Still one of the greatest television shows of all time. They just didn’t stick the landing.

TallTyrionLannister

Although it could have been executed better, Bran being king actually makes sense if you take a step back. Someone who has no want for power or glory, and can make strategic decisions based on his vast knowledge of the past and present. He knows every decision in the past that worked and didn’t. Thanks for a great GOT journey. Hope to see some HOTD or AKOTSK soon

Scott S

You may say the villian won. Knowing what would happen with spreading knowledge of Jon's parents and the aftermath.

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Remember in Season 7 Episode 6 when Tyrion said to Daenerys before going to King's Landing? He said "we will take all our armies and all our dragons to King's Landing so that if Cersei does something to Dany, we'll burn King's Landing to the ground." So he was having the plan to kill all the innocent civilians of King's Landing then. Now he feels horrible about it?

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Why would Hound want to kill Mountain now especially when he could have done that on several occasions before? And especially now after all the character arc for the Hound to be above vengeance. Some fans wanted to see Cleganes fight. So the show runners did it as a fan service

Nomaan

I hope you read the books without letting the show influence ur perception of the characters cos the book counterparts are vastly different and infinitely better than the show versions. Dany isn’t gonna be mad queen and I’ll die on that hill since no one can provide solid proof for that theory x

Michael West

Bran: “I can never be Lord of anything…. Wait, King of the six kingdoms? Sure, why not?” I still think 90% of the series is epic, the ending was just so underwhelming. You did an amazing job with the reactions. Your insight and commentary were always spot on. We enjoyed sharing your journey. Keep up the good work. You deserve all the best.

Dresdon

Look at it like this. Now you can fully explore the Song of Ice and Fire universe. The show is not the books. Theyre so vastly different i doubt theyd go in this direction and now you can enjoy the true lore from the source material and other shows! The universe is still amazing the writers just literally gave up on those last 2 seasons. I think they thought in the over a decade the show ran G RR Martin would finish his books but of course even to this day he did not. I look forward to more GOT content! It only goes up from here. Edit* Ya they threw the entire prophecy stuff out the window...so lame. Jon is absolutely the Prince that is promised. Just bad writing

Paul Huffman

The frustrating thing is (and this is something you've said that I agree with). I don't necessarily have beef with the story threads of this season and where some of the characters went. But they deserved way more of a slow burn to get there. I wish everyone involved weren't so burned out, and committed to another season or at least a regular length for this season.

SpacePotato

Your face when Bran gets it 😂😂😂 don't worry, house of the dragon will give you a breath of fresh air!

Licha Reacts!

thank you so much for being here with me for it! It was such a rollercoaster of emotions! ♡

WanderingBecauseLostLol

Sansa being queen at the end would have fulfilled her season 1 dream, while also having a whole life of experience to change the meaning of it for her, and I agree that was the best choice. Bran for master of whispers though!

mRAC

Dan and Dave was like.....lets get rich and famous on martins work and when they came to where the books stopped, they panicked and gtfo as soon as possible. Truely exposed writers.

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

I don't understand how Tyrion is not mentioned in the history. He was Hand to Joffrey, He killed Tywin Lannister, He was Hand to Daenerys Targaryen. So how can he be missed. They just wanted to do a call back to when Varys said "History won't mention you" dialogue. Just for that sake

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

How did Sam become Grand Maester? Wasn't he a Night's Watch man? And he didn't even complete his learning in citadel or forge a chain. And he became not just a maester but the grand maester. How???????????

SpacePotato

Bloodraven always wins eventually

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

They mentioned Drogon was spotted flying to volantis. This was on purpose leaving a scope for sequel. Because the largest Lord of Light temple is in Volantis, and Drogon is taking Dany there.

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

When North asked for independence, why didn't the rest of the kingdoms ask that as well? Yara asked that to Daenerys right? So why not now?

