The episode, in retrospect, where it all happened - an episode unwittingly chock full of memorable, podcast-defining moments. Also, some analysis about dad huddles and pace, and any out-of-character moments, which leads to some more thoughts about Season 2.

Spoiler Alert! Do NOT listen to these until you've finished Season 1! Because we're recorded these much later, we talk about (and potentially spoil) events that happen throughout the entire first season.

Will, you have certainly delivered on your comments about the "wants" and "needs" of a character regarding season 2. You have taken the "I want to be loved by all" (being a Mascot) and shown that truly he "needs" to be loved by one. (his father.)

Jordanasaurus Lamb

Saying Hennry wants to be better than his father and for everything to be okay was nice. Cause everything is going to be O.A.K

2026-09-06 03:00 Oof I feel what Matt had to say on being the big person. As a 6’5 man, I’m super conscious of how others see/perceive me and am aware of my energy and voice around others so they can be safe.

The best fucking episode, so many good and inspiring points made, so many laughs and twilight at the end. Absolutely lovely

Roxane Dery

I really wish we had those : like, hate, want for the season 2 characters too !

Caleb Crawford

I honestly always found the Dad huddle kind of charming, personally.

Isabella

My favorite episode of Talking Dads so far!! Hearing everyone talk about their characters at the end was BRILLIANT!!!!!!

As the self-proclaimed #1 Glenn/Morgan shipper, shout out to Beth for the emotional damage. (No, we don't know anything about them but they're important to me.)

corundum liqueur

Obliterated by the I like/I don’t like/more than anything I hate

Ivy Smith

We have a very tall large person that comes to my work named abel. He looks huge especially next to my 5'4 self. I was shocked the first 9 times I heard him talk. He is so soft spoken, it's hard to hear him over the din of the store and our generic music. Im small and loud and realized my loudness was startling to our gentle giant. It became my mission to make sure the restaurant was a safe space for him. He is a regular now and comes in at least 5 times a week.

i was so curious what beth’s answer to the i like, i hate, more than anything i want question would be for ron. it did not disappoint. everyone’s answers were so good

My brother told me about this episode and that is why I started to listen. Laughed so hard during this episode.

Insight: an advantage of having teenage protagonists is there will be no "huddle-bogging" because of poor impulse control, roflmao. It's really good news that combat worked in this ep, where the dad-huddle was minimized. I'm not anti-huddle, just think that getting to the point of having a functional huddle will be a goal for season 2 PCs (later a means to goals) rather than a means from the beginning, as it was for season 1 PCs.

The Dad Huddle will be replaced with the Group Text. They’ll just describe the gifs that they’re sending to one another.

ps: you all are doing awesome and I'm glad that you've decided to keep playing together.

Cactus Pear

That IS an opportunity. It could be equal parts helpful and distracting but there's no way it wouldn't be interesting!

Kat

Ahh I loved hearing the likes/hates/wants of the characters!! They all hit so hard! Also very helpful as a writer hearing all that character info distilled down in a few sentences!

Ryan

Well thanks Beth now I wanna go watch tw twilight movies again.

King TikiTiki

I’m so glad they’re going back and redoing these. So much nostalgia

Lis Telep

I, too, forgot how absolutely unhinged those movies were 😂

Ryan

Haha me too! The vision scene in breaking dawn pt 2 messed me up.

Jake Weiner

One of the best character discussions I have ever heard, definitely gonna think definitely with me dnd characters

SugarFreeGum

As of this comment I have listened to every episode, talking dad. And the other videos you can watch for 5$. I started listening literally november and I was hooked from the start. After getting through all the episodes I decided I needed to hear what you all had to say about them and got patreon. That was barely a few weeks ago

Sonja Repetti

Anyone else been tempted into a relisten by these talking dad ep releases? :D

Jenica

Those like/hate/wants were all so powerful! Beautiful and brutal, five stars.

Phripheoniks

Beth really put the last year into words for me with "wanting the only voice in my head to be my own". Gonna quickly go and buy a certain book now, dayum

A small request, nearly all episodes named in the following format. Ep. ## - [episode name] When searching for episodes to download they are easy to find, yet some like these are slightly different Ep ##. - [episode name] Could this be edited for easier relistening purposes.

TEschaton

Best dad huddled was definitely the one where Darryl says to Ron real dads only.

FOONOMI

Character creation: I like I hate I want. Thank you so much for this tip
