Sage Berthelsen

That answers quite a few of my questions so far. Will the goblins accept future gold? Man, so many questions keep popping up in my head I really wish I had 50k more words to sink my teeth into. Thanks for the chapter, was great!!

John Brown

No offence but the story so far feels rather childish and seems to rely heavily on the trope that Harry is a strong wizard without actually doing anything to get strong. That Harry only need self confidence and a bit of training and would easily be able to take down titans like Voldemort or Grindelwald who put in decades to learn different kinds of magic and whom people were scared of for a reason. The story seems too similar to honour thy blood where he just met Arcturus got a bit of self confidence , got a bit of training and suddenly Harry was the most powerful wizard around. I am sure this would get better but I can’t help but think this story is just too similar to your previous works .

Geminiski

Would love more family interactions with Harry and the Potters. And I may be more in depth on relationships Bc it’s absolutely hilarious with Minerva and Harry quips at eachother otherwise it’s great

I am sure it was already discussed somewhere - Harry obviously has to be strong, otherwise he wouldnt have a chance ever. Aurors and duelists train their whole life yet they dont stand a chance. Dumbledore on the other hand is a rusty old coot who didnt fight anyone for 50 years and still he can match LV in the ministry. Some wizards are just born stronger than the rest, training and knowledge can only help utilise and support said strength. I think the premise is vast majority of magicians dont invest energy in combat skills, thats why the minority who do are feared. Yes, it would take more than a bit of training to take on Voldemort, but for example in HTB Harry pretty much trains 24/7 with the best resources possible. Voldemort likely didnt have an incentive or means to train like that ever. Obviously Harry could just be an ordinary kid and win with an unrealistic luck or with mountains of help... Or he could just lose. Or possibly he could just get his strength gifted by a magical entity, item or ritual, but how is that different from just being born with it? Personally I dont like the alternatives. They've been tried multiple times by multiple authors, but I havent read better works than Lee's.

Another nice chapter. I wonder if Harry gets resorted in this story as well. Also I hope he keeps his name and I'm curious how he gets introduced to the family and society. Stepping back's way was very nicely done, wonder if it can be done differently and equally well. On a slightly unrelated note - is there a patreon only discord? If so, how can I get in?

John Brown

Agreed some wizards might be born stronger than others but LV ,GG and AD were all born stronger than normal just like Harry(I suppose) but all the three titans have too much experience for Harry to just go in and learn some things in a few months and be able to match them. We have already seen this kind of story in so many other fanfics like honour thy blood and stepping back.

Andrew

Befriend the basilisk, i love it when that happens but most the time it doesn't or it isn't done right.

Ondrej Mišo

Experience is only so much. Difficult to find real life examples, but let me try chess. One v one, needs talent, practice, resources, is easy to learn but extremely difficult to master. People are constantly getting better - each champion gets beaten eventually. Decades ago it was more difficult and masters of old held on their titles longer, sometimes until very old age. Nowadays youngsters with much less experience are world champions. Carlsen became world champion in his 23 years not beating an old rusty guy but a man in his prime (40yo) and became grandmaster (beating lots of other grandmasters, usually older and more experienced) at 13. Now almost 10 years later he still is a world champion but already a new guy is on his way to be even better. The knowledge gets deeper and the training more intense and better structured. What is your prefered way for these stories to go? I mean we already know Harry will win, the story is all about how. I dont think it's Lee's way to have Voldemort sniped by a muggle with a gun from behind. Also if there's an artifact or a ritual or a sentient school pouring knowledge and skill in Harry, isnt it even more unbelievable than gaining expertise by practicing? Logically the only answer is Harry cannot beat Voldemort and Voldemort wins... But who wants to read that?

Lee McCusker (TheBlack'sResurgence)

This wowon'be anything like HTB in that regard. There will be no magical maturity etc, only Harry growing up and developing through experience. You have to remember, it is 1935. He has 2 years of school left and 3-4 before he even sets foot on a battlefield. It will be there that he gains the experience. Hogwarts is just the beginning

great chapter, what's wrong with a strong main character. I prefer classical heroes. I have no issues with a strong Harry that comes into his own. Id rather read a story about an Achilles or Mochizuki Chiyome as opposed to cannon Harry who really just seems to win by luck and ends up being a martyr.

I'm enjoying this story so far, the idea of Harry being a main opponent against Grindelwald is very interesting. Right now it seems that things are building up slowly, but I figure that's necessary since you have to introduce this whole new experience to Harry and the readers. I'm actually more curious about what's going to happen with Grindelwald here, rather than what's going to end up happening with Voldemort.

