I watched up through I think season 3 while it was airing and I forgot just how batshit this show was

God I forgot just how much they didn't actually adapt Frankenstein in the show. Considering how much almost incest in the show already, they could have at least included Elizabeth in his narrative. Though it is a nice touch, naming the Storybrooke character after James Whale, and also maybe the closest to queerness the show is willing to acknowledge until the Mulan reveal.

I'm so glad we have our resident James Whale expert on hand to weigh in on this! I do think his name is a cool choice, a great shoutout that's obscure enough not to instantly give away the game on who the character will turn out to be, but yeah it's BAFFLING the way they just. took the name Victor Frankenstein and his necromancer tendencies and absolutely nothing else about the actual story
