Previous Chapter

A beam of crimson miasma struck the falling Forbidden Keep.

The bloody ray was stronger and more intense than anything the Malevolence’s cannons could produce. It set the heavens alight, briefly pushing back the otherworldly darkness summoned by Simon’s Edict of Endless Night, and struck the floating islands falling upon Helel’s base. The blast caused the manaliths to detonate prematurely, causing massive explosions to rock the clouds above.

The Forbidden Keep itself was split into many parts, but Simon still sensed his Dungeon core inside one of the largest pieces. He drew upon the armies of minions he had branded for this very occasion across the battlefield, draining them of their mana to ensure he could cast his second Edict of the day.

“The fires of my wrath shall burn even the sun!” he chanted, weaving the threads of reality into a tapestry of flames. “Let Hell’s inferno rise from the depths of the Abyss to incinerate my enemies, until my own life is extinguished–”

The attack came as anticipated as the words formed on his lips. Mental attacks traveled through his branded minions from multiple directions in an attempt to overwhelm his spirit and destroy it. It was a good plan, as befitting of the Commander… but one couldn’t kill Simon the same way twice.

Mind and Soul damage reflected by Remedia’s Contingency!

Magic woven into his being by the Queen of Cocagne herself triggered at once, sending the attack straight back at its senders. Simon sensed the death wails of the spellcasters and angels who had dared strike him through the connection, which let him complete his Edict of Wounded Earth with a smirk on his lips.

His magic set the Forbidden Keep’s debris ablaze.

The pieces turned into meteors coated in molten lava and followed by plumes of searing wind. They struck Serras’ floating ruins with the power of an airship fleet’s bombardment at their back, shattering watchtowers in searing blazes, breaking apart floating streets, and knocking dragons out of the sky. The fireworks were like a balm on Simon’s soul, as was the flow of experience coursing through his veins.

Chaos and destruction followed. His airships and warbeasts opened fire on dragons and angels coming to intercept them, the clash of spells and weapons echoing so far and wide he could hear them all the way from the Malevolence’s deck.

So many forces were fighting today that Simon struggled to keep track of them all. He saw Louis raining down swords and spears from his Armory to skewer angels with, dragons bringing down airships, and flashes of Remedia’s spells and Dassein’s lightning. His horizon was an endless tapestry of explosions, destruction, and chaos.

“One minute before we are ready to fire again!” his lead engineer said.

“No, focus the miasma on the shield,” Euphemia ordered. “They will target us first.”

She was right, of course. It would make sense for Helel to fire at them with her light of destruction, especially since she should be able to sense the miasma crystals inside the Malevolence. Taking out the Overlord’s flagship would cause a tremendous blow to the army’s morale.

But that is fine, Simon thought as a thick shield of mana powered by four Zodiac Fiend crystals surrounded the Malevolence. The more the enemy focuses on the sword in their face, the more blind they’ll be to the blade pointed at their back—

The horizon brightened, and a shooting star surged across the battlefield.

Anaximander had told Simon that teleportation alone was the only thing capable of outspeeding light, and that only those with the highest Perception stat in the world could truly follow its movements, but he didn’t truly understand the truth of that statement until now. Simon’s eyes could follow the wind and the fastest arrows, even the movement of lightning, but light? Light crossed miles faster than a man could take a step.

So he couldn’t see Helel’s arrival until she smashed into the Malevolence.

She pulverized the miasma shield and shattered it to pieces, then obliterated the reinforced window separating the command deck from the world outside. The almighty winds blew into the room, throwing some people overboard and forcing the others to grab the airship’s consoles.

However, the impact was a mere prelude to her overwhelming, suffocating presence. She shone so brightly that Simon’s armor heated up with faint miasma smoke, while Lorimor shrieked in pain. He felt an overwhelming urge to submit and crawl to his knees, to worship and fall in silent adoration, but those were mere whispers crashing helplessly on the shield of his unbroken pride.

You have entered Anna-Helel’s Domain. Mind-affecting effects will pierce through resistance, and Crown of Control will constantly target everyone.

Crown of Control negated by Indomitable Crown.

Everyone else present was far less fortunate.

Crowns of thorny crystals grew on their heads and attempted to pierce their way into their skulls, triggering countless Contingency spells, automated amulets, and other such countermeasures. Nearly everyone on the deck disappeared one after the other, teleported to safety before Helel’s power could mentally overwhelm them. Odette, Lorimor, and the entire crew vanished.

