Previous Chapter

Euphemia smashed Helel in the chest with thunderous rage.

While Simon didn’t fully understand all the Judge’s abilities yet, he knew they received a damage bonus against individuals who had broken their Laws. A blow like that one had slain Vouivre, yet such was the Maiden’s power that she barely flinched. Still, a drop of blood dripped down the thin wound on her chest that appeared at the impact; a tiny cut near her crystal heart that marred the perfect beauty of her pristine skin.

Anna’s fair face twisted with rage. “You dare strike me?!”

“I do!” Euphemia replied, her jaw tightening in anger. She would not forgive the way she hurt her children. “Bounty Order!”

A floating number appeared over Helel’s head, representing a millions-strong bounty the empire had now issued for her head. Most importantly, the bounty would also ensure all attacks against Helel would be counted as critical hits and inflict additional damage.

Helel retaliated with an elegant yet furious roundhouse kick that sent Euphemia flying back, then unleashed a wave of red miasma that struck everyone nearby. The bounty number disappeared, and Simon sensed his Darkflight and other buffs being stripped away from him.

Tehom negated all effects! All buffs have been nullified! Your marriage contract has been nullified!

Acedia status! All elemental attacks will inflict supereffective damage unless nullified!

Only his connection to his Party and his Devil Brands remained active. Still, Helel chose to fly upwards rather than hold her ground. Simon and Louis both gave pursuit with their respective mounts, with Euphemia regaining control of her flight and following far behind. Louis fired multiple swords and spears from his Armory at the Maiden with uncanny accuracy, but all of them shattered or bounced off her skin.

Helel let out a wail that reverberated across the battlefield, with angels and brainwashed slaves carried upwards by their thorny crowns answering her call. Their bodies gathered into compact masses of flesh the size of houses and buildings, which Helel then telekinetically threw at her pursuers as if they were meteors. When Simon attempted to blast her with Hellfire Gaze from a distance, she moved them in the path to block the attack.

Helel was turning her thralls into literal meatshields.

Simon quickly hastened himself, the effect extending to his dracozombie mount through the bond they shared, and proceeded to dodge the projectiles coming at him. Louis didn’t even bother to avoid the attacks. His mount blasted the masses coming at him to cinders while he continued to nail Helel from afar. He switched from flinging swords to spears and javelins carved with runes of elemental power, but none of them worked.

“I have checked all elements, brother,” Louis warned him. “Her Shekhinah ability blocked them all, but I do not think it is a blanket elemental immunity.”

“I don’t think so either,” Simon agreed. Euphemia’s lightning hammer attack had drawn blood, and Hellfire Gaze hurt her too. “It must be some conditional immunity. Either one fulfills it and they can harm her, or she’ll straight up ignore everything.”

“I am wounded that you and our stepmother appear to fulfill this condition, while I do not.” Louis pondered the problem and put forward suggestions. “It cannot be faith… Euphemia is a Visionary and you are the Overlord… this false goddess could be vulnerable to individuals with a strong connection to the Light and Dark.”

Simon hesitated a moment, then decided the situation was simply too dire to waste time on. This was the kind of battle he had to survive at any cost and worry about the consequences later. “Let’s check.”

He opened his Inventory, summoned the Mana Sword, and tossed it to his brother through the air. Louis grabbed it immediately with a smirk on his lips, having expected such a gesture.

All of that effort to achieve peace, only to find myself relying on madmen. There was something deeply wrong with a world that rewarded the likes of Louis and stymied the efforts of the peaceful. Strength is all that matters in the end.

Helel stopped her ascent near the firmament where only the strongest of airships could reach, and where the light of the stars could still pierce through the darkness of Simon’s Edict of Endless Night. The Maiden briefly basked in their radiance and then raised her hands.

Simon immediately sensed a flow of mana and miasma coursing towards her. She drained her thralls below of their power the same way he restored his own reserves with his Devil Brands, their combined strength allowing their mistress to cast the highest of sorceries.

It’s now or never, Simon thought, as his trap’s jaws snapped shut on Helel.

