of TPAB. And ofc, that's just looking at Dot's album. It's a shame reactors tend to not get nearly the same amount of views for older stuff. But I'd love some deep dives in the 90's.

Kevin Lauture

PAC has influenced so many artists, we hear it in KDots music, in Cole’s music, Eminem, DMX, Lil Wayne and so on

Kevin Lauture

Ambitionz of a ridah will forever get me hyped 🔥🔥🔥

Tyrone Ross

Omgggg been waiting for J Cole but this is just as good can't wait!!!

Tyrone Ross

I don't think there is much to say after Brendas got a baby. No double entendres or beat flips or wordplay. Just the raw reality and your emotion on your face as you listen.

Tyrone Ross

Damn I kind of want this before j Cole now lol. I don't want to spoil anything but Pac was aware he was going to die. He has like 10 songs where he literally talks about it, he mentions how he wants his funeral to be decorated

Tyrone Ross

Fun fact, Hail Mary was written in 30 minutes by Pac.

Lique Rhone

How y’all ain’t get changes up here

Z

Ahh man really wish you did “changes” as well. Such a powerful song that’s still so relevant and will unfortunately always be relevant.

Z

Pt 2 of this with “Keep your head up” and “Changes” 🙏🙏🙏

Freesscbkol

Man I would’ve loved to have seen Unconditional Love, Life Goes On, and Changes. Dear Mama always a classic though

klairvoyage

RIP Pac RIP Afeni Shakur RIP Assata Shakur

algorerhythm

Pac signed with Death Row Records in exchange for Suge Knight (the label's owner and co-founder with Dr. Dre) bailing him out of jail. Which not only made his music a lot more gangster-centric (Suge is affiliated with the Mob Piru from Compton), but ultimately also lead to his murder.

algorerhythm

Also Suge is pronounced like sugar without the -ar :)

Scotty

There is a debate about the best rapper of all time but greatest rapper of all time is, Tupac. His impact is too big just to label him a rapper.

Tyrone Ross

What about God bless the dead, when Pac opens with "rip to Biggie Smalls" like bro stop trolling us Pac lol

Aidan

Changes and California Love are a must for pt 2 plus all these songs are gut wrenching so California Love could be a good palate cleanser

Dwayne Pierce II

I love Pac more before he went to Deathrow when he wasn't angry. He never stopped speaking about real issues but if people talk about his life before Deathrow it's a good tale of being around the wrong crowd.

Dwayne Pierce II

Hail Mary came out after he died. I still remember hearing it as a kid when it first dropped. One crazy fact Pac recorded so much music that he has more albums that dropped after his death then he put out during his life. His interviews will really paint the picture of who he truly once. Gotta listen to him before he got shot, locked up for something he say he didn't do and became angry. The Deathrow days Pac was pissed at the world and felt betrayed by the black community.

LeBron's Burner

Oh man if you get into some Tupac interviews...
