Lessons With the Mothman, by Kathryn Moon. A sex anthropologist PhD candidate studying monster relationships + a moth fae sex worker/research consultant. I think it’s a fun example of the monster romance genre, and one of the only romances I’ve ever read where there’s an actual conversation about not orgasming with a partner, and where there are scenes where they don’t both orgasm and that’s treated as still good and enjoyable

Might as well rethrow in Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver, the serial killer x serial killer romance where I did not get past the content warnings page because Jesus fucking Christ Brynne, do you think ingredients lists have "uwu accidental nuts" listed in them?

My Dark Romeo by Parker S. Huntington and L.J. Shen. Loosely inspired by Romeo and Juliet, as evidenced only by the LI's name and the quote at the beginning of the book, My Dark Romeo is the dark billionaire romance that kicks off the Dark Prince Road trilogy. Dallas Townsend, heir of a Southern McMansion and bride-to-be of a nothingburger of an antagonist, meets Romeo Costa, billionaire arms dealer. When Dark Romeo forces Dallas to abandon her engagement and move into his estate, she's outraged! But together they quite extensively discover human sexuality... and perhaps... feelings? I started reading this novel loopy on pain medication after top surgery a year ago and it has haunted me since. This is my white whale. I have talked about My Dark Romeo more than literally any other book I've read in the past decade. Split POV, group chats, tragic backstories, enemies to lovers, forced marriage

I'm currently reading The Gay Best Friend by Nicolas DiDomizio and it's actually a lot of fun and EXTREMELY messy: gay guy who's childhood friends with the groom and adult friends with the bride of a straight couple about to get married has to do both the bachelor and bachelorette parties while still reeling from his own recently ended engagement and being super attracted to childhood bestie's new pro golfer bestie (who speaks in southern idioms I'm pretty sure he's just making up lol). It's a comedic contemporary romance novel with a lot of focus on the friendship dynamics which is what I love and overall themes of respectability vs being true to yourself which is also fun. Idk I'm enjoying it maybe you would too

Unique Chimera

Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon, in which a sex therapist accidentally summons a Greek demigod cursed to be her sex slave. She sets out to undo the curse, which requires him to only come inside her on a specific date. Hijinks and horniness ensue! Also the start of the Dark Hunters series so there is plenty of chaos in a similar vein if you like it

I guess throwing in The Right Thing To Do At The Time (Dov Zeller) as formality - a genderbent Jewish Pride and Prejudice retelling in New York with queer themes about the line between platonic and romantic love that reminded me of how Is Love The Answer? is about aromantic and asexual philosophy. Doesn't have buttery smooth prose but I like it better that way, decently funny, as much about following main chracter trans guy Ari (Lizzy) in his life as it is romance. Not exactly perfect and the most swoon-worthy romance (I'm not very good with those) but still has one of the best first chapters I've ever read. Super unknown so I keep talking it up to people. One important thing I forgot to mention last time: getting the physical copy (used) is mildly necessary because I've found out the eBook has a chapter missing.

Behooved by M. Stevenson Bianca knows her duty comes before her heart. So when the threat of war looms, she agrees to marry the neighboring kingdom’s heir. But not all royal weddings are a fairytale, and Prince Aric, Bianca’s betrothed, is cold, aloof, and seems to hate her on sight. To make matters worse, on their wedding night, an assassination attempt goes awry—leaving Aric magically transformed into a horse. Bianca does what any bride in this situation would do: she mounts her new husband and rides away to safety. Sunset returns Aric to human form, but they soon discover the assassination attempt is part of a larger plot against the throne. Worse, Bianca has been framed for Aric’s murder, and she’s now saddled with a husband who is a horse by day and a frustratingly attractive man by night. As an unexpected romance begins galloping away with their hearts, Bianca and Aric must rely on each other to unravel the curse and save the throne.

You know, with the top 4 all being fully unhinged premises, I'm gonna throw another Unhinged by Vera Valentine into the ring. It's about a woman who fucks a door and I feel like that's all the description needed.