The Maiden’s head snapped to her right as a cloud of miasma erupted nearby, solidifying in the form of a great crab monster floating by his own power. Lotan the Isolator blanketed his sister in his Crushing Loneliness, while his Roguish summoner became visible next to it.

Voltobauta.

“I usually do not take so many risks,” the pirate king had admitted to Simon back when they were drafting plans, “but to defy a goddess… now that’s the kind of challenge you change your plans for.”

And for all of his faults, he was a man of his word.

As befitting a pirate king, Voltobauta had almost as many levels in Rogue Vassal Classes as he did in his Necromancer one. While not as talented as Silk and Velvet, he was the best inheritor they had on short notice. He had lurked nearby, waiting for the perfect opportunity to summon Lotan in close proximity to their enemy and hopefully break her hold over her army.

It failed.

The surprise attack didn’t interrupt the flow of prayers and mana reaching Helel, nor break her hold over her troops below. All it did was piss her off.

“You think a lesser Zodiac’s power could affect me? Me?” Helel’s eyes burned with merciless radiance. “No stars can outshine the sun!”

Two beams of searing light surged from her eyes, each brighter than the fiercest dawn. They vaporized Lotan, annihilating its projection, and then aimed for its master. Voltobauta’s immense agility allowed him to dodge by flying to the side with the grimoire still in his hands.

The beams turned and pursued the vampire.

The surprised Voltobauta failed to dodge the rays and was incinerated on the spot for his trouble, his two Noble Crestones falling into the void below alongside the Crab’s crystal.

Her Shekhina protects her from the other Zodiac Fiends’ power, Simon realized. Lotan could cut her followers off from their patron, but its power couldn’t affect Helel herself. No, no, if that were the case she would have enslaved the likes of Asterion and he was confident we could take her on.

What was the chink in her armor?

“Grand Convergence,” Helel said as she completed her incantation, her words reverberating across the heavens.

Reality itself shuddered, and space ripped open. A rift widened as the world’s very dimensions unraveled, revealing a portal into some distant solar system. Seven planets of various colors and textures—some coated in earth and magma, others in water and clouds—appeared on the other side, floating in the void in a cross formation.

Then they flew out of the rift and into Brimir’s atmosphere.

Simon could only blink in sheer disbelief as the solar system materialized above his head. These replicas were nowhere near the size of the real planets, but they were still the size of entire airships and falling rapidly towards them. The biggest of them, a massive chunk of rock and swirling gas, cast them all in its shadow.

“Behind me!” Louis ordered with a tone that brooked no opposition. Simon followed through and positioned his mount behind him, as did Euphemia. The Warrior raised his Mana Sword and swung it faster than the eye could follow. “Spaceslash.”

He cut through reality itself and cleanly sliced the planet in two, causing both halves to fall on either side of them.

However, beams of light surged from the interstice in a surprise attack. Louis leaped off his mount as it was struck in the face and swiftly beheaded. Simon and Euphemia moved out of the falling corpse’s way, while Louis summoned shields beneath his feet and kept himself afloat by creating a stairway of them.

The other false planets continued their descent in their cross formation down onto the battlefield below, smashing airships out of the sky and falling into the sea with such power as to trigger tidal waves that reached the clouds. One struck Helel’s own floating islands and the resulting impact could probably be felt all the way to Cocagne.

She’s a nation destroyer, Simon realized. She could do as much damage as an empowered Nodens on her own, if not more so. She must never escape her seal. For Anna’s and everybody else’s sake.

Helel continued to strike at them from afar with beams of light surging from her fingers, using her immense speed to keep them on the defensive. She would have struck Simon had his wife not moved in front of him, the beam bouncing off her.

“Stay at range and cover us,” Euphemia ordered him. “You are highly vulnerable without our marriage contract and my Binding Vows.”

Simon nodded in agreement. “For all it's worth, I think our marriage could have gone much worse.”

“I agree.” There was a hint of softness in Euphemia’s voice. “Mayhaps we can start on better terms once we win this.”

