The 'second of his names' actually means that he is the second king/heir named Aegon. The first king, named Aegon, is the conqueror.

the guy who said 2nd of his name last episode is ottos older brother the actual lord of oldtown. hes not apart of the counsel but was there for aegons 2nd nameday celebration. another reason it is important is bc so many children die of infancy that 2 to them means they are past that so it would be a perfect time to name him heir.

basically the height GRRM gave the wall in the books is a lot bigger than he thought so when they made the show it was bigger than he envisioned so basically the wall should be abt 2/3 of its actual size and Casterly Rock is supposed to be abt the size of the wall in the show maybe a little taller.

the thing ill say abt the male ruler things is their laws arent opposed to naming a female ruler. there are many ladies who rule their lands and for the Lord Paramount families whole countries, but a queen is out of question for them? Rhaenys actually got passed over twice and it has a lot to do w what Lord Strong said abt Jahaerys dealing with his own daughters.

One of the things I really appreciate about you as a reactor is your ability to evaluate the characters in the story based on the moral confines of the world they inhabit. Yes, we all agree that inbreeding is gross and wrong, but from the perspective of these characters there’s a strong case to be made for it here. I like how you’re able to separate the conflicts with our values as a contemporary audience. Just wanted to give you some props for that because it can get tiresome when someone fixates on the moral disconnect. It’s a fictional world and to really get into characters’ heads, you’ve got to see things from their point of view.

You have to look the bigger picture here, Otto is guilty from day 1 when he did what he did with his own daughter to take advantage on the kings pain, he was the FIRST one to name her as option for the kings heir, just to buy time to Alicent put her claws on the king , marry him, have a son and be able to have a Hightower blood on the Throne, the fact that he brought those news was him wanting chaos on her name and putting father against daughter, littlefinger style, he had ZERO good intentions on the kings behaf, and was A SPY on the kings heir , she was wrong but thats NOT the job of the hand at all, he Just look advantage to self interest and only that , dont try that hard to "humanize" Otto haha ,especially here, Alicent and many others are his victims.

Mostly agree with everything you said except Daemon because what😆️ Alicent tries to be the perfect queen, best friend, and daughter to the best of her abilities and her life gets slightly worse for it, now losing her dad from court. Ser Criston's choices (in his head probably): keep your honor, deny the princess sex and maybe lose your head for it, or trash your honor, have sex with the princess and maybe lose your head for it. Easy choice? What's honor to a starry eyed, lowborn Kingsguard? I love your content. Really can't wait for next episode!!

I think its good to mention, that Rhaenys not getting the throne in episode one was actually only for contrast to Rhaenyra. In truth she was already discarded as an option before the great council, as was her daughter Laena, who in the books is older than Laenor. So the two main claimants in the great council were Viserys and Laenor. King Jaehaerys, Viserys predecessor, had three sons, which were Aemon, Baelon and Vaegon. Vaegon were still alive during the great council, but refused the throne, cause he was already a master. Aemon was the first born and the father of Rhaenys. Baelon was the second born and the father of Viserys and Daemon. If you go by primogeniture, where the first born inherits everyting, then Laeron would have had the strongest claim to the throne. If you go by male proximity, which basically means which male is closer to Jaehaerys it would be Viserys. Laenor was Jaehaerys Great-Grandson. Viserys is Jaehaerys grandson. Laenors claim in the great council was even backed by the Baratheons, cause Boremund Baratheons mother was a Velaryon, and the Starks to name the biggest ones besides the Velaryons themselves. Why the starks sided with Laenors claim is not known. So basically you got another claimant ruled out of the succession, cause the claim originated from a female line and now not even a generation later, you got the opposit of a female in line to inherit before a male, but not even 20 years before the great council set a precendent that a male would always come before a female. Thats just disaster in the waiting.

Ok. Listen to me. Just my theory. Citadel is in Old Town and their lords Hightowers. I believe Hightowers and Maesters are working together. I think Maesters are either not treating Viserys' illness properly, or they're trying to get him worse.

idk dude spoiler but rhaenyra gets way too many supporters she basically gets more than half of the realm to support her that i dont think ppl truly object to having a queen. they let ladies rule lands and whole countries while there is still male heirs in the family but a queen cant rule? a big part of the reason rhaenys got skipped the first time is bc of jaehaerys personal reasons.

Rhaenyra got so much support, because many lords do not want to be an oathbreaker. No one ever had to pledge their house to Rhaenys. If she would have been named princess of dragonstone after her fathers death, she would have had the same support.

Re: Mari, exactly! This idea that the realm is sooo against women and that Viserys is breaking centuries of tradition just is not true. But like GOT, HOTD just really simplifies the story to the point the entire message behind the story falls apart. Does sexism / misogyny (adjusted for time period) still play a role? Massively! But it's not this absolute thing. Re: the council, if we hold true to the prophecy being suggested by GRRM, then it could be Jaehaerys trying to abide but afraid of his image, not to mention it playing a role in how he treats his daughters.

Actually that was most definitely a plot from Otto to ruin Rhaenyra too. His job as hand isn't to plot to usurp Rhaenyra or to spy as that would be master of whisperers. Plus Otto swore that Daemon & Rhaenyra were seen having sex which is false, so untrue, Allicent is very jealous of Rhaenyra and blind to her fathers schemes, he's serving himself not the realm. Rhaenyra was reckless but can't blame her for wanting fun after Daemon took her out to live for once. Rhaenyra never lied to Allicent either, she swore they didnt do IT. Rhaenyra was right not to tell her the whole truth too, since Allicent is Ottos daughter. Technically Rhaenyra never swore she was a maiden. Viserys saw Ottos intent when he argued about his spy being reliable and couldn't be lying. Otto could have let it go but persisted that it was facts when in reality it was all b.s. nobody could have witnessed such a thing so Otto lied or got caught in his scheming. Either way he's committed treason twice over.

That was Rhaenyra clearly confirming to Allicent that they didn't have sex. She never lied to Allicent. Also I said that Otto swearing it was true was complete b.s because nobody could have seen that.