Vishnu Vatheriparambil Mohandas

Wall has no point. Northern houses funded and armed the wall all these years to protect them from the wildling attacks. Who would fund the wall now when there is no more wildling attacks or whitewalkers? So wall is like a winter resort for the criminals but without any funding.

IcySystem

Drogon probably took Dany to Ashai to be resurrected by some Red priestess or with blood magic. She's now in the Shadowlands hatching more dragons and raising an army of fire-wights to come back as a fire-white-walker.

Pablo Vaquera

I feel bad cuz when you said “it can’t get any worse… right?” I laughed out loud 🤣🤣🤣 I do feel bad tho cuz you were lucky because you didn’t have to wait for episodes. We were lucky because we had whole communities crashing out with us during this lol.

Mike Smith

Notice how the seasons you didnt like and drove you crazy has different writers? =P

Burak Yağız

What a journey it has been rewatching this show with you though the last seasons are not as good it was really fun anyways I’m so excited for house of the dragon and a knight of the seven kingdoms

My_Cousin_Mose

Your intros have been 100% valid. I'm enjoying the crashouts but I gotta say I've not seen any other reacter go as hard as you have. Like not even close lol. I think many are too afraid to upset their audience. I'm looking forward to you watching a show that makes you happy again.

My_Cousin_Mose

I almost choked when you told Gendry to shut up lol!

Stephen Reading

So Arya's ending was setup for a spinoff that was announced then canceled after the reception of this episode. Also its not a reaction but I suggest Lindsay Ellis' 2 part video essay on the lending of Game of Thrones.

zulu

I'm also underwhelmed by how the last season turned out, so much could have been done better and we rightfully expected more from it. But it's also kind of unfair to compare the last chapter of a story to the early seasons. The essence of GoT was the chaos, the layers of plotting and scheming, the shifting allegiances that kept us guessing. We kept being played and surprised and we loved it. But narratives naturally move from complexity toward simplicity. By this final act, chaos was bound to settle as everyone picked sides for the endgame. At that stage, there just weren't any intricate scheming and complex/hidden motivations left, because the board had shrunk to two opposing sides. What would we expect? Finding out that Tyrion intentionally messed up his war strategy to sabotage Dany? A secret coup by Yara to overthrow Dany? Qyburn showing up on Dragonstone to sell out Cersei? None of these would make sense, it's a different narrative stage of the story. We had transitioned from a political thriller into a total war. We shouldn't set the same expectations for the third act as for the second. Even if the delivery didn't quite land the way we hoped.

My_Cousin_Mose

I would also love to know- what was the point?! Arya went to Bravos for 2 seasons to learn to be a faceless man to only use her skills one time after returning to Westeros. Bran's entire plot built up to him flying a few ravens around during the long night and becoming the king. Seriously? And he puts Bronn on the small council? I guess bro lol. And why reveal Jon's true identity if they weren't going to do anything with it? What was the point of any of it? Also I know what's west of Westeros- an Arya spin off that never ended up happening.

swilkins08

I think narratives don't need to naturally move toward simplicity. That may be the most common, but there are stories that are open ended and leave you to decide what you think may happen next. The story didn't start off at the beginning - it drops you in the middle of a bunch of events. They could have ended the same way, left interesting questions hanging and closed out key storylines while still keeping the plotting and scheming and twists to the last moment. They simply didn't have the foundation of a storyline from GRRM anymore, and they are simply worse writers than he is - and even he is struggling with a good way to end the story that lives up to the first half of the series.

Josh M

Yikes. Still such a baffling ending. Some scattered problems: -Jaime and Cersei were crushed not by the weight of the entire Red Keep collapsing, but by a handful of bricks.. -Drogon somehow has the capacity to understand that the throne is what figuratively killed Dany, so he burns that instead of Jon.. -They managed to make even Yara insanely unlikable in her one scene. -Bran the broken, need I say more? -Who is Jon protecting the wall from?? Absolute lunacy. I stand by this being an incredible series. You just have to stop at 7x5-ish and make up your own ending. Or cross your fingers that George R. R. Martin will one day finish the books (he won't).

zulu

I honestly agree with you that for certain stories it is fitting to maintain the complexity until the very end, and GoT could have been one of those. As you said, we were dropped in the middle, and we could have been left off like that at the end. Fully agree. But GRRM himself provided hints how he imagined the story to end, so the show had to adhere. For all we know, he is really fond of the bittersweet ending of LOTR and wants to replicate that vibe, which doesn't sound like ending up in chaos. At least that's my take on it.