Once we win this. Her words brought a smile to Simon’s lips. We are House Magnos. There’s no god we cannot destroy.

Following Euphemia’s strategy, Simon engaged Helel in a long-range duel, switching between casting Ruin in an attempt to debuff her and Ectoplasmer to keep her on her toes. He had no idea whether the Maiden’s Shekhina could shield her from ailments, but the fact she focused on dodging suggested it wasn’t foolproof.

His wife used the Judge’s Binding Vows to increase her speed manyfold until she became a blur, no doubt sacrificing power in some stats to bolster her Agility. She chased Helel across the sky, and while her speed couldn’t approach that of light, she proved persistent enough to force the Maiden to stay on the move. Meanwhile, Louis ran across an ever-expanding bridge of falling shields from another direction. His blade had become invisible, likely to ensure Helel couldn’t see its real length and thus anticipate its motion.

Sensing an opportunity to trap the Maiden in a pincer attack, Simon had his dracozombie charge at Helel while he activated Hellfire Gaze. Helel countered with her own sunlight gaze, their powers clashing in a flash that set the Edict of Endless Night alight. Her attack was stronger than Simon’s own, even with her element weakened, but Louis and Euphemia exploited the opening to surround her.

Realizing the danger, Helel cancelled the clash of Dark and Light and kicked Euphemia away after dodging her hammer. Her arrogance, and the fact Louis had failed to harm her before, meant she briefly hesitated to dodge when he came for her and activated Spaceslash.

He struck her.

A slower opponent would have been sliced in two, but Helel was fast enough to avoid the worst of it. Still, the Mana Sword cut through two of her right wings like a knife through butter and drew a fountain of blackened blood; and when Louis immediately leaped off his current platform to hit her again, she fled out of his reach at lightspeed rather than hold her ground. Her very crystal’s radiance dimmed for a second.

Simon saw it all over her face, as brief as a shooting star and yet unforgettable.

A look of fear.

The Mana Sword could harm her, maybe even kill her.

“If you were truly the Light itself, then why would an overmighty dryad’s toothpick harm you?” Louis taunted the Maiden as he once again summoned a floating shield beneath his feet. “A fraud through and through.”

Helel’s expression morphed into one of pure, absolute fury. A wrath as terrible as the radiant sun seized her.

“I suffer contempt from neither lord nor serf!” she said, miasma swirling around her. “I didn’t want to do this… I truly wanted you to live to serve me…”

Space folded again, and by the time Simon realized the issue, it was too late. Helel’s open Abyssal Domain shrank and closed around them, enveloping the four of them in a sphere of reddish miasma. A weblike pattern of thorny vines encircling mirrors, all reflecting the Maiden herself, formed the walls of their prison.

Anna-Helel has trapped you in her Abyssal Domain! Teleportation is negated, and escape is impossible!

The miasma in the air gathered in such a large quantity that it became almost oppressive, and the mirror web vanished to reveal a void of swirling blue and red colors; a pocket universe of aurora lights without air or ground to slow them down.

Realizing the danger, Simon immediately used Darkbound to grow to colossal size, consequences be damned. His mount grew with him as an extension of his being, turning into a giant shadow. Louis summoned an impenetrable cocoon of melded shields around himself while Euphemia charged at Helel with her warhammer.

“But if you would spit on redemption, then all I offer is death’s compassion!” Helel’s wings furled to cover her whole. “Eschaton.”

Then, there was light.

The entire Domain was set ablaze in a torrent of energy, of miasma and mana joined in a bright primordial chaos of burning colors and plasma. Simon fired a Hellfire Gaze carrying all of the Abyss’ fury and his mount breathed putrid poison capable of slaughtering thousands, but both were pushed back by the tide of radiance. Euphemia, Louis, and everything else was swallowed into a blinding flash.

And beyond that final light, Simon only found death.

—--------

It was the truth of the world that all lights would die one day, and darkness alone would remain in the void.