Euphemia alone was spared thanks to some contractual shenanigans, but even she looked unsettled by the sheer power radiating from their attacker as she remained behind.

Still, the Law she had applied to the Malevolence triggered at the Maiden’s use of Light-aligned magic. Swords of power appeared out of nowhere to strike the invader, only to shatter harmlessly against her naked skin.

“It is the height of arrogance to believe your Laws would apply to your goddess, Euphemia. You have truly lost your way.” Her voice sounded so much like Anna's, but deeper and full of cold condescension. “I see you changed your marriage contract so that the effect would transfer to your deranged husband and protect you. Almost clever.”

Simon dared look up at the greatest of the Zodiac Fiends.

All of her siblings had been monstrous horrors even when merged with hosts, but Helel… Helel was beautiful. Anna’s features had been sharpened and refined. Her honeyed hair had become like a fountain of flowing gold. Six feathered wings of solid light grew out of her sleeveless white dress’ back, while two smaller ones framed her fair face. She went barefoot, but golden bracelets adorned her wrists and ankles. Purple tattoos representing flowery thorns stretched from her left cheek all the way to her arm. Her white, diamond-like crystal was embedded in her chest right above her heart and pulsated with otherworldly power.

“What’s wrong, Simon?” she asked him with a faint smile. “Has my radiance left you speechless?”

She still retained so much of her host. Same face, same pleasant smirk full of mischief, but her eyes… her reddish eyes were utterly devoid of Anna’s warmth and humanity. They looked down on Simon as if he were the dirt under her foot, a worm that should feel grateful she even bothered to give him a speck of her attention. This was no arrogance propped up by insecurity like Thalas, but a complete disregard born of unshakable confidence and godlike power.

Anna-Helel believed with all of her heart that Simon Magnos, Fourth Overlord of Endymion, was no threat to her.

And she might very well be right. The pressure she exuded trumped even Nodens at his strongest. The very air had grown heavier than molten lead, and Simon’s instincts screamed at him to run or surrender rather than hold his ground.

Yet he resolved to show no fear as he rose from his metal throne. “I admit I didn’t expect you to show up here,” Simon said as he locked eyes with the Maiden. He had to buy some more time. “I feared I would have to tear through your entire army to reach you.”

“Why would I hide from people who cannot threaten me in any way?” An–Helel sounded genuinely curious. “It was impish of you to darken my light, Simon, but if you wanted to earn my attention, you just have to pray to me. Unlike you, I answer those who call for my help.”

“I’m sorry I couldn’t teleport to your side when you called, Anna.” Simon scowled in bitterness. “This… is all my fault.”

“It is not,” Euphemia said at his side, her warhammer materializing in her hands.

“She is right. Everything that happens, and will ever happen, is the result of my providence.” Helel put her hands behind her back, looking almost like the picture of innocence. “I am the dawn and the twilight, the Light of the universe that shines the way forward. Today’s events happened because I decided that they would.”

Simon barely stifled a dry laugh.

Helel’s smile immediately faded away. “You deny my truth?”

“I deny nothing. You are no mistress of fate, or even a goddess.” If so, then her escape would have been inevitable throughout the reigns. She only stood before Simon because he messed up. “You are a cancer that grew in the shadow of my mistakes. You live in my world.”

“Simon, to deny my godhood is not proof of courage or bravery.” She narrowed her eyes to better look down on him. “It is a sign of mental illness.”

And she clearly believed every single word she said.

“There is something deeply wrong with you, Simon.” Her tone could almost pass for compassionate. “You are sick. You are possessed by a deranged deviant that clouds your judgment and blinds you to my divinity. You are as insane as that stubborn Paladin in your own sad way.”

It was at that moment that Simon realized the merger had gone differently than all others. While a sliver of Anna remained in the fusion, Helel’s personality had thoroughly dominated her.

“The same goes for you, Euphemia,” Helel said, even as the raging noise of battle grew closer. “I am your Light. I chose you to be my new prophet, and you served me well until you forgot yourself. Repent for your mistake, and return to me.”

Euphemia scowled, but doubt crept in. “It couldn’t have been you,” she said, her conviction slightly shaken. “Not at the start.”

