The Dad Crew sits down to talk through the latest episode of season three! They bust out their newly-named Pick of the Week segment and get into the chaos element that Beth brought to the flashback, anticipation for the upcoming "Punished Tony" arc, and what inspired Will to give Francis a sniper rifle.

Plus, they take some questions and they talk about everyone's first car, emergency piss situations, everyone's favorite TV intros, and Beth's ultimate dine and dash story.

You're practically cousins

Halophyte

I want to see Trudy Trout and Izumi Curtis predator high five over being housewives that Wreck Shit

Caleb

Could we get an MBIC or peach pit addendum where get to the bottom of Matt's robot/sentience dichotomy? I'd love to understand his point of view on this.

Ace Hutson

“I was in the Mojave, which is a desert if you don’t know.” Bro we’ve all played NV

Amatiramisu

Just gotta get this out there, Bojack horseman changing up the opening animation every season was also tight

withinmyself

Peacemaker's dance intro!!! Best intro ever. Also the intro for Kids in the Hall just because the song is so nostalgic.

withinmyself

Also the 20 minute delay before the opening credits in the first season of The OA. She starts telling her Russian backstory and then you see Netflix presents . . Still gives me chills and I knew this was going to be one of my favorite shows.

Jared Hadley

So excited to see where the story takes these characters! Hopefully more good times and close calls 😍

Myorp

Gotta love a sick music video style anime intro like Hands Off Eizouken or Mob Psycho 100. My least favorites gotta be a plot summary/spoilers I'm trying to watch the show here man don't have the (not yet) reformed villain fist bumping the protagonist or whatever lol

jawnyBlank

The love dynamic between Freddy’s (sorry I’m listening to s2 and s3 same time getting chars mixed up) parents one of my favorite moments

Jason Todd

First I agree with Matt-anti robot, theology / philosophy. As far as does the robot have a soul if brain, then humanculas rules. She can be the OG Trudi and have a soul or fraction of a soul, thus sentient. Can the fraction be so low that I don't cry? Yes. Judaic-christan theology wise she might be more pure/holy then us[sentient life], if her flesh is without sin.

Bret Schulte

I love when they make changes to opening credits to reflect the show. Like Buffy including someone you think will be a main character, only to kill them off. Or Enterprise redoing its entire opening as the Mirror Universe version.

Whachamacallit

"Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter!"

Daisy Terry

Matt doing the theme for pick of the week (?) despite not knowing it was adorable 😭

Matthew Cagle

One of my favorite TV opening credits was for Weeds were the started having different artist do covers of the "Little Boxes" theme song in different musical genres. Just the contrast of styles but the song staying the same about the conformity of the suburbs.

Shelby Holder

Man I was listening to you guys on the way home and when I got to the part where you guys were talking about peeing yourselves in your cars really made me have to pee. Thank the gods that I was almost home 😂😂😂

Schuyler

There NEEDS to be a Debate Me Coward! on the topic of robots

Alex

Hey now, the Daredevil opening absolutely slaps. I will not tolerate Anthony’s slander.

Jordan Lienhart

So in Kitty Corner Kirby is like that friend that calls to say they'll be late but goes to Starbucks? Haha great show

Natalie Rose

Been so excited for this Peach Pit because I NEEDED to know what the cast felt about the chaos in this episode…

Jensen D

The quantum leap intro always makes me wanna sit on the floor in front of the tv like I’m a kid watching reruns again

Emeryth

House of the Dragon’s credits change as the season goes!

Namedafterabook

You guys are gonna love the new deadpool

Tish.Tosh

Bonus episode request: The full fictional AI/Robot personhood debate

Astrid

Why's Freddie in Alaska? That's where I am from❤️😊

PuppyCrusher

I think the intro for Peacemaker is also a too tier intro. I also really like the X-men 97 intro; I think it changes every week to reflect the episode. And that music is iconic to me. I agree with Matt on his out look on robots. I feel represented.

Travis Ventress

Wait did they censor what Freddie's first car was?

HeavyMetalJesus

What are Matt’s thoughts on Iron Giant

Rob Wes

I cackled at “don’t cum in my brother”

Lula Hiigel

That’d be perfect for a revival of Debate Me, Coward

Lula Hiigel

If the crew does another video game live stream, it should be Matt playing “SOMA” with commentary.

Lula Hiigel

Favorite show intro would have to be Bojack Horseman. The music absolutely slaps, the visuals are a perfect vibe, and every season brings with it new Easter eggs and in-jokes to find.

Arthur Williams

OG Toni is my only want. I wanna see Commando Toni!

Wordlovesculpt

This was great 😂😂😂 Also, I hope Anthony is ok!

Creekie05

Did Matt say that who’s on first is a three person sketch?

Creekie05

Also is Tony aka Dakota Johnson

The Overthinker

Instantly recognized the the pacific rim music.