That dreadful knowledge almost came as a comfort when Simon found himself floating in front of the Crimson Throne again. He half-expected for the reigns to be disrupted like when struck with the Mana Sword, but he received a Title as normal.

This is the Twenty-Fourth of your Hundred Reigns.

You have earned the Title of Simon the Lightbringer.

The Lightbringer: You have enlightened the world in more ways than one. You can now use your Dreadful Aura when cloaking yourself in a veil of false light. Dreadful Aura will project an oppressive radiance emanating from you, but otherwise work as normal.

For all of her overwhelming might, Helel was no true goddess. She couldn’t disrupt the Overlord cycle. This gave Simon relief. As much as he felt bitter over how all of his efforts to achieve peace had gone for naught this reign, he didn’t die facing an invincible deity, but a faillible—if very powerful—demon. Helel was beatable.

In her base form. A shudder traveled down Simon’s spine. What will she be capable of when blessed by Abraxas?

Did his father know? He had to. He had located Helel’s crystal, so there was no way he hadn’t done his homework… but if he was aware of the threat she represented, why did he allow the Church of the Light to become the empire’s official religion? It didn’t match the behavior of someone who fully grasped the threat at hand.

Or did he know something Simon didn’t? Alcyone said the Oracle was confident the Maiden couldn’t escape the Light Megalith, and the Cobweb finding Anna was a fluke… Simon could tell he was missing a very important detail.

However, he walked out of this reign with a single, overriding conclusion: peace with the Oracle was, if not utterly impossible, a complete waste of time at the moment. She interpreted overtures as weakness and would rather ally with the likes of Verney rather than entertain a ceasefire. Simon would show her no mercy until he found a way to reliably pressure her.

The Cobweb has to die too, as soon as the reigns begin. Simon wasn’t entirely strong enough nor capable of doing that on the first day without some preparation, but he would turn their extermination into a routine given enough time. There will come a time when Valravn dies within an hour of my awakening.

As for Euphemia… Euphemia had proved to be a better person and ally than what Simon expected. Strong-willed, somewhat wise in spite of her issues, and capable of going against a being pretending to be her god. She made for a reliable ally once they grew to trust each other, though it took some effort on Simon’s part. Even Louis had been almost reliable. His brutality made him predictable and he was indeed somewhat loyal, or at least honorable enough to stick by House Magnos’ side.

It just put into perspective how much time they had wasted because of old grudges and Balzam Magnos. Simon’s father had no doubt encouraged the rot in their family rather than unite it against the real threat. It just seemed so… so pointless compared to what they could achieve together.

Should he ally with Euphemia again this time around? He had had much success and could avoid the pitfalls that ruined the last reign by keeping Anna away from court and not bothering with appeasing Illusea. He could make their marriage work better this time around and prevent the Maiden’s escape…

Those questions filled Simon’s mind as he awakened inside his room and looked through the window. The night was up, shrouding Marthrone in shadow. Hundreds of priests prayed for a dawn that might very well rob them of their free will in the future.

No, Simon decided after a moment’s consideration. I can’t build a power bloc centered around the Church of the Light until I can ensure Helel can’t subvert it. I have to contain that threat first.

He needed to fully access the Light Megalith and confirm the seal would hold, but how could he be sure of that, short of conquering Lore itself in another yet pointless war? Unless…

While the Oracle and Illusea were a lost cause, Alcyone, Alphonse, and the White Unicorn were another matter entirely. Their leader had left them in the dark about the real threats, but they had their doubts. They might listen and focus on the only enemy that mattered, or at least let him study the Light Megalith to ensure Helel wouldn't threaten them all.

Still, there was no way they would trust an Overlord sitting on the Crimson Throne. He could only think of only one way to give them pause, and it meant his family would tear itself apart again in his absence. He would need to throw all this progress aside.

Next time, Simon told himself. Next time, it’ll be better. One day, it’ll be perfect.

One day.

Def second I guess lol. Tftc!

Damn..... I really thought they would have managed to kill her. Still good first attempt.

