Sleeping in Skyrim has always been a loading screen with extra steps.
In 2015, Guffel wrote SexLab Dangerous Nights 2 — the mod that made a bedroll a decision instead of a menu. It never left Skyrim LE, and it never will: the engine underneath it counted on things that don't exist anymore.
So this isn't a port. The engine was rewritten, and the parts of Guffel's design that were good — the way the attacker fits the place you're sleeping in — were kept and given a machine that actually delivers what the original promised.
Because the original didn't, quite. It rolled the dice once for the whole night, so "the longer you sleep, the more dangerous it gets" was never true. Sleep eight hours and the odds barely moved from the base. And it shipped a list of Safe Places, which meant that once you owned a house, the mod was over.
What this build does:
Every hour is its own roll. Sleep longer and the odds stack the way you always assumed they did. Where the first roll lands is when it happens — not automatically at dawn.
There is no safe list. Where you sleep changes the odds instead of switching danger off. Your own house cuts it hard, an inn cuts it less, outdoors raises it, followers nearby lower it, sleeping naked raises it. No bed in Skyrim ever reaches zero — the safest one still carries a fraction of a percent across a full night.
The mod prefers someone who is already there. A real NPC in the room or nearby beats a spawn every time. Only when there is genuinely nobody does it place someone who belongs where you are: bandits in a camp, draugr in a crypt, travellers on a road.
Attackers come from the game's own leveled lists. They scale with your level, and they inherit every body and texture replacer you run — instead of arriving as somebody else's 2015 NPC with a black face.
Your follower can be the one who turns on you. A mercenary you hired is far likelier to try than a companion who chose you, and a good relationship protects you.
Draugr and werewolves. Werewolves need creature animations, and the mod simply asks OStim whether the scene exists — if you don't have them, werewolves never come up, with nothing to configure and nothing to break.
The setup happens behind a black screen. Fade out, everything is placed, then the warning, then fade in on a scene that is already standing. No watching bodies slide into position.
It remembers who did it. Who, where, when, and how many times that particular one has come back for you.
That last one isn't a stat screen. It's a seed.
What's coming:
More creatures — spiders, chaurus, falmer, wolves. Draugr and werewolves are the two that were ready.
More of what tips the odds — being drunk, who you're travelling with, what you did that evening. The table is already there; each new one is a line, not surgery.
A "stand guard" order for followers, so protection is a choice you make rather than a number you happen to have.
Guffel's original cast, as an option for anyone who wants the faces the mod shipped with.
Deeper handoff to defeat mods — the follower going down already fires an event for them to take over.
The repeat offender. The one who keeps coming back is being written down for a reason. He is meant to have a name eventually, and to be somewhere you can go and find him.
If you run OStim Sexual Life, every one of these nights is already being written into your history without you doing anything.
Requirements
Skyrim SE / AE
SKSE64
OStim Standalone (NG)
PapyrusUtil
SkyUI + MCM Helper
Optional: OCreatures, only if you want werewolves. Without it they're skipped automatically and nothing breaks.
Work-in-progress notes
This is a test build and nothing has been played through yet. Use a save you don't mind losing.
Turn on Show the odds when you sleep in the MCM's Debug section — it prints the calculated chance for wherever you're standing, and it's the fastest way to tell me that a place reads wrong. What helps most in a report: where you slept, for how many hours, who was with you, what you expected, what you got.
Known limits in this build: only draugr and werewolves among creatures; no stand-guard order; the follower knock-down is vanilla bleedout and hasn't been tested against every defeat mod out there.
Credits: Guffel, for SexLab Dangerous Nights 2 — the design of who shows up where is his, and it was worth rebuilding a decade later.
Thank you for making the time to build things like this exist.
18+. Some nights the door holds. Not every night.