“I was every vision you ever had, every voice you ever heard.” Helel’s voice briefly morphed into one Simon didn’t recognize, but which left Euphemia quite shaken. “It was I who inspired Pharis to raise my church, so that we could bring order and discipline to a world filled with chaos and confusion.”

“We’re ready, Your Majesty,” Shabram’s voice echoed in Simon’s mind.

Simon immediately sprang into action with Quickdraw.

He summoned Balefire from his Inventory and lunged at Helel without warning while she was distracted, his blade so fast it could catch falling lightning… and yet he proved too slow either way. Helel seemed to teleport out of the way of his sword with casual ease, while Euphemia was too shaken to strike.

“Accept your helplessness, Simon,” Helel said, nay, demanded. “My mercy only extends so far.”

“If we cannot threaten you…” Simon fired at her with Ectoplasmer. “Then why did you feel the need to dodge?”

Helel’s lips twisted into a scowl as she avoided his projectile. His words had indeed rattled her.

“My mortal self envied your freedom.” She closed the gap between them in a fraction of a second. “She thought it would make you happy.” Her hand grabbed his throat with a grip Thalas could only dream of. “She was wrong.”

Helel then slammed him through the deck.

She flew him through the entire length of the ship, using his body as a battering ram while smashing him through wall after wall. Countless damage notifications filled his vision as they broke past the engines, but the only pain he felt was of her fingers burning his throat with sacred power.

Supereffective demonslayer damage!

Physical contact worked both ways. After silently begging Anna for forgiveness, Simon activated his Crown of Pain and attempted to seal Helel into that hellish dimension. He immediately felt some kind of invisible wall preventing his sorcery from taking hold, and a smirk of absolute contempt stretched across the Maiden’s lips.

Crown of Pain couldn’t bypass Anna-Helel’s Shekhinah.

“All this power… it is a burden to you,” Helel said as they broke through the Malevolence’s back and emerged into wartorn skies. “You don’t know what to do with it, what you’re supposed to do. You thought this Class brought you freedom, but it only shackled you further.”

She moved her lips close to his helmet, as if to kiss him.

“I’m going to free you from the burden of choice, Simon,” she promised as the Malevolence began to lose altitude behind her. “I’m going to free you from yourself.”

He blasted her in the face with Hellfire Gaze.

No invisible wall protected her this time, the flames of his gaze striking her in her eyes. Though it failed to leave burns, it caused her enough pain to tighten her grip on his throat and choke him. This only encouraged Simon to increase the pressure and attempt to thrust Balefire through her chest.

Helel responded by throwing him across the sky as if he were a pebble. Simon barely managed to halt his momentum with Darkflight before he could hit one of his own airships and issued a telepathic order. “Now!”

The supreme lightning of victory which had once brought Simon to the brink of death fell upon Helel.

She failed to dodge this time, and Dassein’s Ragnarok struck her with such blinding power that the air turned electric. A torrent of lightning capable of blasting airships apart struck her from above in a blinding flash.

It did nothing.

The lightning simply flowed over Helel’s skin like water on a smooth rock, and Simon realized she hadn’t failed to dodge; she simply didn’t need to. Neither did she avoid the Nova spells, the sorcery barrage, draconic fireballs, and the swords that struck her from various directions. The projectiles shattered against her like waves on the eternal shore.

Noble Class users had surrounded her from all sides, protected from Helel’s Crown of Control by Judge-witnessed Vows granting them immunity to mind-control at the cost of becoming vulnerable to other ailments. Remedia and Norbelle flew under their own power, while Dassein rode his manticore and Casval carried Filip of Cocagne and Thalas in his claws. Shabram danced to empower Alcyone as the Phoenix ferried them on its back. Not since the conquest of Magvolia had so many Noble Class users gathered to fight a single opponent.

Helel looked at this army of heroes capable of bringing nations to their knees, and sneered in contempt.

“Merciless Angel,” she said, snapping her fingers.

Her Abyssal Domain rippled with power, and red feathers materialized over everyone’s head.

Simon barely had time to blink before the object fell upon him, striking not at his body, but his very soul. The feather vanished inside his flesh and weighed on his spirit and drained him of his vitality, blowing away his life like candlelight.