NOOO, IT SHOULD'VE BEEN THRONE OF NIGHT 💔

Great ending

Hive Tyrant

Hmmmm. Mana sword works on everything lol

UNIBRO HERE WE COME!

Leo S.S.

Wish Simon could’ve killed maublanc before the end. Or at least seen him so we knew if he was brainwashed or not.

Andrew Lechner

The Lightbringer perk will serve him well when acting as a "good" Overlord while working with the White Unicorn.

Leo S.S.

Still, Helel was amazing. Definitely such a cool fight.

2026-09-05 11:00 "Next time, Simon told himself. Next time, it’ll be better. One day, it’ll be perfect." You could even call it a Perfect Run

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

That would’ve been crazy if they beat the strongest zodiac fiend first try

asa..lollipop

Dare i say it'll be "The Perfect Reign" one day?

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

So she wasn’t going all out at all. Good to know. I doubt even the next reign they come blow for blow Simon will win. I give it 3-4 maiden focused reigns before Simon can kill her at full power for good.

Flufflez

Perhaps Helel's weakness is like the weakness of Simon's Devil brands. Maybe she could be targeted through her thralls. Balzam may have helped the Church of Light ascend so that he'd have a bunch of proxies he could use to strike at the Maiden.

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Peak reference. Maybe the real perfect run were the demons we beat on the way.

Felix H.

Yikes. Helel really needs an extra stiff beating to keep her down.

Alibhai

Yeah you're right but still I was holding out hope that they would discover whatever her weakness was.

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Also I think it really goes to show just how much stronger the maiden and the Minotaur are than all the others. Wasn’t exodeos also considered up there? Yet he lost to a level 40-50 Simon and a couple templars. I’d put the maiden way above all empowered Fiends with the exception of the Minotaur. Also just curious do yall think the Anna Helel combo is genuinely no match for a Simon Asterion combo? I hope we see the two of them merge in some reign in the future, might even be a secret boss fight for the other characters.

Cindermoth

Happily vote for that next, but this is a route that seriously needs to be explored

Ryan Peters

We were so close. Maybe next reign...

Daniel

Unless I've missed something, Norbelle was still alive and part of Simon's party when the reign ended. That...might have consequences.

Randoudo

She wasn't there at the time of his death, so no. She would need to see him die.

Antony444

I agree with Simon. Now that we have seen what Anna-Helel can do on her own (it's incredibly bad) avoiding to see her being empowered by the Zodiac Parade is not just an utmost priority, it is a necessity if one wants a world to be left standing at the end of the year of Doom. Nodens under Abraxas' light was a colossal threat. Helel would likely make him look like a mini-Boss in comparison.

Tate Browder

I think exodeos should be stronger if merged with a host but since he was freed prematurely without any host then he was much weaker

mhaj58

So it turns out that there’s something in Brimir that can destroy a united House Magnos after all. This was the best reign yet, with the political intrigue, the enemies to spouses, and the new paths to power. I don’t think that the Unicorn reign will be as long though. I think it will be less than 20.

Noxx

Considering Nodens' even when Comet empowered was stated to be weaker than Helel, means that the stat/level boost given is around 20ish? If he's been stated to be one of the weakest Fiends, and Void said they all start at around level 60ish, that's where my train of logic is coming from. Though that means if Helel is level 90... She'd break the level cap when empowered.

Rodmin

I'm so excited for bromance with Alphonse! I really liked this reign. Seing all of House Magnos together was a really nice thing and I liked how Euphemia and Simon bonded and supported each other so much in the end despite their original feelings. I just had wished to see a bit more of Dassein and Casval, but maybe they can team up more often in the future and Simon maybe have more time with both of them.

Alex

It would be hilarious if the next title will give him an ability to summon a unicorn as his mount.

