Even more devastating, it’s never been outright confirmed explicitly in the manga or anything, but it’s heavily implied by some lines like that final one from her father and a specific song in the OST that Petra might’ve been in love with Levi and there’s a chance he possibly might’ve felt similarly for her. If you listen to the OST song “Call Your Name” and read the lyrics, it seemingly could be interpreted as written from the perspective of Levi lamenting his lost love in Petra.

Levi would never beat up a vulnerable person. He's not heartless, he knows all too well how much it hurts ti lose someone close. He wouldn't blame that guy either, he might seem cold but Levi actually is one of the most considerate person in the show