My_Cousin_Mose

I would not recommend thinking about the ending too much. It probably won't make it any better lol.

My_Cousin_Mose

I haven't watched a Lindsay Ellis vid in years!

Lee Smith

It's like you watch someone set up a beautiful domino lineup only for them to just kick them over and go "not what you expected huh?"

IcySystem

Why was Brienne in Kingslanding at the end as Kingsguard, did she forget that she was sworn to sansa? Did Sam forget he was sworn to the Nights Watch and didn't care about his best buddy Jon Snow anymore? What about Davos? Wouldn't he push way harder for Jon being King? Arya going off on her own, when her whole arc was revenge killing vs returning home to be with her family? "The lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Now roleplaying as Christopher Kolumbus. (Edit: lol, you said the same thing :D ) ...

Ryan Ryvenclaw

Now that you finished the show, you should check out the Game of Thrones Season 8 Redux.

Cole Troutman

Lol I just remember being genuinely angry when Dany burns kings landing... Idt anythings ever gonna rage bait me as hard as this show did

Cole Troutman

bru nah i never rewatched this till now omfg i refuse to believe this is how "a song of ice and fire" ends. I used to think the books would save it but I don't think we're ever getting even the next one...

Ambrosio Sanchez

how is Arya being a faceless man pointless... she literally killed the night king

Ambrosio Sanchez

Bran is definitely the best choice for king. Maybe not from a story telling perspective but if the world was actually real it's not even close. You can't lie to him, he's unemotional, he can learn from history, he's not evil, etc...

Ambrosio Sanchez

"and it's all about the game of thrones and who gets the throne in the end and IT GOES TO BRAN, of all people". He's literally the most powerful person in the world...

Eduardo Aguilar

BEST REACTION EVER!!! Thank you for sharing your experience of GOT. My wife, my sister and I watched this show as it was coming out and yes the last 2 season felt rushed even though seeing the Starks were starting to get some justice, finally some power and position to defeat their enemies and unite and come together was exciting. Aria was my fave from beginning, yes MULAN scenario came to mind. Jon Snow was second fave. Daenerys I liked and cheered for but always had that feeling that if she didnt have the people around her supporting, advising, looking out for her she would have lost it along time before she got there. When she started the "bend the knee" fetish and she went to the north and didn't feel the love, I knew she would go full Targaryen before the show series ended. This was and is the best show I watched so far. "LOST" 2004-2010, had been the 1 show up until GOT, and yes, I'm still trying to figure out or reconcile the ending on that show too. I love TWD too, still in my top 10 shows ever but lost me after a certain season. I loved the comments, your input, your insight, expressions, and cats. Very entertaining, thank you.

Mel

This is the perfect example of "How to ruin the greatest show ever written" Absolutely appalling! 6 years on and I'm still not over it! Unforgivable! The whole of season 8 leaked before it was released but nobody believed it because it was such a shit show! Then it came out!!!!!!!! Terrible 😡

