Directional Joy

The game that sticks out in my mind, when thinking of humor that resulted in a physical legit laugh, is Armed & Dangerous (original Xbox, maybe on PC 🤷‍♂️).

This podcast is making me realize how much I wish games included developer commentary like Valve used to. I really love listening to the people who make games I like tell me about why they made them the way they did. I think it’s something special in games, they are such a labor to bring into the world. The people who create in other mediums might just say they followed their muse, but a game dev has an answer that they’ve thought about and can put into words for why this is this and that is that and it’s really lovely.

Loved this episode, Mike and Tom are great interviewees. Excited for next week’s episode, been a proud Retronauts Patreon supporter for many years, will be fun to hear Jeremy on your show.

Thanks Chris for giving me a new video game book to read now that I’m done with Play Nice! And thanks Mike for writing it lol. I’m halfway through, and it’s pretty great!
