Loved the bit with Granny Whitney's cocaine, but I caught an error on my second reading of it. "Her kind smile was actually kind instead of threatening, or at least he hoped it was." I'm guessing "kind" was only meant to appear once there.

That was what I intended, but that doesn't mean it's a good sentence. What I meant to get across was that she can give a "kind smile" that isn't actually kind. Anyway, glad you liked the cocaine line. ^-^
