Today we have a funeral to attend.

I think this is my favourite episode so far.

Something so funny, so shocking, and so sad.

Honestly, brilliant.

Enjoy!

For a second I was absolutly sure you'd guess who's funeral this is... But that would've been far fetched even for your high standards haha

I must have replayed your reaction to Rupert talking to Nate 6 or 7 times. Lmao. Great episode. Looking forward to the next one. Oh boy. Thanks, Claudie. Cheers!

The events in Beard After Hours happened. There were a few elements only in Beard’s mind (commentators criticizing Beard directly), or ever-exaggerated for style (huge blue moon), but for the most part, it took place. The jarring shift in tone is what polarizes fans’ like/dislike of the episode and while the Xmas episode is also a filler, it still felt more connected as the idea of a Xmas episode being somewhat fantastical/off-kilter is an established norm. But as both were added episodes, any disconnection in the story-arc from the rest of the season is unfortunate but generally expected.

Like you, Claudie, this is one of my favorite episodes; as it does provide development along many different characters. The cutting back and forth as Ted and Rebecca tell us about pivotal moments in their lives (which took place the same day) is so moving. That they could make “Never Gonna Give You Up” a song that would bring me to tears is just amazing. And when Ted asks Sharon for a hug, it’s so wonderfully done, with such believable vulnerability and need.

This is the episode that goes in the proverbial time capsule, along with a pair of sloppy flippers 😉

In an already emotional episode, the moments where Ted wishes he could go back to being a teenager and save his dad by telling him how great he is just rip me apart every time. Great reaction, Claudie! Oh, and F all of the noises outside!

Same.

In very different ways - this episode and the one prior peel back the curtain on major characters. Instant insight on their depth. Makes me appreciate their goodness even more. The writers for this show are truly top tier.

😂 Hilarious start there Claudie! Laughter is so contagious, even through the screen! 📺

OMG yes, this episode was so Fleabag! An emotionally loaded roller coaster with no brakes!

I’ve always seen Sassy, in a way, as Rebecca’s inner voice. Telling Rupert off when Rebecca has to be civil. Love Sass!

Also.. I learned that this show does the opposite of those “tropes” that we usually expect. Probably one of the best shows, of any genre, I’ve ever seen. Along with The Good Place, Derry Girls and Fleabag. At least for “comedies”.