Kyle Oldham

Never actually commented, but I have to say this. I was thinking, "I really liked Daredevil's intro," and then Anthony dunked on it 2 seconds later 😔. I also love the Sopranos, Succession, and Better Call Saul because it's brief.

Toasty

Beth with the first recorded Dump n Dash?

Brain in a slightly larger than average jar

As somebody who drove semi trucks in my 20’s I would just like to say that there are very few blind spots in the mirrors other than directly behind. Matt is not the first person to have that idea of using a truck for privacy and I can attest that you are blocked from everybody except the truck driver.

Nyki Pastuszka

What the *bleep* on Freddy's car for?

RayneCloud_Creations

As the number one Tony fan this episode was a real treat for me,

Jessica Estep

Sons of Anarchy and Weeds will always be one of my favorite show intros.

Madison Suoja

What about the Bob's Burgers intro! ✨

Creekie05

It’s okay to like things that others dont

Kingzley Sparkman

I know it's a cartoon technically but I love the Steven Universe theme song and when they updated in the following season my whole family was hype.

Creekie05

The simpsons intro is a fav of mine

Emily L

All of the pissboy stuff makes so much sense.

TheNewMilkMan

FREDDY how can you not mention Jujutsu Kaisen season 2's intro

Lewis H

I'm a huge fan of the original Law and Order into.

Maddie

One of my favorite intros is outlander. I love the different covers of the theme song every season that match the tone/setting of the season. And you get a little detail shot of the episode with the title at the end.

Jakob Medlin

Now I’m excited to see how long Tony can survive with 0 Luck

Brandi

Black Sails has a top tier intro too

Scrufy the janitor

And not even a mention of the best saga sell of all time with ATLA absolutely iconic intro

the slunch

need y’all to talk about Evil more, that show fucking rips i’m so sad to see it go

Alice Mac

as a person from Scotland, I couldn't hate Outlander and its intro more 😅

sean Urban

Wait, Trudy got the book from Moth Jesus... but Beth said that Trudy can't read... 🤣

Schyler

anthony laughed like seth rogan a few times in this one

Juanjomeister

Speaking of intros first that came to mind was gravity falls especially near the finale!

logan jilek

The intros for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia go so hard with the episode title card, footage of the city, and the music

Kyna

beth is so real for sharing her pee story i respect the vulnerability

BörkBörk

The Simpsons and their couch. Now that's an intro

Jaded Reading

I personally love newish Doctor Who intros, Peter Capaldi especially had some really good change ups

Priya

It's 3 a.m. in a warehouse

FriesischeKuh

Ya’ll didn’t even mention the Entourage intro..

Teagan Turner

I’m a big fan of how simple The Magicians intro is

Aretha Tanklin

The image of a kid pounding on the locked door of a McDonald’s begging “For the love of God Montressor!!” got me yelled at by my boss for uncontrollable giggling

Laurel and John

Freddy I knew what you meant at the end. I'm with you.

StratoSpell05

guys. this is a podcast about pee now

Sofia B

So glad Toni survived, he's my favourite

Smeg Larssen

your unconscionable erasure of the twin peaks intro will not be easily forgotten

Levana Starkey

Has Beth listened to Epic the Musical yet?? If not she absolutely needs to and make everyone else listen to it like I love to do

Anna

Soul Eater intro SLAPS

Nik

Deadpool and wolverine owe you guys frickin royalties that was wild

Harry French

Anthony sure gets weird about robots.

Johnny Udall

I never knew Freddie's family had a beeeep 😉

Ross Jordan

Season 2 and the DCEU have one thing in common, constant references to piss 😂

Jaime Timesamillion

Freddie how did you keep it a secret that your daughter was in Deadpool & Wolverine

Don Kyo
>>144752310

What is this in reference to?! Seeing the movie this weekend, is it a spoiler?

slimeman98

30 Rock has one of the best intros of all time and I stand by that

Bryan Steele

Love the intro for "Invincible" that becomes gradually more blood spattered each episode.

Hailey English

Matt needs to play Detroit Become Human, and Talos Principle. Lol!

Everett Gaspar

That thing about anime intros being peak is so true. You could pick out some of the actual worst anime ever and 9 times out of 10 the intro will still be awesome somehow.

hal

matt is 100% right about robots i'm glad he's using his platform to take a stand on this

Bob McCoog

Yeah he did. I'm still trying to figure out who was in it aside from Abbott and Costello lol

Killin it Kat

Will saying we can't have this conversation again 😂😂😂😂😂 I would love to have a hot take with everyone about this topic

Kevin kasch

Talking about intros in invincible is my vote

Lauren

Why did they censor Freddie’s family car 😭

ShannyKrik

Hahaha i guess that was his banking password recovery question

Lauren

Yeah lowkey I thought it would be a funnier reason but I was surprised in the moment

Freya Hogarth

Matt’s Robophobia in full swing in this episode.

Luna Luna

So was I. That’s why I went to the comments

Pedro Machado Figueira

I usually listen to these while I'm at the gym and I nearly injuried for laughing during Beth's desert story. Way to go, guys.