Noxx

That's a good theory. I was actually something along the lines of having to have believed in her/or loved her to be able to beat her special skill. Since that's the only thing that I see in common(Euphemia love for the Light and Simon's love for Anna) since it would be thematic relating to Helel. Or you could bypass it with the Mana Sword, but that thing kills anything.

blib

The problem with making the true mana sword hard counter Helel is that Louis would have defeated her easily (he hit her "countless times" with useless weapons) had he started with the sword. Which means all Simon has to do for non-empowered Helel is make sure Louis has his war boner and he's good to go. Or spend a reign figuring out how to corrupt the sword with miasma.

blib

That reign power is either going to be incredibly useful or completely useless. If it allows Simon to cast light prayers whilst suited up it's great. Otherwise I cannot think of a single use for it.

granndfunk

The only real issue I have in this series is the fights/battles, because it just feels like people constantly pulling out Uno Reverse cards on each other

Randoudo

It wouldn't change much no? She reacted at the first real strike and stopped playing nice at that moment (closed abyssal domain + essentially a one shot of the 3 strongest Magnos (Elios doesn't count)). It would be the same fight just without the planet strike.

Diego Urbina

Simon finally got vaporized. Honestly pretty surprised how long it took.

blib

They blew every single ambush by that point. The initial attack, the edicts, the initial confrontation, the trap with the lightning, the trap with the Rogue/Necromancer, the moment where All vs 1 had her struck multiple times too. All Louis needs is 1 clean blow to kill or cripple whilst all allies are 100%. By the time he struck her they were down to 25% force strength.

Diego Urbina

Before he damaged her, Louis claimed she was a false goddess. So you might have to denouce her within her domain to get past her immunity.

Raphael Freudenschuss

It does make one wonder what a properly empowered Serpent-bearer would look like, especialy now that he is also technicaly Abraxas.

blib

It's highly likely you are correct on the "denounce to damage" condition.

Black Rose

He should stop by the minotaur to try and ask why he thought the maiden would be easy

Ty Reol

Peak reference indeed!!! Let it be so!!

blib

Sadly there are only 3 kinds of fights. 1. Non-reign ending fight. Simon curbstomps the enemy after tanking damage. 2. Reign ending fight. Simon defeats some enemies and is immediately finished off by the remainder. 3. Reign ending assassination. Simon just impotently dies to a backstab. Occurs less often, but initially was almost every single reign ender.

theimmodium

Time to prance and skip with the fairies under blue skies and rainbows

Agoramon

"...next time it will be perfect." Say that again

hi angus

I can't help but wonder the point of Simon using devour crestone on the Summoner perk when he does not have two summons active often, take advantage of carbuncle, nor will they continue to match his level in future reigns.

Bilbo

Bro can Simon PLEASE do something about his buffs getting dispelled? It literally keeps happening

Raphael Freudenschuss

Thats a realy good idea, though i think it is actualy having worshiped her and then still being able to resist her. If I remember right louis never even worshiped her and so he didnt need to resist her when she awoke.

Randoudo

He only said “She would be no match for us if we merged" and when Simon refused “Hopefully, we will be able to properly discuss things when Abraxas shines upon your constellation" he said “If you survive that long.” I bet as some people said that the Simon-Asterion combo was a pain in the ass, bigger than Anna-Helel. He killed Balzam multiple times with it don't forget.

CentaureHeart

I can't believe they didn't manage to kill Helel in the end.

LuciferLilac

Woop! Great chapter. And I'm liking how this next reign is being set up! I did technically vote against it, but seeing how Simon framed it at the end there, I would probably have voted for it actually :) A new entry for the Reign Enders! And I've slotted this one very near the top, as I anticipate quite a few losses to her. But she doesn't compare with House Magnos 🤭 I think, though, this is the first time we've had a loss to a Zodiac Fiend alone? (maybe a couple ones hybriding with a major enemy, though) Reigns Elapsed: 23 -Louis 2 -Euphemia 1 -Helel 1 -Vouivere 3 -Casval 2 -Lauriane 1 -Mastemo 1 -Thalas 2 -Patriate Malphas 1 -Mana Sword 2 -War Party 1 -The Crimson Throne 2 -The Abyss 1 -Balzam 1 -War/Church Party Crossfire 1 -Himself? 1

Randoudo

It will be a lot more useful when he will do the 5 sovereigns reign or archmage one to get the phoenix and company (level 75+ eidolon in their base form so level 85+ in their miasmic later). At level 90-100 he would have the control for it anyway.