This attack didn’t inflict damage, not really, or else half of it would have been transferred to Euphemia. Simon instead felt his Vitality stat sharply dropping to the absolute minimum, a single point separating him from total organ shutdown.

Merciless Angel brought you to the verge of death!

The same effect struck everyone present. None died, but each of them seemed to be left devoid of their vitality, their skin sick and pallid. Even the Phoenix appeared winded. Simon himself immediately drained minions to heal, while various magical buffs kicked in to help his allies recover.

But Helel didn’t give them a chance.

Her wings flapped and unleashed beams of light in all directions. Alcyone alone reacted fast enough to teleport Shabram away, while Dassein’s manticore jerked to take the attack in place of its rider. Everyone else failed to move in time.

Casval, as the biggest target, was struck in the chest and died on the spot as their first casualty. He dropped Thalas and Filip, with the former leaping at Helel and the latter firing an arrow of darkness that bounced off the Maiden. Remedia and Norbelle were both struck, but their Contingency spells triggered to teleport them to safety. The Phoenix’s head was blown off, its body consumed by fire.

Simon himself took a beam to the chest, its power so vicious it melted his chest plate in spite of half the damage transferring to his lady wife.

Mythic damage! Supereffective demonslayer damage!

It’s not light, Simon realized to his horror. Everyone present had come with items and buffs protecting them from Light to a degree, but the Mythic element transcended such precautions. It was often considered divine and transcendental power, the element of raw magic itself. Not just light!

Thalas reached Helel and attempted to chop off her wings, only for his axe to shatter against them. The Maiden didn’t even flinch as she casually backhanded the Berserker so hard he was flung across the landscape to the ocean below, a mere afterthought.

“Mardok fielded twice that many ‘heroes’ the last time around, and they could barely hold their own,” Helel declared with sneering disdain, her gaze focusing entirely on Simon as she lazily pointed a finger at the falling Filip and blasted his head off with a beam. She didn’t even look at his corpse as it fell into the ocean below. “What made you think today would go any better?”

“The fact that I am here,” Simon replied with every bit of bravado he could muster as he summoned his dracozombie and followed through with a spell. “Putrefy.”

Helel vanished out of the way, then turned her attention to the Phoenix. While the eidolon had begun to regenerate from its fatal wound, the Maiden simply had to point a finger at it to dismiss it the same way Norbelle banished Carbuncle.

Dassein leaped off his dead manticore and lunged at Helel with his spear, but it too failed to leave a dent on her skin. She retaliated by slamming his chest with her palm, the blow cracking it and sending him flying across the sky.

The Berserker can bypass Physical resistance, but not immunity. Simon guessed that Helel’s Shekhinah ability blocked all forms of damage outside of specific conditions. At least I can punch through it somehow.

Norbelle and Dassein hadn’t left his Party, which meant they survived Helel’s attack and could come back for another round. Other reinforcements also arrived in the form of a mechanized Vouivre carrying Louis himself.

However, another figure arrived quicker after flying out of the Malevolence’s wreckage, carried by Judge wings and motherly fury.

“Euphemia.” Helel smiled arrogantly at her rebellious prophet and welcomed her with open arms. “Have you come to embrace me at last?”

“You may be right. Maybe it was you I heard all those years ago. It doesn’t make a difference to me.” Euphemia angrily raised her warhammer, which crackled with lightning. “I renounce you either way!”

She struck Helel in the chest, and drew blood.

A/N: thank you everyone for voting in the loop poll (over 2000 of you voted, which is a new record). I stopped it a bit early because I'll have to set some stuff up for the arc transition but don't worry, the options that lost will probably reappear in a future poll one day ;)

Otherwise, I've bitten that patreon bullet and combined profile before the forced merger. I tried to keep stuff hidden so it wouldn't disturb the feed but if things seem messy on your end, that might be the cause. Pray for RRtreon.

THE UNICORN OVERLORD 🦄 HAS PREVAILED!!! (In reference to the poll.) The OVERLORD shall now step into the light. So let all his enemies know-be it in the darkest corner or on the brightest daises- The Overlord will take them on any stage. Be it a dark comet or a false star, all will be crushed under his heel. Do not feel bad, my friends; the Vampire reign is not lost, but merely being put aside to better savour it at a later time. PS: Vampires are not nearly as cool as we imagine them. One of the lesser-known weaknesses of vampires is running water... ...which means they can't shower... so they are just decomposing undead corpses that smell. Yeah, much less sexy now, huh?