Wyatt Vreeland

I'm hoping this story is longer than whispers was. Don't get me wrong whispers was great, but it did seem kinda short. With harry delving into the Grindelwald war, there is SO much that can be done here that I really hope we get a longer length fic compared to others

I don’t get where you draw a conclusion that Harry being a competent wizard that needs more confidence but is very capable is either non canon, nor where that equates to being able to take on dumbledore or Voldemort In canon he’s clearly capable and just underperforms until his life is at risk. Casting the patronus which we know is typically only possible by aurors in canon and that too only the good ones with lots of experience. And then using it to fight off a hundred dementors That’s not the actions of a weak wizard Hence him being capable and needing confidence isn’t non canon To the other point, where did them testing him to see if he is able to do well on owls translate into him beating dumbledore? It’s clear experience and esoteric knowledge are crucial evident even by harrys explanations here of mundane spells and how much that can benefit a wizard in combat. Harry probably won’t even be able to beat or face grindlewald for 5 years if not longer in my opinion, but considering in the previous five years he keeps growing exponentially it’s clear with training and opportunities he can face someone like Voldemort Whether he can face grindlewald is unclear. Dumbledore is a transfiguration specialist while Voldemort is a dark arts specialist. However grindlewald is supposed to not only be a king of all trades he’s also got the elder wand which by definition is going to make victory challenging if not impossible in my opinion in combat.

sedition

I like how you filled in some plot holes in canon to demonstrate how this Harry has dealt well with adversity by learning and fixing holes in his knowledge. At the same time I think it will be interesting to see how flames gets involved with Harry or what exactly Harry ends up doing to weaken Voldemort’s future assets. I like the parallel to how slaying Voldemort as a child is no different to Voldemort and Harry as a baby. It is a valid point since both feared the other as a child could ruin their vision for what the wizarding world should be. I’m really eager to see more of the world get unlocked in the coming chapters.

LordRhyolith

Well, he did have a quite adventurous childhood. Most kids in his shoes would have been dead. Furthermore, I think all the pressure he had to deal with boosted his magical strength by activating some survival instincts. Kids that don't have such an adventurous life as Harry won't need the strength, but Harry knew Voldy was still after him since his fight with Quirrell, and in the second year in the CoS, it became clear that Voldemort will return. Ever since then, Harry was constantly pushed. I think that had an effect on his magic.

Steve Mccormick

Gonna be fun to see where this goes and if Harry will ever be able to get back to his time or will he fall in love with Minerva and live his life from this timeline and let Lily and James's Harry have a better life?

ck

Either this chapter or the previous one implied the Muggles were already gearing up for war, at the time Harry landed up in the past. But was the European continent (except for Germany LOL) already preparing for war in mid-1936? I really don't think so. All they were really preparing for was the Nazi Olympics. By the time Tom Riddle lands up at Hogwarts he's already evil as fuck, so ensuring he has an "accident" wouldn't actually be the worst thing in the world haha. But if Harry really doesn't want to be the one killing him, he could stun Tom, lure him into the Chamber, then have the Basilisk make eye contact with him et voila.

FangRu

Tom definitely was not evil when he came to Hogwarts. I think Tom would not become Voldemort if Dumbledore did not send him back to orphanage every year against Tom wishes and all it returns to "love". Tom is prime example of sociopath who grew up alone in orphanage with "superpowers". If Harry could become his "big brother" and guide him then he won't become Voldemort.

Francis

I’m all for a prodigy Harry but you will have to make him work for it he can’t just rock up and be more powerful then the whole 7th years at the school it just takes away from the story then. You would have to have him train and duel and actually maybe even lose for once…. Food for thought. Im looking forward to him being in the war tho I haven’t seen anything quite like that before so it will be interesting that’s for sure.

ck

Tom was definitely 100% evil before he even arrived at Hogwarts. He hung a fellow orphan's rabbit from the rafters out of spite. He mentally tortured two of his classmates (from his early Muggle schooling) so badly they were too scarred to ever speak of it again. He got his rocks off to that enough that he came back later and hid a Horcrux there. Thinking Dumbledore sending him back to the orphanage every year was the cause for his sociopathic tendencies is incorrect imo, as he was already lost by then. It's also a result of too much fanfiction - extrapolating from Dumbledore placing Harry at the Dursleys and making him go back there every summer. Dumbledore had no say in Tom's placement at the orphanage. I agree that Harry could become his "big brother" but that would've had more chances of success when Tom was 5.

LittleHowy

Great Chapter!... I see how Harry's conflicted with his view of Dumbledore and I like it. I like him being more independent and not so easily willing to trust/forgive Dumbledore like he was in canon (his loyal sheep). I realize this Dumbledore hasn't grown to be the headmaster yet, but he IS the same one that manipulated Newt! No matter what time, Dumbledore always shows his machiavellian tendencies when interacting with characters (constant legilimency on students). I want them to be close, but not after they prove they can trust one another I 'm really excited about the first PotterFamily/Harry scene as well as all the other characters, plus the future fights with Grindlewald and Harry! Hope Charlus/Arcturus/Dorea are in this. Thanks for the hard work!

Battletrain

I find myself at the edge of my seat hungry for another chapter to come.

Steve Mccormick

Yes, it would be great if Harry could get a head start by being trained and taught by Charlus and Arcturus! Also maybe get a little of the love from his Nan Dorea!