Greenstar Player

Exodeos didn't have a host and he sacrificed the equivalent of like 20 levels or more of power when breaking free. Not to mention he did defeated all the demon killing specialized Templars, it was Overlord Simon who managed to put him down. In other words, we saw the Scales of Nothing at his worst unlike Nodens who was at his best and unlike Helel who is in her neutral base form. Considering, he showed feats like neutralizing all buffs and debuffs plus preventing them to be applied, or his mythic instadeath attack, or his ability to reduce the levels of class users, he might be a serious threat even to high level individuals if he weren't weakened.

Vakothu

I mean she *is* the strongest Zodiac Fiend aside from Marduk, so I'd be more surprised if they did the first time she broke free.

Firstname Lastname

If it’s an option I promise I’ll vote for it next time, but we seriously need to get some intel on helel.

Nightmare Lore

But we have to make sure Simon uses the Summoner Crestone itself to level up in it for the Stat growth. He can only level it in a single Reign and the quickest way to do that is to make as many Dark Eidolon Pacts as he can in the same Reign.

Will Iam

Just curious, how many votes of difference between unicorn and vampire loops?

Randoudo

Yeah he would need a reign like throne of the night to up some crestone, it would be cool to take the necromancer during that time and level it up during those decades as a vampire.

Logrus

Simon should really start asking for trust code words from the people he allies / friends in each reign. Phrases or knowledge that can convince them that he has seen into possible futures where they are friends. Also - on approaching the Unicorn - "My dad passed the Overlord class to me because its prophetic powers told him I would otherwise become the Paladin and whoop Endymion ass" seems like as good a story as any... and it has the benefit of being partially to mostly true, just in case he needs to pass a lie detector!

Logrus

Seconded on Dassein / Casval. Dassein seems like the absolute bro Casval actually needs...

Ikra

When the apocalypse is tamed, when there's nothing to conquer on the board, once all blood is shed and all fur removed, once the commerce stops being the emperor, it will be perfect

Jasus

A glorious end the the (currently) best reign.

Ikra

It will be perfect run when Simon tames the apocalypse and conquers everything on the board

Juice

I have to say, Louis really won me over this Reign. I expected to like Euphemia better but Louis was a pleasant surprise, I know Warlords wasn’t a popular pick but I’d definitely like a future reign with him as an ally

Nightmare Lore

Perhaps, the current Necromancer is also a vampire. I'm unsure about the level bonus for Dark Eidolons. Vayan at Lv 60 only got a 15 Lv bonus. There's also the problem to use the Dark Sovereigns Simon has to outlevel them too. hi angus: I'd like to also point out the usefulness of having two Auspices active. Even weak Dark Eidolons might have ones that could synergize with another. Admittedly it might not feel like the best option now, but it ties into Simon's nature as a Dark Visionary, same as with the Oracle/Librarian choices. And it still gives Simon more allies on his side for combat. If we can just permanently destroy the Merchant Crestone Xenophon would be an odd addition due to his variable Level.

Nightmare Lore

He didn't have any faith built with the Light Megalith, that's what Helel uses to corrupt people.

racnor 1

Helel is just out here casting Mass Divorce on people. I wonder if Tehom has any loopholes like the damage reduction effect?

CentaureHeart

I guess but they threw everything they had at her, oh well. For next time

Josiah

I'm betting the mana sword only works because it has the mana goddess's blessing and like Simon and Euphemia she had prayed to the light manalith before but fought off Helel's domination and renounced her. Makes me wonder if Simon kills the world tree before Helel is freed and the mana goddess never gets the chance to resist Helel's control, will the mana sword still be effective?

Josiah

Feels like it's been hinted that Dassein is in the closet and Casval did say he was willing to do romance for friendship so idk man I think this ship has set sail.

