beth always manages to articulate things about gender socialization that i’ve FELT but never been able to explain. she’s so correct about sadness being rewarded in girls. for me, growing up, it was almost romanticized. sadness was a part of the feminine allure. it was mystery. it was also empathy. anger was rude, but sadness was a sign of sensitivity, and of resignation. anger is, as she said, “active.” sadness is just still. and they don’t really want us to go anywhere. i think girls tend to have big rebellious and angry phases in their teen/young adult years because they’re unlearning that and experiencing emotions they were discouraged from feeling for so long. i’m rambling about needlessly serious stuff in the comments of this silly podcast but idk, thank u for saying that beth ily

I know other people have said this, but I could not tell a difference in the quality of shows before and during the pandemic. I am sure it was just as hard as you all said it was to record the sessions over Zoom, but I think it speaks to the talent of the team that you consistently kept putting out quality content.