Naut

Thank you, Licha! Thank you for an absolutely fantastic reaction series — I thoroughly enjoyed living vicariously through every moment. From the smiles and pure glee you showed during the title sequences, to the shock and tears during the major events, your insights and those classic “I’m just a girl” moments 😂, right through to the completely valid crash-out, confusion, and frustration at the end. Believe me, all of us who watched it when it first aired felt exactly the same way. (Even worse, we had to wait a whole week between episodes — imagine the rage we had to bottle up 😂) I completely agree with and share your overall sentiment. I’ll always remember GoT as one of the greatest television events ever made; the cinematography, score, set design, writing (GRRM’s, of course 😛), and casting were absolutely top tier. I’ll also always remember it as the show the showrunners failed miserably, essentially taking so many awesome character arcs and burning them all to the ground — spectacularly, pun intended 😛. They were great at adapting, but once the story was left entirely to them to finish… well, you said it best: “Well, I guess, bro...” 😂 Hopefully the immediate jump into HotD isn’t tainted in any way for you. I know I was personally affected by GoT for some time when it finished lol. HotD is fantastic (so far 👀) so I’m looking forward to it in any case.

Michael Bond (AKA codemonkey85) - PKMDS Developer

To be fair a lot of the show was that. No one expected the main character to be killed off in the first season, or the next main character to be killed off at the end of season 3, right?

Lee Smith

Ned and Robb dying are not "kicking the dominoes over". If you go, back the sequence of events(dominoes) that leads to their deaths seems inevitable based on the choices the characters are making. Think back to Neds terrible politicking in the hours of Roberts death, and for Robb they literally have a character look at the screen and go "you lost this war when you married her" vs Arya is Azor Ahai because of a thing Melisandre said to Arya 1 time, instead of all the track laid for Jon, or Daenerys i suppose depending on ur preference, with the "prince that was promised" being gender neutral in valyrian stuff.

Funkystar

Guys let’s just be grateful for the journey🥹💔😔

Don Seaton

The journey was far more satisfying than the destination. I needed Arya to complete her list. I hated that Tyrion is one of the winners. He was arrogant, pretentious and not as wise as he told everyone. It was a rollercoaster but I despised him in the end. Good BSing skills though.

Dan Tydeman

It's ok we all mourned the terrible ending they gave GoT but we remember it for the Goated show that the rest of it was! Watched his with you since episode 1 and was a great journey <3

Johnny R

Everything we were given is very telling of what was going on in George’s mind when him and the writers spoke about his ideas for an ending. The writers just did a bad job at adapting those ideas without any concrete source material. But I can assume the starks are George’s favorite family, he wants to adapt some sort of plot where Dany goes mad and Bran ends up on the throne. At least in my opinion.

Dale Gwynn

This was the best reaction of all by you. Your assessment is correct and your disappointment is shared by millions of us GOT fans. HBO has since somewhat admitted that the ending was rushed because the writers and producers had other projects and were on the clock to getting those started. So they just needed to get GOT finished. Since, many fans have complained but more interesting is many of the cast were unhappy with the ending as well. Charles Dance who played Tywin Lannister, started a petition among the cast to have the ending re-done with better story line endings. But at least so far, no real response from George or HBO on the subject. There is a you tube video out there somewhere that shows that cast reactions as they were reading the final scripts. Interesting... There also have been rumors that HBO was considering a continuation of the series?? Drogon took Dany to Old Valeria where a witch was able to bring her back to life as some sort of zombie like creature sort of like Kaul Drogo. But they are just entertainment publication and internet rumors. Besides, I personally think HBO currently has to many spin-offs working from GOT to be serious about a continuation. House of the Dragon is okay, but I have nothing nice to say about the New Knight of the seven Kingdoms. And I think later this year HBO has one coming out about Arya? Although I don't know if Malaise is returning in the role? But I do enjoy your reactions so much so, I joined to be a bestie!! I hope to see much more of you and as I mentioned previously please give serious consideration to The Sopranos. It was the number one show until GOT.

Ismael Bouissef

HAHAHAHA you killed me with that "cook him" ...after what happened last 2 episodes you were so done 🤣🤣🤣

Dale Gwynn

Did you know that Sophie Turner (sansa) adopted the Animal that was "Lady" her "Direwolf" when the show ended?

Dale Gwynn

Drogon should have burned Jon and all her armies and then took her a flew away

C. J. Ramirez

Will the last book ever come out