Josiah

Considering how easy it is now to take out the zodiac fiends if all he has to do is beat each one once in 70+ reigns and then they are no longer a threat, there's no way that's going to be the end game. I'm betting his own class/Mardok and the other Overlords will be the final antagonists and something to do with Abraxas itself as well. The serpent bearer is the final constellation after all.

Raphael Freudenschuss

Pretty sure that Simon-Asterion is just the singular most destructive creature in Brimir (might even be the strongest), baring maybe the gods.

Jasus

Did the Monk and the bard sit this fight out? I guess they could be refussing to fight because Simons power is shaky but Simon could have really needed their help here.

Halfcrzy

Darn. That means were doing the paladin plot instead of the weird ass vampire one I was hoping for 😆

Joe ?

Aw man. Unicorn was the one I least wanted to win. There were so many cooler options. At least this route is supposed to unmask the mana goddess.

He hit her some many times cause she did not need to dodge cause they did not hurt her. Even the hit Louis did land was cause she did not realise the threat in time. So you definitely can not say that Louis beats her easily if he starts with the sword.

blib

...you only are proving my point. "Oh she only dodged because the attacks didn't hurt her!" Then whack her with a bullshit iron sword until she's arrogant then decapitate her with the mana sword. This isn't rocket science.

CloudyBall

With how strong Helel is I don't think there is much of an option even if he is not brainwashed. What can he do but comply or die?

CloudyBall

With how stacked Simon was and considering that this is pre-buff Helel it is actually kind of crazy how much stronger she is. All of house Magnos all at once, the other Noble users, a literal lava meteor, and a miasma beam charged with 4 zodiac fiend crystals, and all they got in return where surface wounds.

Vik M.

I would like it if it did. Imo Casval would do better attached to someone who genuinely cares for him, and Dassein deserves some love too.

Vik M.

Given everything we saw Helel do, while I think it would've been interesting to see whether he was brainwashed, it wouldn't have mattered. Even if it hadn't been consensual, there's little doubt in my mind he would've been transformed.

Vik M.

I still don't trust him farther than I can throw him, and I am not a strong man. Imo he just enjoys war, and this reign turned out to have plenty of that for him to engage with while being on the side of Simon; if there hadn't been, he would've picked a fight with Simon in order to start a war for the fun of it.

Vik M.

Great powers involved in this fight: With Helel: -Commander -Helel Against Helel: -Overlord -Judge -Warrior -Alchemist -Summoner -Mage -Ranger -Rogue -Necromancer (sort of) -Adventurer -Berserker -Rider -Merchant -Dancer -Two-tailed fish (power source) -Asterion (power source) -Nodens (power source) -Lotan (power source) Not involved: -Crafter -Oracle -Paladin -Beast -Librarian -Cleric -Bard -Monk -other 7 zodiac fiends

Chad Champion

Well anathemic secrecy will take care of that either way, but i think he can definitely fake the paladin story with the new “oppressive radiance” title

Chad Champion

That s just a gimmick man. Betting on one chance to do a kill blow against a lightspeed fast enemy that managed to partially dodge a strike that already hit her is not a bet, it s burning cash. Definitely could injure her but it s not fight winning, juuuuust maybe if louis had more levels like in other reigns.

Chad Champion

We don t really know mardoks strength level here, he seems to me more the type whose strength lies in… lies. I mean, he s like a straight up lucifer, ok pretty strong on world scale for sure but his words spoken at the right time in the right way brought down nations.

Dazerg

Uhh, why would Mana Goddess pray to light megalith?

Art

Grand convergence? Dude WTF is that a ff9 grand cross reference cause holy crap

Gagaking

Wait… 4 levels means the exp required to level up goes up by about 54%? That’s … huh. Both a lot and yet a lot less than it could be? That would mean that it would take until level 88 for a single level up to require all the exp from 1 to 67. (This was based on the exp for 67 and 71)

BlaueFeder

Vampires suck. Literally and figuratively.

Had to come back and reread this one. Helel is one bad bitch.