Kris Bruns

I think there might be something wrong with the second paragraph, it doesn't quite make sense

Void Herald

Yeah, I see the issue. Rewrote it a bit.

Hive Tyrant

Huh, she’s really full of herself! Simon’s gonna have to be level 200 before she considers him an equal.

George R

Super great chapter

InsertName099

This is making me really curious as to what secret Belzam knew that made him so unafraid of Helel... Also, that implication that a max level perception focused build has FTL reaction speed is very interesting and sets up the power ceiling quite well. Thanks for the chapter!

Aglovale Sempai

Why is the Maiden such a Mary Sue? Light-based attacks but better, somehow Somehow being even more beautiful instead of looking like ass like the rest of her siblings(sans Asterion, he's the best) Somehow is a caster but has better physical protection then tanker hero classes and her own other siblings Having that holier-then-thou attitute Like the Maiden feels like a character from a completely different series

Leo S.S.

Awesome chapter. Anna-Helel lived up to the hype. Lightspeed Helel is insane, and I got to love how much trash talk she does

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Firstly wtf did I just read how op is this bitch😭 Secondly can anyone figure out what the Shekhinah is/ whether or not it has a real life meaning? The key to doing damage to her def has smth to do with getting over her control but the actual terms for that seem vague at best so far

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Nvm I js searched it up : Foundational Jewish theological concept denoting the manifest, dwelling presence of God on Earth Shekhinah - Wikipedia.

bob

Just kill Anna . She has always been a burden. Actually detrimental and more useless than eole.

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Still dunno the exact terms to get past it tho. I doubt it’s as easy as renouncing her.

blib

Shekhinah refers to the Satanic inversion of the divine feminine in the Antinomian tradition of Sabbataen-Frankism. It was the title of Jacob Franks daughter-wife. Yes you read that correctly. Frank believed the ultimate sin would restore the shards of God in a perversion of Tikkum Olam. A philosophy designed by Nathan of Gaza during the apostasy of Tsevi. The Sabbataen-Frankists were monsters. They intentionally practiced incest to produce mamzers and violated every prohibition of the Halakha. This included human sacrifice and blood ritual. Gershom Scholem suffered tremendously for publishing this information. They survived into the modern day. Shoshana Strook was a victim and they killed her for going public. Google it if you think I'm just eating my tinfoil at this point.

Daniel Pataki

"She narrowed her head to better look down on him" is this supposed to be "narrowed her eyes", or did she look like a funhouse mirror version of herself afterwards?

Seldom

Once just once I’d like one of the super villains first emergence not be an absolute curb stomp when they’re revealed. This is dbz lol

Kyle

We could've had a Simon like THE DRACULA the lord of the night, and gow dare you besmirch the greatness of vampires with that tall tale, of course they shower. All unicorn overlord Simon will do is chase Alphonse's tail and begging him to join his little group. Also, unicorns are known to only choose the pure i.e virgins so most likely we won't be getting any romance, this also means that the 40% of you who voted for unicorn overlord are virgins 🤣🤣 Hopefully Simon gets to mess up the Oracle real bad.

blib

Finally, someone who isn't a simp for the worst girl and servant fucker. Why anyone likes her is beyond me.

blib

Read my comment above. I did an autistic breakdown for everyone.

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Caster with prob only one super op defense skill her shekinah. Prob still decently tanky after it since she could tank Hellfire Gaze point blank even if it is kinda a weaker attack.

Randoudo

Eole is quite useful recently, she helps to keep telluria in control, appease the sanctuary and is the path to get a crystal (two-tailed fish). Anna well.... probably.... but can be used to access the maiden later.

Ikra

You have no idea what Mary Sue is. Maiden is one of big villains, of course she's overpowered.

Bilbo

"Crown of Pain couldn’t bypass Anna-Helel’s Shekhinah." Oh no, the Maiden harnessed the power of international banking.

Jasus

The Maiden is definitely stronger than empowered Nodens. And she is not even fully powered up by the comet.

alejandrox

Thank you for the chapter!!!! Oh my god, this fight is epic and so difficult!!!

