Hey everyone, I've been working on the cover nearly as much as on the edits of book one, and I have something to show.

There are two directions I'm leaning in right now, both with the same background. I'd love to hear what you guys think!Just FYI - the words "Irwin's Journey" are something I still haven't decided on where and how to place them. Just respond with teal or fire! :) Also, if you don't feel strongly and like them or dislike them both, I'd love to hear that to.Teal! Fire!

I like the red but maybe it makes sense to save that for when he has his hammer and body transformation.

Steven Thompsen

I agree with Theodore but I don't think his stance makes sense in the cover. Looks like he's experimenting with chemicals now than smithing. But everything else looks great. And Fire!!!

JoG

I like the red just cause I can see the design better

Wurschtelpotz

Red means heat. Is there any heat involved? As Steven said, the stance looks like he's pouring some liquid. In the story to me it always sounded like the cardsmiths used full power. The lord even used his giant transformation for the heartcard, certainly not to be subtle?

Fire Without wanting to sound like some know-it-all, Patreon should allow for the creation of actual polls, due date and all. Might safe you some time compared to manually rifling through the comments.

Red one is a must

For sure the fire one, but maybe incorporate his first card somehow since its how everything started for him and the reason for his salvation and why he had all those issues with the dungeons. Mabye a skinny version of him holding his first card with a spark of fire in his eyes for the first book cover. Or a spark on his finger tip with wonder in his eyes.

At first, I was at the Red camp but... the more I think about it, the blue is better. The reason that I preferred the red one is because, I read the story and it makes so much more sense to be all about fire, considering current Irwin skillset, but this cover must be made with new readers in mind, people without the context of the story, and the blue one seems to give a better impression of magic.

No. It doesn't look anything like how I imagine Irwin's Journey to look, Not only because he looks too old for book 1 or because it doesn't look like smithing but because book one is set in the different shard worlds not a smithy even then putting Irwin on the cover will work but I prefer the card. Now these are just my feelings on the matter but the first book is about his first card, the second his Smithing, and the third the Shattering. you see where I'm going with this it's just not what the stories are about of course you could do it you could probably get away with it but it doesn't help tell your story.

Wurschtelpotz

There are plenty of online sites one can use to create a poll

Wurschtelpotz

With the title "cardsmith" the picture should probably show something related to smithing though.

Wurschtelpotz

Also, there is no fire used for the cardsmithing. Or is there? Turns out I don't really now right now, looks like I did not pay all that much attention to such details. The effect of the cards is not to be confused with the smithing process.

yunus emre gokal

teal but the background of the text should be changed

Flusspferd

Yeah, of course there are. But who is going to jump to some random poll site from here? Especially if you can just create it in patreon itself? What I was trying to say is: instead of asking people to comment there preferred cover, just makea poll with red and teal.

Red, but the anvil should be Am'braz, that doesn't look like what I pictured. Where is his hammer? And what is his left hand doing? Is he flexing and forging at the same time? If you are going to do something with the left, have it wreathed in flame perhaps, so not just showing the forging, but the use of his primary skill...
