Great interview. There’s a common theme from the ESA president that games should be treated equally with other types of media. And yet, the ESA advocates for special treatment (more restrictions) for games when it comes to preservation and providing archival of access to games via libraries. I’d love it if you had another opportunity to drill down on that topic, maybe even with the ESA president.

Really great interview! I think you got to the heart of it in your thoughts at the end. I think people are expecting that just because the ESA aligns with the players and game creators when it comes to the issues of violence (and games’ non-impact on it), it is an organization that is advocating on behalf of companies at the end of the day. Not to say people are being unreasonable for expecting more— just that it’s unsurprising, I suppose! Pardon these very layman thoughts on it haha. Anyway. What a big get!! I’m so stoked for all the things you have in store for us this year!

Loved the potted history of American politicians being mean about games

I’m having a hard time with the guest of this episode. He feels almost like a cartoon villain. Maybe I’m sensitive to all the exploitation in the world right now, this guy is just making me feel worse. I’m probably going to skip over the interview because what he is saying isn’t surprising but it is gross & sad.