Xeophyn

I also wouldn't be surprised if she had somehow consumed/subsumed the light megalith. Maybe not made a class with it like Abraxas, but something similar. Or maybe she has the inverse of the commander effect. Something along the lines of gaining the defensive abilities of everything under her control.

iloverugs

Just to be clear, this isn’t her full power yet right? She’s this strong without the comet?

Randoudo

Well that's a salty answer 😂

Resolution’oSingularities

Will there be another poll after unicorn reign or are we guaranteed to go into the lost gods reign right after?

EquivocalTides

Probably something to do with the divine power

Jasus

She is the most powerfull Zodiac fiend, which have been set up to be the endbosses of the reigns. They are meant to be overpowered.

Randoudo

Nodens at his best was a level 80 noble in power lol, 85 if we are kind. After reading about Helel it's no wonder he became part of her cult, he is just that weak.

RedZingyHedgehog

Best guess to bypass the immunity is to see yourself as above Helel and not beholden to her control

alejandrox

Yes, she's the strongest of all the zodiacs along with Asterion. The comet didn't power her up; she's naturally stronger than the powered-up version of Nodens.

Greenstar Player

We only unlock Lost Gods in Unicorns. There will be another poll to decide the reign after the Unicorn at the end of Unicorn unless Void says otherwise

alejandrox

We will have a new poll as always, simply by choosing the white unicorn reign, we have unlocked LOST GODS REIGN to vote for it in the future as well.

Alibhai

She's absolutely dog walking everyone. So why is it that Simon and Euphemia are able to hurt her? Does it have something to do with lack of faith in the light? If it was just Simon I would have assumed it had something to do with him being linked to the abyss so intimately. I feel like there is a correct combination of hacks that can be used to take her down and not just more levels. What if her slamming into Malevolence wasn't just an Aura farming move? What if Simon's edicts are able to override her domain?

Randoudo

My best guess rn is physical touch, she was affected when she came to choke him. Same for Euphemia too it seems.

mhaj58

Does Helel know about the throne and the reigns?

MasterofNova

Hmm, u haven't seen many depictions of Lucifer have u?

mibrainisdead

Oh, she drew blood? Is the condition to harm her be that you need to be a believer who denounces her? Will be very interesting to see the victory conditions for Helel. I'm curious why simon isn't devouring the miasma crystals. Does he need a devour crestone perk? Or does he need to beat them in combat first?

Ikra

Knowing Balzam, he was planning to bang her

Randoudo

Asterion too is a big question, for now he plays nice but when he will be empowered i fear he will sense and try to destroy the loop. I would love to see a "gone wrong" reign there.

MasterofNova

While I am a bit concerned about the power level of this chick, it does recontextualize the feats done by the first generations of Noble Heroes and why so many were needed in the first place for so relatively few and isolated beings.

Greenstar Player

Helel proves to be as full of herself as she can back it up frustratingly enough. Mythic attacks, light speed, mind control powers which were devastating enough, reduce your to 1 HP AoE spell, domain, an utterly broken OP defense, aura, fate related abilities, actually good looking unlike her siblings (except Asterion, he is the best demon around). At this is her base state with a host. Nodens became a nightmare with Abraxas and she is stronger than him without the comet.

RedZingyHedgehog

Filip gets fucking one shot again... What a scrub.

Greenstar Player

It shows different result on website. Also Void posted that there is a 11 vote difference in exact numbers

J Burns

I think we see at the end there: his secret weapon is Euphemia. I'd guess her situational invulnerability doesnt apply to a 'true believer' who rejected her, or something similiar.

Greenstar Player

It doesn't look like it. She boasts that she is fate and everything occured because of her, but as Simon noted, her escape was a fluke among his Reigns. She doesn't seem or behave as if she knew

granndfunk

It's going to be something Balzam-specific like she's actually terrible in bed

granndfunk

I'm not an Anna hater but I do think it might be wise to... remove her from the chess board at the beginning of the reigns for now.

Mihai

TFTC

Logrus

They seem to work like a Waaaaagh! in that the more people who are feeding the fear / beliefe, the stronger they are. And it seems ~the entire church of the light is feeding the maiden.

Randoudo

He was level 55no? So pretty much a weakling for a fight this big look at Thalas, 10levels higher, or Dassein 20+ higher who got yeet into the sky/ocean.

