Back to Persona 3 Reload for me as I’ve been infected by Persona Summer. I’ve been reliving my high school years by balancing that with a replay of Soul Reaver 2.

I am getting more hyped than I expected to for the new Fire Emblem. I am a sucker for all the Spanish guitar on the soundtrack. So of course I decided to burn myself out on it before it gets here by starting a new Three Houses run.

Just got a Samsung Fold (first foldable and weening off of iOS for the first time since the iPhone 4S), so I’ve been trying out various Play Pass games, most notably: Gambonanza

    Knytt Classic!

Knytt is one of the OG indie games from 2006, a zen, atmospheric exploration platformer with zero combat. It takes about 2 hours, start to finish, and Bit Kid (Chasm, etc.) just released an updated version for FREE on Steam and GOG a couple days ago, featuring tons of QOL improvements, additional modes, filters, accessibility options, and full support across Windows, Mac, Linux, and SteamOS.

I know Russ has mentioned Knytt holding a special place for him in the past, so he should definitely get the memo about this release.

I just started Esoteric Ebb as a huge Disco Elsyium fan. LOVE the art direction of this game.

In between that, also started Dead Cells on an Android handheld (so good!) and Quake 1 on my Steam Deck. They released a new/free expansion for Quake 1 called Dawn of the Machine, so thought it would be a good time to play the original single player mode for the first time.

I just rolled credits on Metroid Zero Mission because of the Metroid episode and Maddy’s rec. Really good except for the epilogue!

Peak with the final biomes update and starting either fire emblem: three houses or persona 5 since everyone is having a persona summer!

    Sovereign Tower.

I thought i was just in for a reasonably timed dispatch-like.

Then I got a ways in and Holy Crap what a game.

I just finished Resident Evil 2 Remake and have put some time into Lies of P. I’m enjoying the game overall but I find myself a little disappointed given its reputation. I’m excited to see where it goes from here.

So, I played FTL for the first time in like 10 years and wow does it hold up.

I’m trying Void War now, which is a truly shameless FTL clone but honestly that’s what I want.

Hot take: I’m playing A Link to the Past for the first time in 2026, and I don’t think it holds up as much as people think it does.

A lot of the game design feels arbitrary and disconnected, and the dungeons would be downright unplayable for me without emulation letting you quick-save anywhere.

Halo Campaign evolved with the same group of friends I played the game with 25 years ago

I fell off Death Stranding a couple of weeks ago but going to try to pick it back up this weekend. Also playing around in the Godot engine after a long hiatus 🤖

Also seeing The Samurai and the Prisoner on Sunday, very excited!

Playing Remnant II with grad school friends and actually might pivot to Big Walk after the glowing Besties review! Also been trying to gauge whether to finish Persona 5 Royal or start Mother 3….

Lately I’ve been getting into the Ridge Racer series, particularly because I got the NeGcon PlayStation 1 controller. If you haven’t seen it, it’s essentially a controller you can twist to simulate turning, as well as having analog face buttons for gas and brake. It is a beautiful thing that hasn’t been replicated since. I have never felt so in sync with a racing game before, particularly Ridge Racer Type 4. It’s a shame that its just a little too small for me and cramps my hand.

Just finished your fighting game episode, absolutely loved it! Fighting games don’t much get talked about on my favourite gaming podcasts.

I’m a woman who started and runs the locals in my area (South of England) when Tekken 8 came out so I could have someone to play with, and while it’s definitely a boys club in terms of numbers (about 3 of us out of about 30 regulars are women) , thankfully it has never felt like that in terms of people attitudes. As Ash was saying it’s such an incredibly friendly group of people who want anyone and everyone to get involved!

One thing that didn’t get mentioned as a resource for people looking for locals is the website start.gg, this is the website that’s used to run every tournament from Evo to the smallest locals, so a great place to start if you’re looking for locals near you!

Sobosuba costs $4 and is a perfect video game

It’s about blobs. Merging them. Excellent sound design, they sound exactly like blobs should.
