This illustration is the cover of a book that hasn't yet seen the light of day... but for me it's already alive and kicking ❤️

Lydian Coda - From vignette “A Veneer”

“I left home too soon. I learned things no one should know. I trained to kill without mercy. I died and returned to life. I experienced absolute horror, and unconditional love,” I pause to breathe. “And then I was left alone in the middle of nowhere.”

Kelyra returns as the protagonist, proud and indomitable, astride a fiery black stallion—an image that inevitably makes me think of the energy of the Chinese New Year: strength, transformation, power that burns and renews itself. There's something symbolic about this horse, which isn't just a means, but a manifestation of will and destiny.

I'm immensely grateful to my friend Lydian Coda for commissioning this cover, and for giving me the opportunity to draw the beautiful Kelyra once again. It's always fantastic to return to her 🔥