Myrdin

She infiltrated the light megalith and made the whole world worship her. She is enhanced by the power of faith. What is interesting is why did Balzam make the Light his national religion, when he definitely knew about the Maiden. He should have destroyed the religion entirely to fight her

I_boole 663

Mary Sues are Protagonists that warp the reality of the fiction they inhabit so that everything always goes their way. The Maiden is not a Mary Sue, get your terminology right.

Juice

I believe it’s been established that Simon can only consume the Zodiac Crystals after he’s beaten them while Abraxes has empowered them. If not he’d probably just go around consuming them right away to neutralize the threat, alas no such simple solution he’s got to do it the hard way.

mibrainisdead

I thought he can eat them without abraxas and eating an abraxas empowered fiend will give him a greater power than if they weren't empowered?

Juice

After seeing this beat down she’s delivering I definitely think the Unicorn run was the better choice. We need an inside look at Lore, the ability of the Paladin to resist, and how best to keep her locked away / neutralized until Simon gets stronger and comes up with a better game plan. If she is this strong without the comet with the comet she’s definitely going to be an endgame level threat.

SlaveToMyWhims

I'm sitting here laughing at the idea of how hard is Simon going to be bitchslapping the cobweb from now on as a matter of principle.

Randoudo

We will absolutely get the paladin party with Simon popping on Verney in Unicorn. He will not let him stay in Lore.

Randoudo

They fixed "the bug" with the devourer title when Simon did it with Asterion so he can't do it again. Balzam said "My bastard is too bold by half not to try devouring another crystal, and another might succeed where the bull failed.". So now he can only do it after defeating an empowered one

Ty Reol

I think Balzam knew the maiden host would be Anna all along and he could simply kill her before she ever had the chance to merge

Skitterdidnothingwrong

I think this would (rightfully) destroy Simon’s mental health and probably cause the Commander to rebel / kill Simon. It’d be much easier to just protect her from being kidnapped better in future Reigns. Edit: Even just losing the Commanders support would be a major loss. Simon needs every bit of power he can get if he’s going to make it through all these threats.

Nightmare Lore

My best guess would be the Oracle for that. I don't think she'll be that much stronger in a straight up fight.

Randoudo

she would have access to tier 10 spells at least (she already casted one in marthrone) + old elves so i would not bet on it.

Zenmeerkat

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I wanted sparkly vampire Simon "my sweet reigns, what sweet music they make" plus the pure stat boost from becoming a vampire would definitetly remove lots of physical barriers in his reigns, its past time he overcame louis and the dragons.

Armo

I’m predicting it right now: Louis, Euphemia and Simon are going to eke out a win, and Simon is going to either be backstabbed by Louis or frontstabbed by the Oracle.

Gianni

Seeing some final fantasy influence with that merciless angel attack , love it.

Will

To be fair, the maiden was hyped to be the most powerful of the Zodiac fiends. If she were any less powerful it would be pretty disappointing.

Gristle Tock

:/ didn’t get to vote. Was going to go for the other one

Sernkei

Why is Anna important to him? She says that she loves him, but at the academy reign, she wanted to fuck his "friend". Why doesn't he just cast some sort of stasis on her and put her in his crown skill space? Or just get rid of her somehow? Mentally, I guess Simon has been in the reigns for more than 10 years, and with so much going on, his feelings for Anna should be gone. With his current power, he can't protect her yet. And babysitting her all the time is not an option. Even the commander's support is not worth unleashing a world-destruction calamity when MC is only at level 70.

erik upps

Can't wait to see what kind of effect Louis using the True Mana Sword has on her, hopefully.

Randoudo

Simon is trying hard to stay grounded to reality and you propose he torture his previous best friend/wife (what we think of her doesn't matter lol, for Simon it didn't change) in a subspace hell that made Velvet (the sadist who loves torture) die with horror on her face.

Sernkei

I am not sure how the stasis spell works, but if the target doesn't feel pain, then it's a good idea. Or, I think it would be wiser to just kill every dude who wants to kidnap her at the start of the reign.

Pedro Henrique

I think Nodens was directly stated to be the weakest zodiac fiend.

Pedro Henrique

I dont think they will actually beat her.