Caz Flip Smith

well this was a great episode of Debate Me Coward

mari

the she ra intro will always be peak for changing to reflect the story in s5 (s5 catra fans you know what i mean)

KayTissleeping

I love that Freddy knows exactly what Matt means when they're talking about Matt thoughts on robots.

DanDeLion

Piss boys are back

John Ring

I think that the Talos Principle (1 and 2) actually make you accept that AI are conscious as a premise of the setting, as opposed to arguing for its validity. I've just recently been writing about these games, so I'll share some thoughts: Your character in the Talos Principle is an AI, and you're seeing through it's eyes with your human consciousness as a real person playing a video game. But in order to have any narrative buy-in and immersion in the world, you have to suspend your disbelief that the AI character you are playing as is itself conscious as well; you recast "your consciousness as a player" as "the AI's consciousness as a character." This is just a part of the process of buying in to the world of the story. But the game then goes forward to advance the argument that a sufficiently complex AI would be conscious in real life, as if it were a forgone conclusion, and from there to conclude that materialist metaphysics is true. All on the basis of something you had to accept *without argument* at the beginning, just as part of suspending your disbelief to get invested in the story and characters. It's actually pretty sneaky! To popcorn off of Matt: It's like making Finding Nemo and having the audience suspend their disbelief in talking fish in order to become invested in the story, but then the message of the story starts to imply to the audience conclusions such as "fish talk, and therefore have human intelligence, and therefore should have the rights of human citizens," with the seriousness of points meant to be taken as real-life philosophical positions, as opposed to thinks only being argued for in-fiction.

John Ring

Agree with Matt about robot stuff honestly. "If AI can trick me into believing that it's a person, then it's a person" is the same take "a cave-drawing of an ox evokes the idea of an ox, therefore it's a real ox."

Pyro

I was repeating himym over and over waiting for someone to say it during the intro portion 😂

Pyro

One of the best

Olivia Nirider

I feel seen an a whole new way. #whatsyourpeestory #peetrauma As for intros... Game of Thrones anyone? Or is that CG bullshit? Also Fringe. I love the way it changes for the 2 realities and who's POV is being followed. They have my favorite dramatic specialty intros. The throwback 60s one is especially good.

Seth Kay

This episode was hilarious, but Tony absolutely should have died lol. That was such a letdown for me - it's Cthulhu! People die! It just makes me feel like they're gonna pull all their punches and not let characters face death.

Bearonavirus

"What would [Francis] do with a gun?" Shoot up the school. That's what he would do

Bearonavirus

Like two episodes ago Matt compared Trudy to a microwave He's going back and forth and now I'm confused

Friendly Neighborhood Michael Guy

These guys are 100% of the reason I watched Buffy and angel and let me tell you, it changed my standards for television

Smithers

I need a bop for an intro! Matlock?? Addams Family? Jamie Foxx Show? Golden Girls, and freakin Living Single! Also Danny Phantom and Law & Order are gonna slap every time.

Tony Loch

If you haven’t figured it out yet, you type them into the discord section and hope it’s upvoted to be answered.

Skye the Bi

Matt peeing in the car is so much funnier when you remember he takes off ALL of his clothes when he uses the bathroom.

Justin Weber

When Beth talks about the dinosaur rest stop on the way to palm springs, i felt such a sense of random joy because I make the trip pretty often and I know exactly what station shes talking about! Like damn, I've been to a specific location of a celebrity 😂

King Humble

Here's a freebie for bathroom necessities on the road... Just go to a midsize or larger hotel. Walk in like you belong and just go. The concierge will look to you to see if you need something. They don't care. The bathrooms are SO much cleaner than any restaurant on the road. free bonus tip. Its the same with their breakfast. Just don't be a menace and no one cares.

The Craig

I just needed to point out, IRON GIANT! His death wasn't sad because of the kid. It was sad because the iron giant was its own special character.

Matthew VanZandt

Just took the Buzz Feed dog test, I also got a Corgi… and I am also a little disappointed with that. I wanted Lab or English Bulldog

a

When I was a kid we were on hour 10 of an 11 hour drive and I had let myself fill with piss. I asked to stop somewhere but since it was late night in a small town everything was closed, except for one hole in the wall bar for hip young singles full on mingling. So my mom, bless her heart, went to the door and negotiated on my behalf to let me use their "customers-only" bathroom while gesturing over to my strained little face and jittering posture. After a few exchanges the bouncer seemed to relent. My mom beckoned me over and I took off like Usain bolt in a shrimpy white child's body. Except the bouncer had not opened the glass door yet, and I hadnt gotten glasses yet. I ran headfirst into the door, bounced off it, and landed on my back with a bloody nose and tears in my eyes, as I promptly pissed my pants.

Sea Hag

Oh man I love Blake Lively but original Tony Collette would have been so funny to see
