I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again I feel the most sympathy for the one guy digging and burying the grave for the twins lol

Interesting take! I think that what happened would have happened anyways, whether Alicent heard “Aegon” or not… We saw the men plotting to put him instead. It was just a convenient excuse. Yaay for the episode!!

Even though it's not very sensical, I think one of my favorite scored scenes from GoT and HotD is the one between Rhaenyra and Alicent at the end of this episode! The score of "End a War Before It Begins" is beautiful and so haunting/telling for what's to come. The Battle of the Burning Mill's cut at the start of the episode also shows how this Targaryen "civil war" has spread to other areas of Westeros, like the Riverlands. Daemon at Harrenhal is my favorite storyline from this season, contrary to popular consensus, because the writing and new characters and story arc Daemon goes on are fantastic! All that being said, I think the first half (four episodes) of this season are definitely the stronger run of the season.

it doesnt rly determine who won only bc u can see these as wartime banners. like they said in the wedding episode the fire glows green when the hightowers call their banners to war so it is likely they only use green banners when they are in war but their banners are usually just white on grey. some people have personal coat of arms and it becomes their sigil during war especially during a civil war. if the greens do win they would eventually change their banners back to the original.

Mari

i mean u technically do call the ruling kings wife your grace and some even go as far as calling the heir that too and Daemon is the husband to the ruling queen so.

They are Dany's eggs

The new intro shows the blood flowing through the Valyria's model like the intro in season 1. Then we see Daenys the dreamer who dreamt of the doom of valyria, then we see doom of valyria with the dragons falling and volcanoes errupting, then we see Aegon and his sisters on their dragons depicting start of the conquest, we see Harren the black, Aegon's dragons burning house gardner and Lannisters in the field of fire, Tullys, Arryns and Starks bending their knees to Aegon, Targaryen dynasty represeted with Targaryen sigil above King's Landing, Maegor the cruel killed on iron throne, King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne taking over the seven kingdoms after Maegor died, Jaehaerys the old king at the great council of 101 AC which was the starting scene of season 1, then we see greens and blacks, Lucerys and Arrax chopped up. And this episode we see rat catchers hanging as the last scene of tapestry before the blood from tapestry flow towards the iron throne. The tapestry will update as the episodes progress

Yes, Aegon placed his friends in the kings guard.

The scene in the end.. Alicent no longer has the power to stop what is set in motion. At this point it doesn't matter if she admits her misinterpretation or not. To me, that scene portrays just that, all the war hungry men (Aegon, Aemond, Cole, Daemon along with the rest of their councilors) has already pushed things too far. It's not as if they would hand over the throne if they heard that Alicent changed her mind. It all ties back to the Brackens/Blackwoods and what Rhaenys was talking about, it doesn't really matter that started it anymore.

Cassandra

Not sure if you recognized her but the blonde girl at the bar serving the men was the same girl Aegon raped in season 1 and Alicent gave moon tea and sent off, her name is Dyanna

Yes three of them are Dany’s eggs

Joey Largehands

Not true. Ryan Condal came out and quashed that immediately after the director for the episode made those comments.

29:11 Neither side of the war used the standard Targaryen banner during the war. Another change the show made that muddies the waters and frames an unfortunate narrative. - Rhaenyra used the Targaryen red three-headed dragon sigil quartered with the Seahorse of House Velaryon & the Falcon of House Arryn. - Aegon used a gold three-headed dragon on black. It was colored gold to represent his dragon Sunfyre, who had golden scales.

Joey Largehands

"Maybe he's lonely"... Rhaenyra's reaction tells you everything Mysaria's comment implies.

Flexorcist

The stupid mistakes are some sort of a callback to earlier episodes that almost nobody in the realm knows true warfare

Joey Largehands

"We need new advisors" but when they were offering advice they were deemed disrespectful. Something's gotta give here lol

Baela's dragon Moondancer is a beautiful dragon

Marc van de Klashorst

They are not, at least not according to book canon (which is the only canon that matters).

LOL, the hand when Aemond shows his... prowess. You'll need two hands soon!