TimeScale's

Nooooooo!!!!! But the Vampire raign looked so cool!!!! DDDDDD:

Randoudo

I can totally see Simon destroy all of the Cobweb in a few reign without any drastic actions, one reign to see Verney empowered form, one more to kill him if he's too strong and then it would just need him to teleport to the attic, devour and no more problem.

eeee

Nice Sephiroth/FF7 reference. Heartless (Merciless) Angel is such a broken attack.

Nihilea

Merciless Angel? So she’s Sephiroth.

Will T.

Would I be tarred and feathered if I said that Helel is best girl, no contest for me?

David Burchfield

Definitely getting the op optional boss vibes from her (like Seph in Kingdom Hearts).

Brandon K Kamaka

I like the true believer theory. If it had been just Simon I'd figure it was some overlord fuckery, but with it being Simon and Euphemia, I could see it being people who had a strong connection to the light, which would be exactly those two.

RedZingyHedgehog

Clearly Remedia needs a real class user to stand beside her on the throne.

blib

Bingo. I've nowhere to leave this prediction, but Ariane de Rothschild is going to suffer a heart attack soon-ish. She tried and failed to coup the Rothschilds and put her 75% White Gentile & non-Salic daughters in charge of the Swiss faction and failed. She then tried to outmaneuver the French branch and failed. The Epstein exposure will get entirely pinned on her with a neat little bow. The "tell" is the art collection tort moving through courts paired with the French raid. Once you see the art collection lawsuits start people are going to die. They've got to lock down your liquidity and dead man's hand option before the Saxitoxin hits your veins.

blib

Simon can't just "teleport into the attic" as that isn't how the attic works. You need an invite from the fetch. Not even the Rogue power bypasses this. The only way you can take out the attic is by snatching a fetch in a way that doesn't tip-off the Twins and possess it with Hector's helm. The best bet would be to ignore Anna and keep her stuck at Berwick. If Maublanc weren't her father I'd say kill her at the start until Helel's been defeated at Comet power. Then you can leave her parked somewhere that she can't fuck things up by Mana Goddess possession or some shit.

Plot Twist

It might be people blessed by the light can damage her

Diego Urbina

Bruh, do the people with first letter "b" hate Anna cause her name starts with "a" or something?

Doofenshmirtz

Tbf, Nodens was the first time we've seen an empowered fiend and the Maiden is THE most powerful fiend. We've seen other fiends like Exo zero gravity boy and Mr Crabs, and while they were crazy strong, Simon could still fight back by himself or with some fairly mediocre teammates.

Doofenshmirtz

My theory is the Oracle might come in last second to both finish Helel and the Overlord off. Straight bush camping.

granndfunk

I don't disagree, but at least his attacks here and the defense of Frightwall have been the best displays of his strength yet.

Doofenshmirtz

I know what kind of man you are.

Diego Urbina

base Asterion is slightly weaker than base Helel. Simon-Asterion is the same as Anna-Helel, cause Simon adds more power than Anna.

Alchem

Damn, what a drastic change in vibe. Going from being in total control in this reign to having to hide his power and play nice yet again in the next. Kinda a mood killer. Overlord to submitting to the Paladin

Vik M.

I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on any of this, but is there any evidence that the abuse Shoshana Strook experienced was in any way related to the frankist movement? From a quick google search I'm not finding anything connecting them, either than both being linked to judaism.

Diego Urbina

Daessin and Thalas both hit her, neither did damage. Oddly, both Simon and Euphemia denied her as a goddess.

blib

She herself wasn't a voluntary member, but she was raped and tortured from 2 onward causing full-blown true Dissociative Identity Disorder. I'll try and figure out a way to link it but I downloaded the art she drew of the rituals on her social media. If you study the occult it only has 1 origin source. It features women tied up nude being tortured whilst surrounded by stakes. The stakes have the Crucifix OVER the Star of David/Rempham/Seal of Solomon in an inversion. Haredi despise Christ and Christianity, to put his symbol OVER that of Solomon? Dead ringer for a Frankist cult.

Dexter Sinister

Getting Empress fucking Euphemia to renounce the Light is DEFINITELY what his title is going to focus on this time. Thinking back to Chapter 1 this is not a move I would’ve ever expected from her even with any amount of manipulation.

AarronConLeche

I'm out of the loop; what's this about the merger RRtreon in the AN?

alejandrox

Thank you for the chapter!!! NOOOOOO!!! DAMN IT!!!! MY PERFECT REIGN DIED T.T
